This chicklit title can't decide whether it wants to be an outrageous comedy like the Louise Rennison "Georgia Nicholson" series, or be a more serious story about divorce, communication and relationships. It's not bad, but it's not that good, either.
Evangeline's parents are separated, and so she tries to help her mom out as much as she can with the housework. While vacuuming her mom's room, she finds a stash of cheesy romances, including one called The Crimson Kiss. She finds he More...

Van Draanen, Wendelin. 2008. Confessions of A Serial Kisser.
I'm on the fence with Confessions of A Serial Kisser. I loved the opening chapters where we are introduced to the narrator, Evangeline, and catch a glimpse of the premise. A young teen girl, who discovers, while cleaning, her mother's stash of trashy, smutty romance books. Out of pure curiosity and with a bit of disdain, she starts looking at them. She starts by reading the blurbs, then progresses to reading random passages. B More...

Evangeline is in search of the perfect kiss. She’ll stop at nothing to find a kiss like the one in A Crimson Kiss, the romance novel she found hidden under her mom’s bed. But finding that life-changing kiss proves to be more difficult than she had anticipated. Lots of boys seem to have potential but when tested are really “missers”, ear lickers, or fish-lipped kissers. She wonders if any of her kisses will ever rival Delilah and Grayson’s in A Crimson Kiss.

Didn't like this book. I can never resist a good chick-lit but this book was just immature. I read a chapter, 2 chapters, 3 chapters... however many chapters up until her first kiss. It moved too fast! And the chance that she can all the sudden do a transformation from not to hot is incredibly stupid. It doesn't take a day, it takes at least a week to adjust to your hair, a week to perfect your make up. It took I believe overnight for E (that's her nickname from me. Too lazy to spell out the res

This is the story of a girl who, in the wake of her parents' divorce, decides that her destiny is to find the "crimson kiss," something she read about in her mom's secret stash of romance novels. She goes about kissing a variety of guys at school and in other areas of her life, creating chaos.
I Love this Book because it had me luaghing and wanting to read more.

CONFESSIONS OF A SERIAL KISSER is just the kind of light and sweet read that I want: plenty of straightforward cuteness without the melodrama and inanity. It’s a great combination of confectionary-like escapism with relatable realism.
Evangeline’s character, while seemingly simple (she wants that feeling of belonging and safety that characters in her romance novels have), is actually delightful well-rounded. Despite her rather successful attempts to be a gutsy and attention-grabbing g More...

So far, the chapters are irritatingly short. I don't know why the author feels the need to create a new chapter for every conversation, train of thought, or miniscule event; but it's aggravating and unnecessary.
As far as my thoughts of the main character are concerned, she's coming off to me as something resembling a slut. There's nothing wrong with wanting a kiss to be special or fantastic. But that doesn't excuse the fact that all she's really doing is flirting with and kissing ran More...

Evangeline is a 16 year old in search of the perfect kiss. Her efforts to renew her self image are fueled by a self help book found among her mother's things and a romance novel filled with unrealistic goals. Like most of us, Evangeline falls in love with the idea from the romance novel that one perfect kiss is what she needs to start new.
The chemistry in this book seems just about right for teens. The descriptions of each kiss encounter were a delight to read. I was disappointed wit More...

I've learned a lot of things from reading.
I didn't realize this specifically from this book, but it did reinforce my beliefs—
Any book that has a title like this: "Confessions of a Fill-in-the-Blank" is going to be hilarious.
In general, the main character is a girl living with her mom or some other female relative. (Example? Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet. Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer. You catch my drift)

Ever since Evangeline found her mother's secret stash of trashy romance books, she's wanted something called a Crimson Kiss, sure that it's going to light fireworks and make her the happiest creature on Earth. That's when she gives herself a haircut, puts on some make-up, and becomes a serial kisser.
I don't think I'm what the book is initially trying to target. Pre-teens and fourteen year olds will enjoy this, but not anyone else. This was outright ridiculous. I couldn't identify wi More...

I think parts of this book were really strong, and parts of it were not. I really liked the main character, Evangeline. I felt like her responses were just right on the money, and for that I loved the book. I feel like too often writers are out of sync with teens, but this author really wrote her teen character well. If I was in her situation, especially with her parents, I would have acted the same way!

