This is one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. Actually, the first time I read it, I thought it was good, but didn't love it. But for whatever reason, the story stuck in my head and I found myself wanting to read it again. So I did, about a year later, I guess. And it became one of my favorites.

The book has a little bit of everything, which is perhaps why I like it so much. Love and betrayal, family reunions, horses, mystery, self-discovery...and so much more. I enjoy the story alone because of

Terminado.

In almost Nora Robert's books I often learn something new. This time is horses. Here in my country, there aren't much horses, and usually it's used as a means of transportation. So I don't know much about horses, much less about horse racing. But I enjoyed reading this book. It doesn't bored me even when I don't know anything about horses. And it gives me new knowledge for sure.

About the plot, it's good enough that it keeps me from putting down the book, but not much surprise here. I can pinpoin

Disappointed in this one, Nora. The reason I love your books is your unique way of inviting us into a character's world and making us feel like part of the family. Your writing is usually heartwarming and funny, but True Betrayals fell flat. The characters were stiff and I didn't get to enjoy getting to know them well. I have tolerance of some stereotyping, but Grandma was a little overboard. (I know, I know, she had her reasons.)

Of all the characters, Naomi was the most intriguing and had so m

I've never read a Nora Roberts book before, and a friend gave me this to listen to on audio books. I was intrigued about the race horsing part of the story, and learned some interesting facts about the racing world and the players involved in the care-taking of horses. That said, True Betrayals was otherwise completely uninteresting! The characters weren't particularly intriguing, the pacing of the book was ridiculously slow (it felt as though Roberts had to fill in every single blank for the re ...more

Same old lust-at-first-sight and sex scenes that are just moved from book to book automatically. Nora Roberts is a better writer than she thinks she is. Though the surface plot is obvious, the issues and subplots are really good, sometimes thought-provoking. The use of horseracing as a background made for interesting settings and descriptions. I wish she would ditch the hash and write a novel worthy of herself.

Kelsey decides to give her mother a chance and stays at the horse farm where she falls in love with the horses, and meets the next door neighbor, Gabe Slater. Somehow, someway I missed this book when it came out. I know I was already a Nora Roberts fan when it was released in 1995, but my last year of college may have interfered with my reading.

This novel shows the dark side of human nature -- not just in the horse racing world but overall as humans and what we can do to each other in the name of love.

I didn't want to like Gabe at the beginning. I don't think we readers were supposed to -- but I could tell he was a standup guy off the bat.

Okay, so that was pretty good as far as NR's suspense romances go. I'd say I liked about half of them more and half of them less than this book. The narrator was pretty good though, so there is that!

I thought the race horses were really interesting. I thought the gambling would bother me, but there just wasn't that much of it. The people (and horses *sadface*) getting killed made for an intriguing suspense element. I knew just enough of both sides (good and bad) to keep me satisfied wit

I actually love this book more than I thought I would. When I picked up this book, I thought it would be a hopeless romance book. But this turned out to be my favorite kind of genre, mystery and romance. I love that Kelsey was able to have sense and know that she needs to be honest with herself and stop keep trying blame herself or live uo to those standards tgat was set for her. I love that Gabe was perfect for her. I love that this is not just a simple love story, but a story with ups and down ...more

I could start by telling you how much I love Nora and nearly all her writing, but if you read my reviews that much is clear.

So instead, I'll just stress this novel and its impact. I loved it. I loved it enough to give five stars which I don't always do with Nora's works.

Kelsey lives in rose-colored world until she finally steps out of her life and into her mother's home at her horse ranch. She and her mother are so-to-speak estranged from her mother's time in prison for murder. She meets her mo

This is one of my all time favorite books that I have read in a long time.True Betrayals is a strong novel with a delicious romance and exciting, nerve wracking suspense. The main character is Kelsey who was raised by her father, chairman of the English Department at Georgetown University. She was taught all of the “proper” ways of living as a lady in the city of DC. She marries because she is “expected” to because of the status of the man and it does not work and ends in a divorce. While she is ...more

Nora Roberts is easily my favourite author. Whenever I go to a book store, the first author I look out for is her. "True Betrayals" follows the story of a girl still discovering herself, and the truth behind her past. Through the search for self-discovery, Kelsey meets not only some long lost relatives, but finds romance among her new life. Mystery is worked into the plot of the novel through the mysterious deaths and pasts of the characters.
What I like best about the novel is that almost everyt

If I had known this book had horse-racing in it, I would have never picked it up and I would have missed out on a great book. Now I should explain that I love horse-racing, but rarely does a book capture the actual thrill of it and make you feel like you are there, this book does that.
It starts off with a girl, fresh from a divorce, finding out she been lied to by several people, one is her dad, about her mother...she isn't dead.
It becomes a journey for Kelsey, discovering her mother, discover

Pois bem, encontrei neste a 3ª. E são todas mulheres. Estranho...

I'm a sucker for stories set in the world of racehorses, or horses in general, so True Betrayals had an advantage going in. That said, I wasn't overly impressed with the book. Part of that was that the pacing which, especially in the first half, was slow. The reader gets introduced to all the players but not a whole lot else happens. Secondly, it took me a while to warm up the Kelsey. I didn't dislike her, and was even sympathetic, but she's a very reserved individual and it comes across. Perhap ...more
