This is the fourth book in the Dragonfire series and this time the firestorm is between Delaney and Ginger.

Outcast from the Pyr because of his own dangerous impulses, Delaney will do anything to destroy Magnus and vows to complete a mission which will either redeem him or end his suffering. However, his plan doesn't include his sudden firestorm with the hot-tempered Ginger. The firestorm reforms Delaney closer to his old self but he still won't give up his mission and refuses the help from his

The whole Man shifting into a dragon concept is really cool to me, but I have always loved dragons. but don't let the fantasy/sci fi front fool you..

deep down, it's still a corny romance book. There's nothing wrong with that though, I'm a big sucker for corny romances. :0)

I think my fav part of this one was revisiting with the previous characters who have had their fire storms already. It makes me look foward to the next one even more.

There are two things I have learned from reading these books

I am so glad that this story was about Delaney Shea and his firestorm!

*********spoilers ahead if you have not read the previous books in this series!**********

Okay, you've been warned!

The Pyr are without the 2 main predicators that used to help them predict whose firestorms are approaching, and the previous 3 were related to some major eclipses. A minor eclipse takes everyone by surprise, especially Delaney Shea! He has survived and been partially healed from the Dragon Blood Elixer's influence
The long war between the Pyr and Slayers is about to clash again in Winter Kiss. Delaney, an outcast, resolves to go on a suicide mission to face Magnus and destroy the Elixir. But he never expected his firestorm to react to Ginger one night. Ginger doesn't know about the dragon-shifters until she's swept in once she follows Delaney.

I loved Ginger. She's fun, puts up her front, doesn't let Delaney decide her fate and goes after what she knows is worthy. It started that one night when she had a b
Feisty, fiery organic farmer Ginger Sinclair is certain that she is quite interested in Delaney but less so in this whole mate business she's hearing from the Pyr. Delaney is certain he can fulfill his firestorm responsibilities and complete his quest to destroy Magnus if only the other Pyr didn't help him so much. Some of the guys are around not only to protect Delaney's firestorm but to protect him from himself as his firestorm is like none they've seen. I liked Ginger's refusal to be a damsel ...more

I have enjoyed all of this series that I have read so far. I will continue to read this series. That said, this one annoyed me a little. Not a lot, just enough that I put it down and read something else as well.
My problem was the heroes constant inner dialogue that he had no future as he had to finish his self-imposed mission, and he doubted that he would come out of it alive. He didn't think he could call on his friends to help, when they constantly told him they would be there for him.

Another fine read in the Dragonfire series - like the others it is filled with action, suspense and the fires of life and love. Delaney, who was victimized by the head villain in earlier books, has basically given up on his life. Physically, mentally, and emotionally tortured by the Elixir he was force-fed, he has decided to make an 'ultimate sacrifice' to eliminate the Elixir that threatens to destroy the balance. Then his firestorm blooms, shifting his priorities and eroding his resolve. Ginge ...more
Well mouth's went dry eleven times! But I read the excerpt for the next book and there is already a dry mouth so I know the next one will be just as good!

I liked the story line in this one, but it almost seemed the writing was a little rushed. I caught quite a few discrepencies like for example: Niall was holding Ginger in his claw while fighting slayers, but tossed her to Eric. Eric caught her, and was holding her but she said something to Niall, when it should have been Eric, because after ans

I really do enjoy reading this series. It's just that I just can't really get into it. I never got that feeling that I need to keep reading or the world would end, I just never got completely immersed into the story. I do love these Dragon warriors but the I can't help to find the romance in it and the plot lacking.

The relationships are a bit shallow, never real feelings are discussed and there's never time for the couple to get to really know each other as the books don't take more tha

This is a predictable but enjoyable enough read. Delaney is a broken Pyr, the fact that he was forced to drink the elixir making him a danger to himself and others. Determined to defeat the evil hold it has on him - and to prevent any other from having to suffer his fate - he decides to destroy it. He hadn't expected to receive a firestorm but on the way to the fortress with the elixir he meets Ginger and realizes she is his storm. But can he start a relationship on the brink of a suicide missio ...more

This was my favourite of the Dragonfire books to date. I love the world that Ms. Cooke has created, and the comaraderie of her Pyr. Delaney is hot and devastating, his desire to do the right thing warring with his desire for Ginger. Their relationship is hot, sexy and turbulent, but with such heart.

This is the 4th book in the Dragonfire series by Deborah Cooke and I really enjoyed this. Deals with dragon shapeshifters.

In the previous books Kiss Of Fire, Kiss Of Fury and Kiss Of Fate we are introduced to the leaders of the Pyr and the first three stories which set up the background for Delaney's tale. By the time we get to "Winter Kiss" Delaney has become an outcast from his fellow Pyr as he was previously captured by the head of the Slayer's Magnus and forced to drink the Dragon's Blood Elixir! This did not turn him into a Slayer but allows him to be controlled by Magnus against his will, which makes him a "t
Great heroine fights her dragon mate for their HEA

Haunted by nightmares of the end of the world and thinking himself lost to the taint Dragon's Blood Elixer, dragon-shifter Delaney intends to destroy the elixer which is the source of the evil Slayers' immortality knowing that it is unlikely that he will survive his quest. But it turns out that fate has given Delaney a chance to reproduce before he dies, when Delaney stops in a bar on the way to his doom he stumbles upon his mate and they are d

he Dragonfire series, as you can guess, is about shapeshifting dragons. One of the things that I enjoyed about this series is the beautiful descriptions of the men in their dragon forms.

