I came across this title in a list of books that parents could use to talk about different kinds of family structures. I think it's hilarious and kind of adorable, and even though I've read some critical comments about the illustrations I would say they have a kind of idiosyncratic style that will totally attract some kids (and be boring to other kids - but that's true of all illustration).

Else-Marie is worried and embarrassed when her seven little daddies come to pick her up from playgroup, but when they are able to help with a school project, Else-Marie reconsiders. The sketchy watercolors are whimsical and amusing, making the concept of seven tiny daddies seem almost normal (though still pretty silly). Facial expressions are done well, and the sepia tones of Else-Marie's imaginings make those segments stand out from the more typically-colored main storyline. Some images take up ...more
Else-Marie hat sieben kleine Papas. Sie sehen alle gleich aus, sind Handelsreisende und mit Mama verheiratet. Leider sind die Papas manchmalö auch ganz schön albern.
Else-Marie is not imagining things; she really has seven little daddies. I couldn't help but smile at the fun illustrations.
