Giulio Leoni torna in libreria con il quarto capitolo della saga dedicata al Sommo Poeta in veste di indagatore inaugurata nel 2000 con “Dante Alighieri e i delitti della Medusa” e proseguita con “I Delitti del Mosaico” e “I Delitti della Luce”, tutti pubblicati da Mondadori. Set in Rome, 1301, with Dante Alighieri as amateur sleuth, a fascinating premise that promised far more than it delivered.

For me, the main strength of this novel lies in the background; I advise reading the end notes before embarking on the novel, I think having a better background knowledge of the events and characters would enhance enjoyment of the plot. The historical detail is exacting, the personalities and events depicted seem almost too dramatic to be true, but true they apparently are -

Purtroppo non riconferma la qualità narrativa del primo libro. Troppo surreale e poca logica nella consequenzialità dei fatti. Dispersivo e narrazione molto lacunosa.