Delaney has distanced himself from the Pyr because of what he believes is his darkness and his need to destroy the Dragon's Blood Elixir, the cause of his darkness. So he's gone rogue, set himself apart and decided on a suicide mission against the Pyr's worst enemy. Then, fate steps in and Delaney's fir

Delaney, as we have seen in previous books, is a Pyr, only has been partly corrupted by 'Magnus', the head of the slayers, who forced him to drink a certain elixir, that has caused him to wage a war within himself. A war that he is still fighting himself, and after almost harming his brothers family, he is determined to find a way to win this inner battle. On his way to accomplish his mission, he comes across his firestorm, who makes him feel more like himself than ever before. He also knows he ...more

Do not read the following review if you have not read the prior Pyr novels by Cooke. MAJOR SPOILERS!

I was disappointed in this entry in the series. It was still enjoyable but didn't pack the punch that the others did.

Here are some of the reasons:

1) Lots of things get repeated over and over--the story of Cinnabar for instance. Kept wishing that the author had used that convention of saying "she somberly relayed the story of Cinnabar's role in the story to the listening Pyr". Cut to the chase.

2) Delaney's story of his childhood and later relationship with his Mom makes it even more unlikely tha

It's taken me ages to get through this book because life keeps getting in the way of my reading.

I love these books. I can't say that enough. My favorite thing about this series, is that the main focus is on the characters and on the plot, rather than the smut. In fact, there is so little smut in these books, it makes me a very happy reader. There still is some smut, but it's not graphic or tacky. And the books are UST heavy.

Sure, there is the whole dragon-meets-mate-dance in every book. And even
On a suicide mission to destroy the Dragon's Blood Elixir, Delaney encounters his firestorm when he meets Ginger Sinclair. (A firestorm only happens when a Pyr - a dragon shapeshifter - meets his destined mate, the only woman he can have a child with.) In order to fulfill his duty to his people, he detours from his main task and tries to get Ginger pregnant - and when Ginger finds out his intent, sparks really do fly.

A lot of secrets are revealed in this book that I don't want to spoil for anyon

**** "Winter Kiss" is the fourth shape-shifter dragon men funny-serious action romance by Deborah Cooke, with a surprise fire-cracker finale, unrelated to the accumulated couples and bachelors. I am puzzled why men centuries old, presumably born in rural cultures, are ignorant about the care of stock on the organic farm where they gather. Wouldn't even trained warriors start as children who know to feed livestock hay and spread straw for bedding?

Wow, how great to be able to read this book directly after the one before this one in this series.
Looking forward to read the next, but don't have that one at home yet.

Delaney choose to be an outcast from the other dragon shapeshifters himself. He was exiled, because he couldn't be trusted. Not his fault, because he was tortured to drink the Dragon's blood elixir.
He now wants to destroy this all by himself without help.

But at that moment he gets his firestorm and meets his mate. A wonderful wom

I don't know if I'm just in a funk or if this book wasn't so hot. I loved the first three books but for some reason this one just didn't do it for me. Delaney's "poor me" attitude got irritating real fast though I really did like Ginger as she was strong and knew what she wanted (or didn't want). I understand that Delaney was corrupted by the Slayers but man put your big boy panties on and deal with it already! The other dragons were there to help but Delaney kept with the "I must do this alone ...more

I'd have given Winter Kiss 4.5 stars but they don't give a half star option here at Goodreads.

This was a great paranormal romance in a series about the Pyr, the dragon guardians of Earth. Okay, I'm a fool for dragon shifters--I write stories about one who falls through time, Bells (see Apocalypse Dance and the Through Neon Eyes series)--so any book with a dragon in it is likely to get my attention.

I really liked the dynamic between Donovan, our shifter hero, and Ginger his firestorm mate.

This was another great edition to this series. I really loved both of the h/h characters.

Ginger was a bit of a spitfire. Full of life, and life lessons, a real spark. She was a great compliment to Delaney who was strong and honorable, but withdrawn and focused a task he felt was up to him. Even if it meant he have to sacrifice to make it happen.

The story line of this series continues to grow, and expand in complexity as does the cast of characters. It keeps getting better (so far) with each ne

I would have bought this for the cover alone!

4.5 stars (Man I wish Goodreads would give us that other half star)

This was a fantastic entry in Deborah Cooke's Dragon series. I'm a huge fan of Dragon stories anyway and hers are everything I love about them. Hero to die for. Heroine I loved (and how rare is that!) Good storyline and secondary characters that don't get in the way, yet you want to see more of.

Oh and there's preview of the next book at the very end. Holy Moly. I'm not going to make i
I love this series!!! Winter Kiss did have some scientific lingo that I didn't understand all together, but I think I got the gist of it and it was explained in the end and I still liked it A LOT!!!! It was nice to see Delaney healed and see him with someone like Ginger, a spitfire and tenacious. I love that in Cooke's characters she comes up with for the mates in these books, they aren't whinny and complaining, they are strong, tough as nails and fight for their man.

I think Ginger is my favorite heroine from this series so far. She is self-sufficient, confident and willing to go after what she wants. Delaney is a bit tortured after what the elixir did to him and he wants to destroy it. The big question is, can he destroy the elixir and still have Ginger? The supporting characters are great. I still really like Rafferty and Thorolf and look forward to them getting their own books at some point.

Another cool addition to the series-- I love the dragon shifters. The world the author has created is amazing. The only small negative I had involved the parts of the story explaining the heroine's organic business and philosophy. I thought it seemed a tad stiff and information. I garden organically so I'm really interested in the topic, but even I thought it came across almost like a "lecture". I loved everything else about the story, and can't wait for the next one!
