This was my first "demon" book. I've stayed away from them for a while, but dash it all, this just sounded too good. I'm glad I finally caved.
The Good: Eden. I loved her! She was tough, empathetic and knew enough to be terrified shitless when the situation called for it. She didn't think she could take on the world (a character flaw that bugs me in most paranormal romance and urban fantasy) and was actively trying to get help when she needed it. She even knew when the help she was looking for wa...more

Pretty decent book. Third person POV. Bad demon becomes good demon. Good person unknowingly becomes black witch via sex. Yeah, that's different. LOL.
Protagonist is very relatable, quirky and funny. I like her.
Love the part about a Goonies poster!
Author didn't say how to get rid of the demon since the one person who could is now dead. Hm. . .
The ending was a nice surprise. Her father is a what? ;o)
I like this one. Curious to read the next.

I have not known Michelle Rowen until I have encountered the Dark Kiss (Nightwatchers series). I have craved for her writings ever since then. She has not yet failed me once of delivering such good novels. She has the ability to entertain her audience with great deal of romance, laughter, and supernatural factoids. She is very effective on transporting you from the real world to the LaLa Land. ;-)

The Demon in Me has a very original plot, but I find the characters were not very complex or deep. Basic scheme of the story: Eden Riley is a [sceptic] psychic who is convinced to help find a killer in a police investigation. She has an urge to open one of the doors in the serial killer's house, to find him waiting with a knife, and the killer admits to having a demon inside of him. Ben, the cop, shoots the killer, and a black cloud, which only Eden can see, rises from the dead man. Eden soon fi...more
After falling in love with the author's other books, I was excited to start another series by her. Michelle Rowen always has the ability to create a new world with witty humor, fun characters and all at a great pace to keep me interested from beginning to end. With this series, we meet Eden Riley. Eden has a small touch of psychic in her that she has been using to help the police in unsolved cases. In her first case with the police, she failed them. Now as she tries again with the next case, she...more

Demonic possession is the last thing on the mind of psychic consultant Eden Riley. When the police summon Eden and her unpredictable powers to help find an elusive serial killer, she is teamed up with the hunky Detective Ben Hanson.
After Ben saves Eden and guns down the killer, she discovers a demon named Darrak had possessed the criminal. With his host dead, Darrak needs another body to invade, and Eden makes an ideal choice.

Plot:
Luck hasn't really been in the cards for skeptical part-time psychic Eden Riley lately. So, it's no surprise when her sketchy psychic ability actually works to reveal a serial killer, only to have everything go wrong in a flash. And suddenly, she has a whole new set of worries in the form of Darrak, a demon that has now taken up residence within her. As the two work towards the common goal of freeing him from...more

I'm liking this series far more than I thought I would.
I've been a little burned out on vampires lately and went searching high and low for a good demon romance, because I thought that might be unique and interesting. But other than "Demon's Lexicon", every book series I could find with demon characters didn't really... remind me of demons? They were usually just your stock vampire PNR character except they don't drink blood.
In this one, the demon guy actually has demon-like traits and there's...more

This was a fun and easy read, with a good sense of romantic tension running through it. Eden has always been slightly psychic, little flashes of mostly useless information that is only normally good for finding lost keys or dogs. Finding a dog earns her a recommendation to assist the police force in finding a serial killer – and leads her straight to where he’s hiding. At this point, the demon currently using the killer’s body for a host, leaps to Eden’s body instead. His name is Darrak and for...more

My feelings toward this book are all mixed up. While reading it I just couldn't put it down, I had this itch to keep reading and reading but once I finish it I never felt like it was the best book ever or anything similar. It was a great read though, original and catching, I really liked it. I think it has a lot of potential to become an amazing series but it has also the potential to become one very, very lame. One can only hope next book is better and not one which will ruin everything.

fun.sexy.engaging. Those are just a few words I could use to descibe The Demon In Me. This is the first book in the Living In Eden series by Ms Rowen. Eden Riley becomes posessed by a demon who just happens to need her help in breaking a curse that keeps him in need of a human "host" body. Darrak is said demon and when in his "human' form is quite a looker which is making it very hard for Eden to have him exorcised from her so she can get on with her life. Darrak has told her he is a "good" demo...more
LOVED this book. A 4.5 Stars. This is a new author find for me. I've since downloaded several of her books. Have loved every one of them. The Demon in Me is hot, sexy, incredibly witty and funny. Eden is a psychic working as a consultant for the police. As a result of the murder of his host, Darrack is a demon forced to possess Eden by night but has control over his body by day...just as long as he stays within 90 feet of Eden. Darrack is hilarious and he and Eden are a fabulous couple. Eden is...more
Eden Riley is a skeptical psychic. After helping the Chief of Police's wife find her missing dog she was pressured into taking a job as a psychic consultant for the police. No one is more miserable about this arrangement than Eden. She freely admits that she doesn't believe she's psychic. She gets hunches that pan out, but she can't make herself have psychic visions. That means she's not psychic, right? Unfortunately for Eden, on her first consultant job she gets a hunch about where a serial kil...more
Eden Riley is a little bit psychic, and is currently working as a consultant for the police. When she meets with a police detective to assist in finding a serial killer, she doesn't really think she'll be able to help. She certainly doesn't think that when the detective guns down the killer the demon that was possessing him will be forced to enter her body.

