"The princess was brave, and the panther tried to be." This line was repeated over and over, to the point where I was sort of tired of it. And then! This is when the story got good!

Two sister, one a princess and the other a panther, decide to spend the night in a tent in the backyard. The two explore their new world, which stretches from the sandbox and kiddie pool before going to be in their red tent. Night noises nearly get the best of them, but the two sisters manage to be brave together.

This book was a really cute and creative read! The author uses amazing descriptive detail and onomatopoeias that truly paint visual pictures and auditory sounds in the reader's mind. Young students could certainly relate to camping out in the backyard and going on an imaginary adventure like the two sisters do in the book.

I read this sweet picture book to my nephew. The writing was fun to read out loud. The pictures are pretty and the story of two little girls camping out and being scared by their own imaginations is a good teaching tool for kids who are prone to scaring themselves a little too much.

Two sisters spend the night in their backyard imagining that they are a princess and a panther. The older sister, the princess, is the braver of the two, but in the end it takes both of them to scare away the monsters. Great repeating words for an excellent storytime.
Nova
delightful children's book celebrating the power of the imagination where the sandpit becomes a desert to be crossed and the paddling pool a wide lake. Trouble is, the panther (younger sister) has a very active imagination and is trying so hard to be brave.

A nice story about children's imagination, with a refrain that kids should enjoy. Unfortunately, the pictures were a let down for me.

A brave princess and a panther who tries to be brave cross the desert together and settle into a red silk tent, in which they listen to "leaf-snakes," an "owl-witch," and other frightening creatures until the princess frightens them away.
