Wowser! I LOVED this one, I know I love everything Douglas writes but come on… This character Alton just makes me sweat. All I can picture is Legolas ….

A high action pack read. I did enjoy this read although it didn’t have as much humor to it as the first in the series. I loved the talking swords and the depth that Kate takes you into the world of the Lemurias. She explains a lot and makes you want more and I mean more, actually I was kind of mad at the end Kate takes you to a point about the Lemuria and then stops without telling the rest grrr. I wanted to know what happened to the slaves and the outrageous counsel, (especially Alton’s dad), b ...more

Quick & Dirty: Thrilling story of magic, demons and love.

Opening Sentence: Ginny Jones wrapped a clean kitchen towel around her torn fingers and glared at the screeching cat she’d finally managed to shove into the carrier.

The Review:

Back again for the second exciting installment of this series is our favorite ex-demon Dax, his lovely female Eddy with her dog and father, and their new found friend, the sexy Lemurian, Alton. Also joining them from the previo

Again, the story kind of dragged, and they seemed to take all day to do relatively simple tasks. I guess it's one day to show that time is passing. And I have to say, most of the time, I didn't really like Ginny. I'm not in love with this series, but I'm interested enough to want to see how it all ends. So I will keep reading.

Something that I did find annoying is the whole age thing. Why do these characters have to be thousands of years old to make them special? There are a number of issues I ha

Day by day the demons are getting stronger. No longer are they restricted to inanimate objects, they are now able to take over animals. Dax, Eddy and Alton knew they were in trouble when store mannequins started walking but they never expected what they would face next.

Alton is obsessed with Eddy’s best friend Ginny and can’t get her off his mind. He sent her to Sedona to get her away from the battle but to his surprise, he had sent her straight into the heart of it. Ginny Jones can’t remember w

HellFire is a hellishly good ride, and Alton is delicious. Actually, he's an over six-foot tall, well muscled, beautifully delicious dirty martini and he's all mine, (Didja hear that, Kate?)

We met Alton in DemonFire, when he met Dax, a former demon, during his and (his human soulmate) Eddy's trip to Lemuria, an alternate dimensional world, Dax and Eddy were looking for help in fighting the demons and he decided to help them save the worlds from Demonkind. Now he's back and is the hero of HellFir

Ginny is a twenty something African American female with no close anyone ties and very few friends. She is used to providing for herself and taking care of her own problems. She isn't used to depending on

Alton is a 7 feet tall Blond haired Lemurian warrior who chose to leave Lemuria, which is located in the center of Mount Shasta, in order to help fight the Demon incursion from Abyss. Alton comes a culture in which women were considered useful only for things like cook

I wrote and lost a review... and don't have the energy to recreate it...

Ginny and Allton - united in Sedonia (where he mind suggested she go to be safe)... demons are stronger, more organized, and taking the bodies of animals (the local, savvy vet figures out to suck the demon mist when it escapes from the cages animal, then he freezes it : )

Allton's sword directs them back to Lemuria - he confronts the Council of 9 - dad (Chancellor of the 9) disowns him... the Crone (ancient, female warrior fo

Tenderhearted long-haired hero and magical swords.

I’m familiar with the concept of the legend of Lemuria, and I like the mythology it inspired Kate Douglas to create for The DemonSlayers Book series. Read this book while suspending disbelief and enjoy the tale! The fantasy world and its multiple settings is perfectly detailed throughout the narrative. All right, I confess, I have a penchant for long-haired heroes and magical swords. There are parts in Hellfire that remind me of Japanese animatio

Kate Douglas had me hooked the first time I read Wolf Tales, to be honest, and I rarely dislike any of her work. I liked this one especially because it has a realistically strong heroine who happens to be a gorgeous women of color, specifically an African-American heroine. I love that Douglas, who is a Caucasian U.S. author, doesn't feel the need to restrict her heroes and heroines to one skin color. These novels have a lot of fun paranormal elements and a fast pace that makes them exciting, but ...more

While I really liked this book I was also a little disappointed by it. It didn't quite deliver the full package that I was expecting. You have action and romance and some major revelations that come out into the open, but I felt like for all that we really didn't get very far. You have Alton and Ginny becoming a couple and discovering that Ginny is really Limurean. You discover that Dax has become the demon kings target and that he has Dax's demon body now. Finally you discover that Alton's fath ...more

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but this was a did-not-finish for me. Maybe it's because I'm sick, but it didn't seem as fun--or as funny--as the first one. The repetitive inner musings and descriptions totally slowed down the pace, making the storyline completely lack urgency, and Ginny and Alton kept negatively comparing their three-day old romance to the two-week old "true and enduring love" found in Eddy and Dax's romance from the previous book. Add in that human culture is tr ...more

Just so so for me. We kept being taken back to the first story and it got boring after awhile. I did like the primary characters though and it was nice to have Dax and Eddy back. Oh BumperWillow too.
I would rate this one a 3.5, not really a three but not really a four either.
I don't want to discourage anyone from picking this book up and reading it, chances are you'll enjoy it. You sure don't need to read book one though so if you haven't don't worry about it. You'll do just fine starting here.

This is the second book in the Demonslayers series. I have to admit I agree with other reviewers that the inner musings by the H/H were a bit long-winded and repetitive. Would have loved a bit more action and world building instead. But overall, there was enough interesting developments to keep me persevering with the series.

This book lost a star because of the unbelievably annoying repetition of the phrase "nine hells!" ....tone it down, it was unnecessary as an exclamation in every single conversation.
I struggled to finish this book it seemed to drag on and lose my interest.
