This is one of my childhood favorites. Yet, again, this story would not be as interesting as Eloise Wilkin creates it. The beautiful illustration bring power to the words of the story.

Children's writer Jane Werner Watson (1915-2004) was born in Fond du Lac, Wis. She earned a B.A. in English in 1936 from the University of Wisconsin, began a career in publishing, and became a prolific writer who specialized in non-fiction.

She was one of the first editors for the original Golden Books series, and wrote books for Disney series.

She also wrote under the names Elsa Jane Werner Watso
