Never use 10 words when you can use 3.
Adding in details such as the exact layout of a parking lot and roads that never, ever comes into the plot of the book is useless, confusing, and leaves the reader dangling.
"Deception Bay" really?!. For one thing, I know the general area and so always inserted Depoe Bay into my head anyway, because I was almost sure that's the small town this was based in, but I also spent some time thinking of other appropriate names, like "Donotstophereyou'llbekilled Bay"...more

Both Bush and sister Lisa Jackson are terrific writers, each in her own way (which is why their co-writes do not work well). I love Jackson and while I've tried NOT to compare the two authors I feel compelled to defend Bush (whom I discovered first and whose work I feel is actually tighter and stronger, over all) against the digs from the hyper-ardent Jackson fans. I get it. Jackson is extremely prolific, a star of several genres, and writes quite well. However, I actually prefer Bush's style (e...more
Blind Spot was truly a very nice surprise. I usually only read urban fantasy/ paranormal romance but I was desperate for something new to read. Well, I definitely was not dissapointed.
Dr. Claire Norris is a psychiatrist at a private mental hospital. One of her patient, a rich paronoid schizophrenia has been off his meds and after insisting his girlfriend accompany him to a session, he kills her and attempts to kill Claire. Claire had warned hospital officials he needed to be committed but becaus...more

This is not the type of book I normally read, but it is the one I won so I read it. I was surprised, it was better then I thought it would be. There were many suspenseful twists, and semi-believable characters. The romance between the hero and heroine, not so believable, but it was good for what it was. The characters became obsessively fixated with the crime that had occurred and joined forces to stay away from another crime happening. Some hate each other, some love each other, some do both......more
Take a psych ward pregnant Jane Doe, add a determined doctor, a couple of murders, and a predictable cliche romance (I hate you! Oh, but I love you!!), and you've got...this story. It was a short, light-weight read for me, and it wasn't unpleasant.
While there were a few things (like a cult, a jealous psychotic, an accidental murderer, and a psychic neighbor) to stand out and make it a bit different, it wasn't enough to make this book exceptional or great. While I wouldn't go out of my way to re...more

So here is yet another I am having trouble finishing. With all the, it's not my fault, to Claire's whining about being a scape-goat for a wealthy family who's son/grandson suffers from schizophrenia and murdered his girlfriend and tried to murder his shrink, to Lang's, I can't get over the murder of my sister, to too many details about nothing important, it just did not hold my attention. I already had the occult aspect figured out in the prologue.
Nancy Bush creates a complex tale with a great deal of suspenseful twists and believable characters. Claire Norris, a devoted psychologist, and Langdon Stone, an ex-homicide detective, struck by the same horrendous tragedy and disregarding their mutual hostility join forces to avoid another gruesome crime. Langdon’s obsessive fixation with Claire borders the stalker’s realm, an early indication of the sizzling passion that will eventually consume them. Following a dangerous path leads them to th...more
This was mostly OK. Pretty good mystery but the relationship between h/h was out of left field. The writing was a bit jerky and could use some polishing. Read because it dealt with 'the Colony' and is sort of in the series w/ Lisa Jackson, Nancy Bush's sister. Will still read the sister's books, but this is the second Nancy Bush book that I have been less than thrilled with.
I just finished this book and I loved it! So vivid and crisp, the characters are so wonderfully real, with flaws and complexities that make you want to know more about how they came to be the way they are. Vicious antagonists, wonderful twists and set in my stomping grounds made this a "can't put down" read. I devoured it and would highly recommend.
This book was like a bunch of kids in adult clothes babysitting a bunch of adults in children's clothes. The author dropped the killers name 40% into the book. The whole book was spent ending sentences with exclamation points. A little far fetched. Not a surprise, twist ending at all. Gibby, the 30 y/o with the mental capacity of a 4 y/o was the most likable character. That says ALOT.
A psychological thriller or sorts that actually kept me guessing as to who the real killer was. The story revolves around Claire, a psychiatrist at a mental hospital, and recent survivor of a brutal attack of a dangerous patient; Lang, an ex-detective whose sister was killed in the same incident; Tasha, a desperate and pregnant young woman; and Rita, a woman so desperate to have a child that she'll do anything. The question is...is she willing to murder people.
Some parts of this book I really really liked - then some parts were just ok. I took me a longer than usual time to get finished with this book - but in the end and overall - I liked it.
It is the beginning of series I want to read by Nancy Bush and Lisa Jackson called The Colony - and it looks like it is going to be good.
This book is not a "who done it" so to speak - but more of a why did you do it.
