On secret military missions Harlan Jeffries had defied danger; he'd be damned if minding an adorable child--and the boy's stubborn and all too sexy aunt--would be his downfall. But when little Adam's mother went missing, Harlan had no choice but to take them both under his own personal protection.

Gina Rodgers knew nothing about mothering or staying alive--but she knew a ma...more

Gina Rodgers is surprised to receive a phone call from Harlan Jeffries about her sister. Sara, her very responsible sister, did not come home and Harlan has been caring for her son, Adam. Gina arrives at her sister’s house to find that her sister somehow became embroiled in a maze of conspiracy at the center of which is some work Sara did. Gina is not sure she should trust Harlan, a man who seems to be dangerous in his own right but it quickly becomes obvious that Harlan may be what will keep he...more

This is the second time I've read this book, and I loved it this time, as much as I did the first time I read it. The story has a lot of suspense to it, and makes you think, if there is corruption in our pharmaceutical companies? It also makes you think just what will some politicians do to get funding for campaigns, and votes.
Harlan works with Adam who is a little boy that is autistic, and watches him while Sarah is working. Harlan is alarmed when Sarah never makes it home from work, and call...more

Review by Jen:
Kay Thomas is going to be the guest at Book Talk this weekend (January 10-11). In preparation for the promo, she sent me a copy of Better Than Bulletproof to send to our contest winner. As it sat on my shelf waiting to be passed along to that lucky blog reader, it kept grabbing my attention. Wanting a short read, I picked it up. And to whoever wins the contest, don't worry... I didn't even crack the spine. :)

I have to say that I was very happy with my decision to read Better Than B...more

What captivated me most about this book was the storyline, it shows the corruption when elected members of congress become dependent on funding from special interest groups. A current topic that Kay Thomas has turned into a great story of suspense.

It kept me in suspense that I could not stop reading as soon as I started. I love how the story goes and I could say that I really enjoyed it. :)

This was written by a woman in my neighborhood. It is good for a quick read/romance/suspense novel.

I didn’t grow up burning to be a writer. As a child I wasn’t even much of a reader until fourth grade. That’s when I was stuck at home with the flu and my big sister read THE BLACK STALLION aloud to me. For hours I was enthralled—shipwrecked in a foreign land and riding an untamed horse across the hot desert sand. Then tragedy struck. My sister lost her voice. (I think she caught my flu.) But I co...more
