My Thoughts: We are introduced to Eliza, Eliza's friends, Eliza's ex Cooper, Cooper's so called friends. I want to say that I liked Eliza. I even liked Cooper, even though he was supposedly a jerk. I didn't like Cooper's friends (well duh) and I thought Eliza's friends were annoying. First off, I want to point out that they left her throughout the book and if they were "real" friends they would have stuck by her through everything and not run off with the first guy they laid eyes upon. This was possibly one of the worst books I have ever read. I despised everything about it. The dumb-ass title. The dumb-ass cover. The dumb-ass characters. And especially the dumb-ass writing. I tend to cuss and rant when I hate a book, so if you are of delicate sensibilities or loved this book, I would advise against reading any further.

I hate the main character so freakin' much. Eliza (I forgot her name already, so I had to look it up) was on my characters-i-wanna-shoot s More...

After reading Barnholdt's Two-way Street, I was excited to read One Night. It's about a girl who has her notebook stolen -- a notebook containing all of her "emotional fears" (her words, not mine). Some of these fears are admittedly shallow, but some, not so much. Her ex-boyfriend Cooper has done Something Horrible, which is part of the reason she's in this mess. She's blackmailed into acting out these fears, and shenanigans ensue.

In Two-way Street, Barnholdt had served up some pretty solid char More...

Ejem.

More...

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! YAY FOR LAUREN BARNHOLDT!!

This was probably one of the most entertaining reads I have read all year. It was fun, imaginative, and basically the Holy Grail of YA chick-lit. (By the way, because I only knew about the book what I read on the inside flap, and I realized that the summary from Goodreads gives away pretty much the whole plot, I edited it a bit.)

So: THIS. WAS. AWESOME.

I haven't read a book that takes place during one night since N More...

Eliza has a notebook, one in which she's written down all the things she wishes she had the courage to do. After she sort of ruins something for her ex, his secret society friends steal that notebook to get back at her. Throughout one night, they blackmail her into doing some of those things that she's been too afraid to do. The blackmail part: if she doesn't comply, they'll put the whole book up on the internet. Embarrassing, obvs; it's high school.

I love books that pull me in within More...

REVIEW

One Night That Changes Everything could be called One Book That Does Everything Right. This little story about Eliza and her missing notebook is unique, fun, and full of surprises.

Eliza keeps a notebook that lists all the things she is afraid of doing, but plans to someday do. It’s sort of like a bucket list, but they are all things she is TERRIFIED of doing. Well, when her ex’s “friends” steal Eliza’s notebook, they make her do some of the things on her list. Can you even imagine!?! More...

2.5 stars. Eliza recently had her heart broken by a guy she thought she was in love with, so she's surprised to get a call from him one night instructing her to meet him because he and his friends have her purple notebook. In it, she'd been keeping a list of all the things she'd been afraid of doing. To get back at Eliza for posting half-truths about her ex-boyfriend online, they're now holding her notebook for ransom and forcing her to do things from her list over the course of a night, thre More...

I could link this to So Over You but this is entirely different, just similar. & with the notebook & stuff, I remember The Boyfriend List 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #1)

I don't think Tyler really meant harm to Eliza because if he does hate her enough to torture her, then he'd started it already, wouldn't he? <spoiler> When she's tasked to reveal the truth to her sister, Tyler doesn't actually listen to "the Truth" instead, he left and only went there to make sure that she says it...</spoiler> What I couldn't comprehend is More...

One Night That Changes Everything - Lauren Barnholdt (4 stars)

Eliza Sellman was very self-conscious and shy about her body, and everything about her. When her dad was getting a job transfer, she started keeping a journal. The journal was about everything that she wanted to do in life that she was too afraid to do. Some of those things were posting pictures of herself in a bikini on facebook, singing karaoke in front of strangers, and telling her sister that she kissed her boyfriend More...

I’m actually surprised that I enjoyed this book. I picked it up because I heard a couple good things about it, the front flap description sounded interesting, and it was short.

The tale of Eliza is an inspiring and meaningful tale of reaching deep inside and facing your fears. Eliza has one crazy night, during which she must accomplish brave feats such as karaoke, swimsuit pictures, kissing boys, and the like. *gasp* During her perilous adventures she learns a lot about her friends, h More...

i really enjoyed this book. Lauren Barnholdt really knows how to make you laugh. Eliza is a typical high school girl with common fears.

so basically the starts of with Eliza realizing that she has lost her purple notebook containing 5 years of her teenage fears. she just broken up with her boyfriend Cooper (because he supposedly dated her as a intiation for a pranking boy school group called the 318's). As revenge she put some online gossip about him on the net which got him kicked ou More...

