This a very pretty quilt pattern book with a few Civil War era pioneer lady journal entries thrown in. The journal exerpts are from the diaries of the author 's great great grandmother. None of that grandmother's quilts survived. So the quilts in the book are mostly repros and antique store finds. The patterns are typical of the era (yep, churn dash, shoo fly, log cabin) and none are paper pieced. So there 's nothing particularly unique about this book. I pulled this book through interlibrary loan solely for one pattern. I skimmed the book and noted that it was more about the diaries and history of this one family. Interesting, yes, and if I had more time I might have enjoyed it for that angle, but I was really here for just one pattern (the Crossroads pattern, btw) and that was all.
