One year ago, the world came to an end.

First came the rain.

Then came the screams.

Then came the undead.

The Haven became the only place in the city free of the walking dead. A place of community. A place to be safe.

Now, things have changed.

The zombies are coming to the Haven, seeking out the remaining survivors of the human race.

This is the beginning of a trilogy and I felt after reading this story that 90% of it was a set up for what comes with very few pages left in this first book.
What we have is what is essentially a character driven zombie story where we are introduced to four main characters who end up coming together through the course of this novel to join forces to face off against the dead in Winnipeg, Canada. They have all survived a year after a grey soup of a rain fell and instantly killed many people, tur

Long after the storm, the clouds remain and the world is a much darker place.

A group of survivors live in an apparently open area of a city that they call Haven. The people in Haven live seperately to avoid attention from the undead and communicate via the internet.

This book had a very promising beginning but due to (a small amount) of poor writing and a conclusion that seems almost as if the author was out of ideas I had to give it a 2.

I'm going to give the second book a chance...but I'm not holding out much hope.

Another zombie novel without much to offer.Reading this novel was like reading a comics book.

This book was actually pretty good until right before the end. At that point there was such a WTF moment that it turned me off of this completely.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Zombie fiction set in Winnipeg! I want some kind of social commentary in my zombie stories, and this was really just an action story.

A.P. Fuchs writes and publishes fulltime from Winnipeg, MB, and is most well known for his superhero series, The Axiom-man Saga. He spends most of his time writing about zombies and publishing books about them. His shoot em zombie novel, Blood of the Dead, is about just that and, obviously, goes without saying but hes saying it anyway.

He is also an avid movie buff and his reviews are posted at www
