My favourite of the series.

Alexander MacLean(39) is looking for revenge on Caitlin Hurst(23) after her planned trap for him, ending up in his brother Hugh being forced to marry her sister Triona. He asks his exmistress to invite Cait to her house party in order to ruin her in society. Cait soon finds out what he is up to and they make a wager, they each have to complete 3 tasks. If Alexander wins he gets Cait as his mistress for 2 weeks ,if he loses Cait gets a proposal in view of everyone(so sh

Although this is probably the best written of the "Maclean Curse" series, I just could not bring myself to enjoy a story in which an almost 40 year old man maliciously sets out to destroy a 23 year old, innocent (although impulsive) girl's life and her reputation, then humiliate her in front of all society.

I'm going to say this is 4.75 Stars, the only thing keeping it from the full five is that the ending, the wrap-up, the HEA seemed a little rushed, especially considering the sheer tension of the relationship between Alexander and Caitlyn. Also, while the kissing and the teasing was delicious, once it came time for the boogie-woogie, the consummation of their flirtation if you will, I could've used some more steam, some more details or something. But wow, I really enjoyed this book. I flew throug ...more

Well, I finally got to read this book.. and I did so in few hours only to be slightly disappointed as from the storyline I expected much more. Can we give this plot to someone like Lisa Kleypas to re-do it?

Maybe I am being much too harsh, but I haven't been having pleasant experiences with regencies lately and it's turning me into a bit of a shrew.

Ah, I feel blue..I absolutely enjoyed this series quite a lot and I'm sad to see it end. In this last one, the oldest McLean brother Alexander faces a challenge called Caithlyn Hurst.

From the previous book we know that these two already met and enjoyed a flirtation that ended up in dislike for one another. Or so they think, because we know where this bickering usually leads to. And yes, my favourite love theme catches up with these two as well.

I loved the interactions between Alexander and Cai

Ah! What a end to the series!!!
I absolutely tumbled into love with Alexander, although in the first book, I doubted my ability to do so. He is perfectly matched with Caitlyn. This is the second book of the series that has successfully made me feel so many things all at once. I was laughing, upset, mad and foolishly smiling all throughout the book!
ANd the author added a EPILOGUE! I mean I kept wondering from the first book, why doesn't she add an epilogue to her books. It just rounds off the endi

I was a bit disappointed by this book. I wanted to like it a lot because in general the writing and the setting were really well done. However, I feel that the main heroine and "hero" (and I say that loosely because he does some pretty rotten things) are so focused on getting revenge or avenging a wrong done for an event that doesn't even take place in this book. I really just don't sympathize with the characters obsession over the aforementioned "event" because I (as the reader) never saw what ...more

This is my favorite story and cover of all time. Karen Hawkins is a genius that create a story in which you feel a part of the events occurring. This is the final story of the series. Alexander MacLean has sworn to get revenge against Caitlyn Hurst for embarrassing him and creating a scandal which caused his brother Hugh to get married. Alexander makes sure that Caitlyn attends a house party where he plans his revenge. Caitlyn and Alexander agree to 3 challenges based on an old tale in order to ...more

Very well written! I liked the humor and charm of the story. The age difference was a bit much, but acceptable none-the-less. Caitlyn is strong of heart and character, while Alexander is strong of character he is also strong of mind. Together these two clash, and while storm clouds rage and a wager runs amok with passion, these two learn what it means to love and not let go. I really enjoyed the second tasks the most. I found them terribly hilarious! In fact the whole book was quite humorous and ...more

YES! My first purchase ever online and it was to get the final book in the MacLean Curse series. I ordered it and waited impatiently for it to arrive and when it did, with other books and items, I was squealing all over my house and my family was watching me like if I was crazy, but I did not care.

After all the excitement I waited a few more days before I read the book and consumed it within one day. Happy and heart broken, they always say that the journey is what people look forward for rather

I'm torn as to how I feel about this book. On the one hand I love Karen Hawkins' writing, and I've enjoyed this light fun series. I enjoy the interaction between the two main characters, the sexual tension and the humor. The plot, however mad e little sense to me. Alexander is the laid of the clan and feels humiliated by Caitlin. She caused a scandal that forced her twin to marry Alexander's brother Hugh (the subject of the previous book).

