I really enjoyed this book. It really showed to me that when tragedy strikes, how it really affects you. Echo's sister, Zoe, was abducted and murdered by an internet predator. Throughout the book, Marc - Zoe's boyfriend at the time, recovered Zoe's diary and gave it to Echo. Since Echo has read this diary, and uncovered all of the things that Zoe has done - or did, she sort of "longs" to be like Zoe. I thought this book has a great plot and writing style. I like how the book has combination between a diary and a regular chapter book because this tells two stories, one story is about a fifteen-year-old girl named Echo, who has to deal with a tragedy, having the lost of her older sister, Zoe. The other story is about Zoe’s diary, and her secret life. Echo reads her sister’s diary to get to know her better and tries to connect with her or maybe find some clues that could lead to her death.

I was originally interested in this book because of the cover that said fans of Veronica Mars would love this. As a VM fan, I had to pick it up and I'm so glad I did! This book is amazing. I feel very passionately that this is a must read. The writing is excellent and the story draws you in. I wanted to like this more than I did, but at the end of the day I didn't think the characterization of Echo, the protag, was consistent enough. I get she was sort of split between trying to be Zoe and then of course just being herself, but it was weird to read a book narrated by a fifteen-year-old with no experience who would then be so blase about making out with a boy, about drinking, about so many first-time experiences. This book was well written with interesting characters and a pretty good story line. It wasn't exceptional by any means, but it was enjoyable.

Fifteen years old girl, Echo is in a difficult time since her sister is murdered. She is unable to cheer up rather living under her sister's shadow. Echo's life starts to change when she meets Zoe's boyfriend, Marc. Marc gives Echo a diary of her sister that Echo slowly finds close to her sister, Zoe. Ms. Noel, I am in love with your writing. I thought your paranormal books had me hooked, but boy was I ever wrong!
What had me in admiration of this book was the feel of it. Ms. Noel writing is not only easy to read, but easy to fall in the main character. I have very mixed feelings about this book.
At some points in it i was very pleased and happy.
Other times I was sad and depressed.
but most of the time I was just frusterated...

It's not a "fluff" book. I was impressed with Alyson Noel's subtle style, especially with showing the dangers of MySpace and the predators who troll there. She didn't preach or spell anything out, yet the messages were clear.
Echo's older sister, Zoe, died a year ago. Echo, starting high school, is given her diary which helps Echo understand who Zoe really was.

Saving Zoe is an amazing book about the recovery one must go through after losing a loved one. Echo's sister Zoe was brutally murdered by a sick, twisted internet predator. Echo has to learn to cope with this horrific loss while going through stages of depression. more 3.5, but I rounded up ...Wow, this book totally left me speechless, and it was due for the most part to like the last 30 pages or so. The novel was good throughout, but it was not great and it reminded me of a novel I had previously read, and then all of a sudden things started to change and bam you are hit with a really great story and ending. Saving Zoe was just a great, can't-put-down kind of read. Although the main subject of the book is heart-wrenching, Alyson Noel also brought on a whole lotta laughs. There were so many laugh out loud moments, and hilarious one liners. Echo's witty humour was addicting, making it nearly impossible to stop reading. At first I thought that the writing style of this book was horrible, and I wasn't sure how I was going to get through it. I thought it was a really good book though. It's sad and really thoughty provoking. I found myself thinking about it after I had read it. The fact that they incorporate the diary is really cool, and how she tries to live through the diary. In my estimation, books are like people. If some books are long-time friends, "Saving Zoe" was like a pleasant seat-mate on a airplane. It made the journey go by fast but you couldn't wait for the end, moving on without looking back.
This book hit really close to home. Not in the, "I lost a loved one to serial killer" kind of way, just in the way that an adult recognizes how many stupid choices we can make as a teenager. I think about all the ways I could have been in trouble if just the right twist of fate had led me to certain circumstances. Enjoyed this fine as I read it, but I in the end I was kind of annoyed with the message. Lots of partying going on here, with the only message of why you shouldn't act like that being: a) You might get drugged and forced to make a sex tape or b) Murdered by the guy who promised to take your professional photographs. I did not like Zoe (the dead sister), and felt that the left behind sister romanticized her now that she was gone.

La mia è una voce controcorrente tra i commenti positivi dati qui su anobii a questo libro, ma purtroppo non sono riuscita ad apprezzarlo.
Prima di tutto voto negativo alla forma: ok che si tratta di adolescenti, ma non necessariamente adolescenti è sinonimo di cavernicole!
