A very intimate memoir of a gay black man about his journey to ultimately love himself after being unloved by his father and many lovers throughout his life. The unabashed honesty and delivery of his story evoked insight in the life of homosexuality and the strong empathy of relating to also having had disaster relationships in search of wanting/needing to be loved to only finally realize that everyone needs to love him/her- self ultimately!! This universal revelation shared by all humans!

This book is to me very educational, what i mean by that is, that we all go through things in our lives trying to find out who we are. Even though I have not personally experienced any of the heartache that was mentioned in this book. I think it's wise to know that such pain and such people are out here in this world, And it kind of gives you this advantage of knowing to beware (straight or gay).

This was a beautifully written memior by Mr. Lofton, it will simply bring the reader to tears, then make the reader smile. It is an exceptually great read aboutsome of Mr. Lofton's experiences with being gay, having contracted HIV and searching for LOVE.