I got a kick out of this book. It was funny and cute. The character was quirky, and charismatic. It shows experiences that all of us have with our first kisses, and a few times I was having trips down memory lane.
One of the things that made me laugh in this book was they way the boys reacted to her random kisses. Aren't boys supposed to be all macho and tough? I guess not. (:.

At first when I started this book I thought it was really dumb and un-realistic, but then in the end it had a powerful lesson to teach. It is about a girl who wants to find the perfect kiss, so she goes around kissing all these random dudes to see if he will be her perfect kisser. It's really strange of her because she kinda just goes up to random people on the sidewalk and kisses them. Then a lot of people (myself included) starting thinking she was a slut or something. But then in the end she

As the person who told me about this book says "It's very pink". definitely a girl book, in other words. There are a few rare boys who would read it, but not many.

You may hear the words serial killer many times before, but how many times have you heard of, a serial kisser? It's certainly my first time. In this story, Evangeline, the protagonist, was inspired by a book, name "The Crimson Kiss", to find a crimson kisser. So she goes around her high school, looking for the perfect lips to lock with. Unfortunately, instead of finding someone who can give a crimson kiss, she came upon guys who gives sloppy, breath-stinking kisses and (Uh-Oh!)an ear l

Confessions of A Serial Kisser is one of the funniest book I have ever read. And that’s saying a lot since I’ve read tons of books which I’m sure you guys all know. :)
What I loved about Confessions of A Serial Kisser was the hilarity of the plot. It was entertaining and definitely kept me engrossed in Evangeline’s story. It was interesting to see how Evangeline got her “inspiration” from a romance novel, The Crimson Kiss, and how she went about in obtaining that “crimson kiss.” Her p More...

Moral of the story....don't go around kissing strangers becasue in High School you will be thought of as a slut. Or something like that.
Actually I think letting yourself be free enough to try and find your passion or your dreams is a really cool thing. Most of us, myself included, don't allow ourselves to open up to the possibility of the possibility. We instead wonder what if?

Conessions of a Serial Kisser is a great book for girls. Its funny, romantic and has some drama in it. Once you start reading it you'll find that you just HAVE to keep reading on. It's defiantly one of those books you get hooked to. Confessions of a Serial Kisser isn't part of a series but the author- Wendelin Van Draanen- has written some other great books like Flipped, and Runaway. What made me like this book was that the main character- Evangeline- really expresses her feelings and thoughts i

This book was very cute and girly. It's about a girl trying to find a perfect kiss and she goes around randomly kissing lots of boys at her high school. There is drama with her father and eventually drama with her best friend thrown in too. The plot definitely had layers to it. Evangeline is a very confused teen just trying to figure life out. I liked the characters and I thought the story flowed nicely. Not the best girly YA novel I've ever read, but I still enjoyed it and would suggest i

She's been spending the first half of the school year not living her life like she should. She can't go out for volleyball, because her father was dating the mother of one of the girls on the team. In Confessions of a Serial Kisser, Evangeline has always been a "good girl," receiving good grades, hanging out with "good friends." She now lives with her mother in a tiny apartment having moved out of her childhood home after her parents' separation. One day she's cleaning in her mother's room and finds a box of romance novels under her mother's bed. One of these books, A Crimson Kiss, draws her in, and she sets upon a mission to get her own crimson kiss. This mission soon

I'm hesitant to say that I was disapointed by this book. I'm not quite sure what I should have expected based on the synopsis and first few pages of the story. I certainly expected more depth from Wendelin Van Draanen. I loved Flipped and was hoping for a similar voice. This book was shallow, and I don't say this just because the topic is about a teenage serial kisser whose only goal for the first three quarters of the book is to kiss every boy she comes in contact with (seriously, it becomes a

I liked this book yes, but there was something missing that I just can't put my finger on. Granted, I finished the book in two days ( that might be because we're on vacation and all I've been doing is reading and tanning ) but I don't know if I actually enjoyed it. I found that it was pretty predictable, and the way she would go up and randomly kiss guys was a little far fetched. No one I know would ever do that... but I guess that's why it's called fiction. All in all, it wasn't to bad.

This book is awsome because you get to know what its like to have your first kiss, but theres a catch. This book teaches you to never be to desperate for a boy because people might make fun of you. Wendilin wants a first kiss so bad that people started to right her numbers on the bathroom walls. It also teaches you to not get your boyfriends and your friends mixed up. The reason why s because she actually kissed her best friends crush. You have to read it ! its crazy !