I understand that Alex is supposed to have hurt pride an

I was disappointed in the book and enjoyed the first book Sleepless in Scotland better. Both Caitlyn Hurst and Alexander MacLean were introduced in the first book and proved interesting in their story they were a bit boring and the storyline was over the top.

Laird Alexandar MacLean wanted to get even with Caitlyn Hurst for embarrassing him and entrapping his brother and her sister in marriage because of her deceptive plans. MacLean's plan is simple to seduce and ruin Caitlyn's reputation.

This is the final book of the MacLean series and I truly enjoyed the light heartedness of the book.
Alexander, is the dark haired-green eyed Laird of the MacLean Clan and is almost 40 years old and is having a difficult time coming to terms with his age compared to Caitlyn's 23 years. He thinks that becase of the age difference if he marriaged/loved her that would ruin him, as it did to one of his best friends. I thought all the comments made about the age difference and his response totally hil

Lover of Romance
Alexander MacLean, the oldest of the Maclean clan, has been both amused yet frustrated by the enticing Caitlyn Hurst, then after the incident that trapped his brother into marriage, he desired revenge against her. However, he knew it wouldn't be easy, with Caitlyn matching him on every level. Caitlyn Hurst, even after seeing that her sister and her husband are very much in love, she wonders if she will ever be so lucky as to find that as well. She has been attracted to Alexander ever since she m ...more

This is the book that deals with Caitlyn's story and Alexander Maclean the clan laird. I think this is the last of the Maclean Series I'm hoping that the author will do some books telling the story of Caitriona and Caitlyn's siblings. I now plan to backtrack and read the three I missed. Possible Spoiler--- The ending in my opinion seems to leave it open as to whether the curse is broken or not it seems there is a discrepancy as to who actually did one of the good deeds. I'm hoping that although ...more
Alexandria Tale
It was a good read, especially the bet. Hilarious! Anyway, the story started from our hero, Alexander MacLean, who wanted to avenge his brother to Caitlyn, our heroine. The problem was told in the previous book, it seemed when Caitlyn wanted to trap Alexander to propose her, something happened and it was her twin and his brother who needed to marry instead. Even though his brother was happy with his marriage, he still kept some grudges towards Caitlyn. He intended to embarrass her in front of ev ...more

This book was actually better than I give it credit for being. I think I just was not in the reading mode. I generally like books that are set in the early 1800s and this one was. I like the formal language and all the stiffness of the era. Caitlyn is a beautiful young girl who is invited to a party (lasted about 3 weeks) at the castle/home of Georgianna. Georgianna had been pestered to ask Caitlyn by Alexander, her former lover. Alexander had met Caitlyn in London and felt his family had been s ...more

I have really enjoyed the MacLean Curse series, but this book, not so much. For that, I have to like and respect the main characters, and that didn't really happen here. In the previous book, Caitlyn felt spurned by Alexander, so she set a trap to force him into having to offer for her (and then she planned to publicly reject him). Instead, her sister and his brother were caught in the trap and 'had' to marry. Alexander feels that she needs to be taught a lesson, so he gets her invited to a Scot ...more
Once Upon
Following up from the previous book, Alexander MacLean is set on ruining Caitlyn Hurst for causing an array of embarrassing situations to his family and getting his brother in a position where he had no choice but to marry her twin sister.
The curse is always latent and the sexy male with a big ego makes a big part of the story, especially when he encounters the female he can't forget and impossible to ignore when she brings upon him one daring situation after the other.

I liked the book, but miss

I got to tell you this is a hot book and it's not the sex. It's the by play between Alexander and Caitlyn. I love the hero. He's out for revenge against the heroine but he's falling in love and trying so hard not to that it's funny. There are jealous side characters in the way and Alex can't stop blaming her because of what she did her last London season to trick him wound up forcing his brother into a marriage of convenience with her twin sister. Even though the marriage is happy now. Caitlyn i ...more

I won a romance package at an auction. It allowed me to talk to the author and create a character for her novel. As a surprise to my mother, Karen incorporated her into this novel (Sally, the friend of the main female character). How could I not love it!

This is a good series.

Alexander, the Laird of Clan MacLean wants to take revenge on Caitlyn Hurst for making him look like a fool in London recently. He has asked his former lover Georgina, the Duchess of Roxburg to invite her for a week in the country. When he meets her they egg each other on so that they start a wager that of course neither wants to lose. Caitlyn has proposed that if she wins MacLean must ask her to marry him in front of everyone at the house party, he in turn tells her that i