laugh out loud romantic paranormal mystery
--Why did I read this? And am I glad I did?
I first came across The Demon in Me by Michelle Rowen via Smexy Book’s review, but wanted to wait until it was available for the Kindle to read. This book was EXACTLY what I needed right now! It made me laugh out loud, tense up with anticipation, and fan myself off :) And come on, a A Cyrano de Bergerac reference?! At that point I considered leaving my husband for Michelle. I ca...more

This is really a case of don't judge a book by its cover. I saw this on the new book shelf and skipped right over it. Saw the sequel (with the same cover practically) and just thought - it looks a bit cheesy. But something made me pick it up and look at the synopsis. Which led to finding the first of the series and testing the waters by reading the first few pages. I was sold.

Favorite quote: "If Hell had created an STD, this would be it."
Eden Riley is a "psychic consultant" to the police even though she really doesn't believe in her powers. When hunky police detective Ben Johnson guns down a serial killer in front of her, Eden's unreliable psychic powers give her a gift. And that gift is Darrak.

I was really surprised by Michelle Rowen's latest the Demon In Me. I enjoyed her Fanged and Fabulous series as a very light but forgettable read. The Demon in Me was a bit darker, edgier, and yes, still funny, read.
Eden Riley is a psychic that doesn't really believe in psychics (I know, right?) when she is paired with the delicious detective Ben aka golden boy to solve a murder. Fate doesn't seem to like Eden Riley much these days - she is attacked and almost killed by the serial killer hiding i...more

This book took me so long to review, and it's not because I didn't enjoy it. In fact, I think that, if anything, The Demon in Me is a refreshingly new twist to paranormal books.
Readers meet Eden, a young woman living on her own. She's struggling to make ends meet within a dying business. Hired as a "psychic consultant", our heroine is exploring a serial killer's home. Imagine her surprise when she stumbles upon our friendly neighborhood demon Darrak, who wastes no time in poss...more

Actually, I finished this awhile ago, but I don't remember when. Lots of good stuff I do remember though! This was a fairly quick read. Towards the end there were some unexpected twists. It was left wide open for a sequel...and I'm not sure how she's going to pull it off, because she gave herself a time limit.

I give this one 2.5 stars. While there were some aspects I enjoyed, I also occasionally thought to myself "I've seen this in another book". The concept in this book involves a demon living in a host (cough cough Jenna Black's series) and the demon is trying to get his ability to live outside a host back after he was cursed by a witch. His new host is a woman named Eden and she's a psychic. Because of her unique energy, the demon is able to take human form but only when he is in close proximity t...more

If it was the author's intent to make me really doubt nature the male protagonist (and I suspect it was), she did a good job, perhaps too good. A little more than quarter way through I thought there was a real possibility Darrak could end up being the bad guy even while knowing that it's not Rowen's style and would be atypical for this type of novel. However, it's possible that that would have made for a more intriguing story.

I decided to buy the book after reading a sample on my kindle. Hmm.. a demon possession. Sounds kind of interesting. I think I should've bought a book I really wanted to read for $7.99. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, but it was JUST OK, and definitely not worth the price.
I don't know who I had a problem with more Eden or Darrack. The uncle was quite funny especially talking to Darrack like he was actually slow. The book just didn't set right with me. I will not be finishing the series....more

All in all I enjoyed this one. Again, it wasn't the deepest novel ever written (Um, yes, there might be a recurring theme in my reading material of late... What of it?? :-), it obviously wasn't meant to be and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
I liked the main characters. I enjoyed the plot and the side characters were also fun. There was some fun humor sprinkled in as well. I'm also looking forward to the next novel (this first novel does end on a bit of a cliffhanger).

Michelle Rowan always confuses me. Not her stories, just my own feelings toward them. I like them. Her characters always appeal to me, and her plotting has a good pace. The problem is, I always feel there is something missing, but can never put my finger on it.
