Someone is grabbing experts in the life sciences and making the disappearances/deaths look like chanc. The latest, there was a slip-up though, and the ship wasn't destroyed. Crew and passengers were all slaughtered, though the Captain manged to leave a clue before he died: a sumbol entirely familiar to Cap Kennedy, the insignia of Doctor Kaifeng!

An old enemy of Cap's, who was thought to have died in their last meeting!

At the same time, on the female dominated society of the planet Weingold, win

Kern (E.C TUBB) finally comes into his own in the 12th Cap Kennedy book. Superlative example of the classic zap gun tale with our hero chasing after a genetic scientist. A similar pattern emerges in the famous Dumarest series - Once the author is into his stride the series lifts and his polished writing becomes a seamless carpet. the characters resolve, the antagonists concretise in his imagination and off we go around the stars and you are that hero.