This is such a lovely, hilarious book.
I loved it so, so much!
Eliza reminded me of myself sometimes. I loved her! She could totally be my best friend.
Her best friends made me miss mine, the lessons she learned in just a night were very real to believe and the romance was imperfectly perfect!
I loved how themes of sisterhood (Big sister and little love each other! No fighting or hate!) and frie More...

Eliza has this purple notebook in which she's listed all her fears...things like posting a picture of herself in a bikini, asking a hot guy to dance, and singing karaoke. When her notebook goes missing, she finds out that her ex-boyfriend, Cooper and his cute, yet cruel friends stole it.

And, then she finds out what she has to do to get it back, and she wants it back....BAD. Tyler, the head 318 (a sort-of frat, secret boys society), texts her and starts listing the things she needs t More...

I really enjoyed this book. I love movies that have an adventure that happens all in one night like Adventures in Babysitting or Sleepover, and this book is exactly that. I loved going through the night with Eliza discovering what she had to do next. I wish things would have been more extreme, but what makes it a great book is that it was realistic except for the 318s which you will find out for yourself once you read it. I thought they made a good touch to the book though. Of course I knew More...

Eliza loses a book. A notebook that has deep secrets, not only about her but about her friends. A guys club called the 318's get the notebook and blackmails her with it. Eliza has to do all her worst fears or the notebook will be posted on the internet.

I started reading this book at my sister's recommendation because she really liked it, and when it comes to books, we usually agree. I started the book late one night before bed and only got as far as the first chapter, but I was certainly interested. The next night, before bed, I just planned to read a couple of chapters before going to sleep. Instead, I stayed up for the next three hours, without really meaning to, to finish reading the book.

It was such a refreshing reading. The ch More...

Eliza lost her notebook. It's not just a regular notebook - she's written everything she's even been afraid of doing in there. Now, it's in the hands of her ex-boyfriend Cooper's society brothers, who are intent on making Eliza suffer by making her do the things she'd written about in her notebook. One night changes everything, from her views about herself, her friends, and especially her ex-boyfriend.

Maybe it's because I haven't read Barnholdt recently, but I was surprised that she More...

I love stories that take place in an incredibly short amount of time because they make me feel like I'm experiencing the characters and situations in real time. In this case, readers are introduced to Eliza, a junior in high school living in the greater Boston area. She's looking forward to a night hanging out with her two best friends since her parents are out of town, but the boy who recently broke her heart, Cooper, and his friends seem to have a much different agenda: they've gotten their ha More...

What would you do if you lost your notebook that told everything you were too afraid to do? What would you do if someone (or a group of someones) had your book and started making you do the things you fear? I'm not talking things like riding a roller coaster or holding a spider. I'm talking about asking the cutest guy you can find to dance with you or telling your sister something horrible that you did against her.

This was a very quick read. I read it in one night. I enjoyed it quit More...

Okay, I admit to reading a few reviews before reading this. I can't help it sometimes, despite it being a bad idea. But I read a positive review, and a negative review. I have to say, I had to side with the negative review.

This book was awful. It irritated and bored me. It was un-put-downable in the worst way; I couldn't stop reading it because I couldn't wait to move on to something (anything) that would be infinitely better.

Eliza puts all of her fears inside a notebook and has been doing this for about 6 six years. Not like frightfully scary things, more like emotionally intimidating things. Things that she wishes she had the courage to do. So when said notebook ends up in the hands of the secret society at her Boston area high school, they force her to live some of her fears. All of this with her recent ex-boyrfiend following her around for the night, who is also a member of this society, or they'll post the noteb More...

Seeing as how this book started rather abruptly, I shall do the same:
Was it just me, or did the MC CAPITALIZE HER WORDS A LOT? It was as though the author couldn't simply write, "I hate you!" and be like: she yelled this at the top of her lungs, nearly shouting. Every damn sentence ended with capitalization, and boy, was it annoying.
Anyways, I'm not here to hate. I'm here to tell you how totally weird this book was (so...maybe I am hating?). For starters: Who in their r More...

This was my very first Lauren Barnholdt book and it was a good one! I have just recently started reading chick lit and this one gave me a reason to want to read this genre even more. One Night That Changes Everything was funny, fast-paced and sweet.
