Regency. Lady Calandra should have suitors beating down her door. But her overprotective brother, the Duke of Rochford, has managed to scare off every suitable gentleman. Every man except the mysterious Earl of Bromwell, that is. Callie finds herself drawn to the enigmatic earl, despite her brother's almost violent protestations.

In defiance of her brother's wishes, Callie

Recommends it for: fans of light Regencies
Lady Callandra can't understand why her brother Sinclair insists that she have nothing to do with Lord Bromwell, and she's far too stubborn to follow his command -- especially since Brom is the most attractive man she's ever met. But an ugly history of lies and hatred lurks beneath Brom's courtship of Callie... and someone else is determined that it will get even uglier.

This is a bit tame as revenge stories go, because Brom, though using Callie to hurt her brother, is far too honorable to actual

A few years ago, I picked up one of Candace Camp's regency novels and fell in love. "The Wedding Challenge" is the third book of her 'Matchmakers' series and her most recent.

Callie is the sister of the Duke of Rochford and at 23, she's independent and socially savvy and doesn't need a watchdog. Why then is her brother being so pig-headed and trying to dictate who she can and can't see? Especially since she's finally met someone who makes her heart beat faster...

The Earl of Bromwell despises the

Her şey bunun yüzünden olmuş!!

Similar to when I first read The Bridal Quest, I found the opening chapters dull. They seemed to serve as more of an info dump about what has happened previously in the series, who is friends with whom, etc. rather than setting up for the rest of the book or introducing Lady Calandra’s character. However, since I did like The Bridal Quest, I pushed through the first two chapters to finally get to where the story begins.

I can’t say I liked Callie or Bromwell too much, especially in the first hal

Usually by the third book in a series, the characters can grow a little tiresome and the plots a little thin. There's some of that in the beginning of this book but it really picks up towards the end. This one focuses on Calandra, younger sister of Sinclair, Duke of Rochford. Calandra has known Francesca, matchmaker extraordinare since childhood too since she grew up on a neighboring estate. Add to these familiar people Bromwell, an earl and things get roiled.

Brom and Callie meet at a masked bal

This is the third book in Candace Camp's delicious series, The Matchmaker. The beautiful Callie, siter of the Duke of Rochford, fall for mysterious Earl of Bromwell. Unfortunaely her brother and her Earl apparently despise each other. And ehat exactly Bromwell's intention to Callie? Did he only want for revange or did he actually care for her?

While I already the last book The Courtship Dance (The Matchmakers #4) by Candace Camp (another delighful book!), thus I knew the reason why Bromwell hated Rochford, but this book still grab my attention. I rea

Francesca, Lady Haughston, steals the story, she's the best character. She's the facilitator, matchmaker, who steps in to save the day. Her foil, the Duke of Rochford, also has a star turn, as Francesca revises her opinion of him at the end of the book.

But the main story is Callie and Bromwell. Callie is the Duke's much younger sister, overprotected, and a bit naive. Bromwell is a charming stranger who her brother warns her away from, even though he's probably the most eligible gentleman on the

Characters: Standard, although the secondary characters were interesting.
World Building: standard
Plot: Internal
Sex: Tepid.

I really shouldn't read any more by Camp. Maybe the next book in the series will be interesting.

I needed something to read right at a given moment, I reached into my TBR pile and pulled this one out. It was a lovely romantic Regency-era tale. I liked both Callie and Bromwell and I thought they worked well together as a couple. The secondary characters added a lot of dimension. There was a definite undercurrent flowing between Sinclair and Francesca - I'm looking forward to seeing how that is resolved later.

Book three of this series started in much the same way as the previous two. With great anticipation only to be dissapointed. When the two main characters first met there was a witty repartee that promised much. But shortly thereafter it was as if there had been a transfusion of sickly sweetness (enough to set one's teeth on edge). It seemed to permeate the story and it could not recover.

Although I am enjoying "The Matchmakers" series I really only finished this book so I would have any info for the next book which is about Francesca. This was a weak story with just okay characters. As matter of fact, I started a new book when I thought I had forgotten this book at my hairdresser and finished the other book before I went back to finish this.

This had its good points and bad points. Likable main characters even the naughty ones. Lady Daphne is hands down one of the most venomous lady villains in romance noveldom, i was almost sorry to see her washed up by the end of the novel. She could give Iago a lesson or two. But shakespeare it ain't... another volume in a good series of brain candy.

Kay pointed out that Candace Camp only shows the male point of view periodically and that it deters from the book, so I was conscious of it while reading this story. At one point I questioned liking the hero because his point of view was not revealed. I really enjoyed more of Francesca's background story and can't wait for her story in the next book.

This was a guilty pleasure book, but a breath of fresh air after trying to read a few boring intellectual books :) I really liked how both main characters were instantly attracted to each other, and how both pursued the other. I also liked how there weren't any petty, annoying fights between the the main characters. Would def read this one again.

I needed a lighter book for a train journey the other day... Third in this series I've enjoyed so far. It's rather predictable of course, but still a fun read. This one is about Rochford's sister Callie... Will number four finally be Francesca's book?
Virginia
Lady Calandra can be quite an annoying ninny at times, but mostly she is enjoyable. As usual, I am more fascinated by Francesca and Rochford so you'll forgive me if I cut short the review only to rush off and read their story.
Cary
I like the beginning and end although a tiny bit in the middle seemed to drag. I liked hearing about past characters and that sort of continuity. this would have to be rated subtle for sensuality.
