Blind Hope is the story of an unwanted dog and the woman she rescued. Mia is an abused canine in need of a good home and lots of love. Laurie is a lost female searching for peace and answers to questions she can't seem to put words to. When Laurie decides to adopt Mia, she hopes to find contentment in the fact that she has reached out to one less fortunate. What she discovers, however, is that Mia is the one doing the rescuing.

This was a very simple read just a nice relaxing book. While it was predictable in what was going to happen in the book it was still an enjoyable read.

I enjoyed Alexia and her very normal life that many teens living here in the US are living everyday. She is down to earth while being smart and like most smart girls the target of the popular girls in school. She gets whisked away into the fantasy life of superstar Kari Kingsley to be her double since Kari does n More...

I love books on animals so I was excited to read this book. Blind Hope did not disappoint.

It starts out with a friendship between the author owner of a youth and horse rehabilitation ranch called Crystal Peaks youth ranch and one her workers named Laurie. The author Kim Meeder talks how she and her husband started the ranch and how Laurie came to work with her. As their friendship grows through walks together Laurie reveals her life story and how she got an abused Austrailian Sheep More...

Blind Hope is a story about a woman's religious awakening to the Christian god, and the dog she rescued was the catalyst. The authors follow Laurie's thoughts, emotions, and changes as she develops a relationship with the dog, Mia, and God.

The writing style was just on the edge of purple prose with many evocative descriptions of scenes. My favourite is describing a winter scene: “The frozen filigree embellished everything with its delicate crystal creations.” Many of the scene descrip More...

There’s the most gorgeous dog on the cover of Blind Hope by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher, so how could I resist it? The book is a lovely inspirational story of a woman who rescues, and is rescued by a dog. Author Kim Meeder owns and operates Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in central Oregon, and Blind Hope is the true story of Laurie Sacher, one of the team leaders there. Events are told through conversations between Kim and Laurie, during hikes on beautiful rural trails, long rides on gloriously resc More...

I haven't purchased many books lately, but I made an exception when I saw the cover on this one. I am a big sucker for animal stories. especially ones that can bring a tear to your eyes. So naturally when this book arrive last week I could not wait to read it. It is an easy book to read in one sitting, and that is pretty much what I did.

In case you are not familiar with this book, Kim Meeder tells the story of Laurie Sacher, a broken, troubled, woman who came to work at her ranch, More...

Blind Hope is the story of a broken woman who rescues a blind dog. At first, Laurie believes her dog Mia is the one being rescued. However, she slowly realizes that her dog is actually the one doing the rescuing.

The great - I loved all the photos. Each chapter begins with a photograph of Mia and Laurie. The photographer deserves huge kudos as the pictures are absolutely stunning.

The good - In a world full of books which are labeled Christian but contain a watered down mes More...

This book had me choked up from start to finish – I dare you to read this one and NOT cry!

Blind Hope is the heartwarming story of a young woman, Laurie, who rescues a needy dog. As it turns out, “Mia” rescues Laurie right back and teaches her about life and God in some very unexpected ways. I could identify with so many of the points made in this book and was able to “get” the concepts of how Laurie’s relationship with Mia often caused her to see her relationship with G More...

Blind Hope by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher is the latest volume about the wonderful things going on at Crystal Springs Youth Ranch which brings together abused horses and at-risk children for some amazing healing. Laurie, a team leader at the ranch, adopts an abused Australian shepherd, Mia, sight unseen and at first regrets the decision. Mia's rotten teeth make every lick from her pure torture from the terrible breath. She's also underweight and dirty with thick matted fur. But Mia's sparkling More...

Since I love animals I was again destined to fall in love with this story. And since one of my dogs just happens to be an Aussie I was even more attached to Mia's story.

Not a whole lot of information was given about Mia's background, other than she was malnourished and was living under a rusted out car. But the story doesn't really need her background info as she creates such a great story without it.

Mia could easily have been put to sleep, and even though Laurie's inte More...

“Sliding to a stop, Laurie planted both of her poles and looked at me thoughtfully. ‘My sweet blind dog had helped me understand that in every sorrow, fear, and loneliness, whether I could see Him or not, God has always been with me.” pg. 102

I received this book from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group. I am under no obligation to write a positive review, just an honest one.

Blind Hope is the true story of Laurie, written from Kim's perspective.

Laurie decides to rescue an Australian Shepherd but Mia is not the dog she expected. Mia on top of having a horrible life living under a rusty car and being severely under weight, has terrible diabetes, loses and eye from blindness, and loses sight in the other eye shor More...

This book is basically about how to give up all of your ways and to trust in Jesus. The story is told through recollections from the author and her friend Laurie. Laurie adopted a dog in need and discovered that she was slowly losing her sight and had numerous medical problems. Laurie learns life lessons from her dog Mia. Kim is moved enough to want to share her story with others in the hopes that it will bring someone closer to Jesus. I thought this was a good book and I really did enjoy learni More...

Honestly, I was expecting something else when I got this book for my e-reader. I went with the assumption that this book was along the lines of my current fascination with reading about animal rescue. Instead I found a book that focused more on the woman who adopted the dog and her struggles with religuin. While a descent read, I cannot honestly say that it was one of my favorites. It felt like the author was using flowery language just for the sake of sounding pretty rather than to actually More...

The second I opened the book, the first paragraphs were dripping with the descriptive language of Kim Meeder's writing. I knew I was with a familiar friend. This story is different than Kim's past books which detail broken horses that come to her Crystal Peaks Ranch and how they broken horses heal and help help others. This story is about a friend and a dog. Together their relationship brings Laurie back to God, and Mia (the dog) finds a safe and loving owner. The book is told through the l More...

Blind Hope - An Unwanted Dog & the Woman She Rescued by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher is the book I will be reviewing. I got this book because I am a huge animal lover. This book arrived yesterday and I could not wait to read it. It is a true story about Laurie and her dog Mia. Mia was a rescue dog. She was an Australian mix dog that was around nine years old. Laurie had not seen Mia before she went to rescue her she had only heard about her through her work (this was a good thing for Mia). Once More...

While well-written, Blind Hope: An Unwanted Dog & the Woman She Rescued by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher was, well, typical. The book amounts to a “Christian Soup for the Soul” story about a woman who adopted an emaciated Australian Shepherd mix. The bits about the dog, Mia, and her relationship with owner Laurie were interesting, heartwarming, and beautiful. However, the story was broken up by written conversations between Meeder and Sacher which ruined the flow of the tale.

From My Blog...[return][return]A story of unconditional love and faith, Blind Hope by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher is about how an unwanted dog was able to change Laurie’s life. When Laurie first arrived at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch she was a broken woman, yet appeared to have it all while inside she was close to empty, imprisoned by her obsession with food and her false belief that thinner equals happy, just one of the societal beliefs that guided Laurie in the beginning. As she began to volu More...

This is a very sweet story about how a rescued dog helps a woman find her way back to God.

Laurie is a broken woman who adopts a broken dog, Mia. She soon learns that Mia is sick with diabetes, and that she's going blind. As her dog learns to trust her and follow her lead, Laurie learns a lot about how we are to trust God. When Mia is completely sightless, Laurie learns what exactly faith is. Following a Leader you cannot see, and trusting that Leader completely, is what faith is. Th More...

This book is inspirational and challenging. Kim and Laurie tell a story that had me asking “How much do we really want to sacrifice to help others?” I loved Kim’s other 2 books—Hope Rising and A Bridge Called Hope—this one had a different feel to it, because it is about Laurie, one of the volunteers at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch who became a member of the staff. The other books were about the children and horses they rescue at the ranch. Laurie, rescues a very sick, neglected dog who then helps More...

Two pages in and I was already hooked and in love with Kim, Laurie, and Mia. Not only do I have a personal connection with these special people but also as an outsider looking in they are wonderful. Although Kim Meeder is short and sweet, she gets to the point and uses simple language to get complex ideas about God across. This book warms every heart, Christian or not. Even through sad parts, she lifts the spirit and soul up and reminds us God's love is everlasting and will never leave us!

A beautiful story about unconditional love, hope, faith and healing, "Blind Hope" will tug at your heartstrings. Mia, a rescued dog, teaches her new owner, Mia, about what matters most in life.

I really did enjoy this book, but at times found the discussions about God a bit much and monotonous. I found the parallels between Mia's relationship with Laurie and Laurie's relationship with God to be very good and something that I had figured out on my own. I wanted more informati More...

Great read (true story) about the bond between a rescued dog and its rescuer -- deepened in this story because of physical limitations of the pooch. Life lessons of trust, hope, love are explored. The backdrop to this story is a horse rescue ranch. A touching story.

Thanks to Waterbrook Multnomah for my review copy of Blind Hope: An Unwanted Dog & The Womena She Rescued by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher.

This is a book that you will want to dedicate several hours reading. I couldn't put it down and when finished, counted it as one of the best moving stories I've ever read. Especially dealing with a dog and what it taught its owner. Wonderful message.

Kim Meeder is the founder of Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Bend, OR. We have had the blessing of visiting there twice. It is one of the inspirations of HopeWell Ranch, where we spend a lot of time in our summers. This book was not as much of a tearjerker, inspirational book as Kim's collection of stories about kids and horses at her ranch, but being a dog lover I appreciated the retelling of how a dog brought healing to someone's life.

Decent book. Too much "God" stuff and Jesus stuff for my overall liking. It was good that Laura adopted Mia though, and took care of her through her numerous illnesses and helped her after she went blind.

I loved the story, but the writing style bothered me. I'll probably skim it again someday to revisit the gems of wisdom included throughout; this truly isn't so much a book for dog lovers as for those on a journey to discover more about God.
