No one at Kayla’s school knows she’s the famous Oracle of Dating—the anonymous queen of dating advice, given through her own Web site. Kayla doesn’t even have a boyfriend. Two relationship disasters were enough to make her focus on everyone else’s love life. But then her advice backfires on her own best friend. And Kayla starts to seriously obsess about Jared Stewart—the very cute, very mysterious new guy in school. Suddenly, the teen queen of advice needs her own oracle of dating--and she knows More...

My initial thoughts on this novel were fast, fun and super cute! And I think that describes this novel perfectly.

I had no problem devouring this novel in it's entirety. I sat down on the couch and the next thing I new I was flipping the last few pages... (I might have even started and finished the next novel right away!) The Oracle of Dating is a very easy novel to read, with a lovable protagonist and a charming plot-line, even if it was a little predictable.

I loved the suppo More...

When I picked up the book I was slightly skeptical. How exactly did the Oracle work? Was she like come turban wearing, crystal ball staring teenager? It didn’t sound like much of a premise for a story, but I read it anyway and I'm not disappointed I did.

Most of our time is spent in school or at home. There are a few outings that we get glimpses of the subway and a little of the city but it’s not really relevant (too much) to the story that the lack of multiple environments is really More...

Let me start by saying how much I loved getting to see teenagers behave the way they are supposed to. I mean no grown up stuff. They talked the way I did when I was one. Most of the problems the characters faced were typical everyday teenage problems. Such a relief! They didn't have to go save the world or even bother about it. Sometimes contemporary YA can bring such joy.

Kayla was one hell of a central character. I can tell you that if you don't get involved in her life in about 2 pag More...

In the mood for a fun beach read? Check out THE ORACLE OF DATING. The main character, Kayla, is all about helping people with their love lives and she's pretty good at it, handing out love and dating advice to her older sister and people who visit her website (no one but her sister knows Kayla's The Oracle and she wants to keep it that way). She works hard to give good advice to those who IM, email or call her (at $5 a pop--she's hoping this hobby will get her out of a crappy job and soon), tho More...

Kayla considers herself somewhat of an expert on relationships. So what if she’s only been in two, if you could even call them that. She’s learned from her mistakes and the mistakes of others around her, and now she can tell you whether a guy likes you or not, how to get his attention, and much more—for a small fee of five dollars, of course. Though only a couple of people know, Kayla is the Oracle of Dating, somewhat of an online dating advice sensation. But when some of the Oracle’s advice bac More...

The Oracle of Dating is an adorable young adult novel! It has a set of great characters, an interesting storyline, and some really cool dating advices! It's better than I'd expected!

Kayla is an ordinary girl who has had two disastrous relationships before. She cleverly uses her knowledge about love relationships to create a website specialized to help teens in their love life. She is the oh-so-famous Oracle of Dating, and no one even knows it. She has a serious crush on fellow art cl More...

The Oracle of Dating was a fun, bubblegum YA novel. What made it unique from the dozens of novels it is shelved with is that the main character ran her own advice column. Results weren’t unbelievably explosive, but when Kayla gave bad advice to her friends or herself, she reaped the benefits of her actions. The love interest was the bad boy you kept hoping was better than his reputation, and the foreshadowing for the relationship started in the first chapter, and built in each chapter. I was More...

This was a really cute, light, and funny YA read. It had great information on teen dating all wrapped up in a cute romance. I connected with the main character quickly, but it took me a little longer to connect to the secondary characters.

The main character, Kayla, runs a website called "The Oracle of Dating". She has a close relationship with her older sister, and often gives her advice. Her sister seems to have a bad habit of picking the wrong kind of men. Af More...

I liked this book. It's not classic literature, but it made me smile and at the end of the book, I just felt good. The romance had substance - you could see why the characters were attracted to one another. There was some humor, but it was not striving to be a comedy. The characters were developed and interesting and likable. The writing was even. There were no werewolves or boys visiting girls via the bedroom window. Just a nice, steady, solid read.

Sixteen-year-old Kayla is just your average, ordinary teenager by day, but at night, she becomes a dating superhero. Kayla’s super hero name? The Oracle of Dating. And like most superheroes, Kayla’s identity is a secret. Ok, she’s not actually a superhero, but Kayla did start a secret Web site to help those needing advice on love and relationships. She has an extraordinary ability to tell the dating-challenged exactly what they need to hear, even if it’s not what they want to hear.

"I know lovesickness. I know how painful it can be. Even if your loved one is not a vampire, even if he's that boy in class--if you can't have him, it hurts. It aches."

Sage words from the Oracle of Dating! I devoured this book in a couple hours (thanks to Alice at A Severe Book Addiction for recommending it!). I wish I'd had a copy when I was actually in high school...although even now, at the worldly old age of 24, I found myself really soaking up a lot of the Oracle's wisdo More...

Full review at Amaterasu reads:

Kayla is the Oracle of Dating and she gives love advices to people who needs it, at a certain price. But what would happen when an advice to a friend goes horribly wrong? And when the Oracle got herself a little love dilemma, how will she deal with it?

It's really a joy reading a book like this. One of the reasons why I say I enjoyed is because this hits close to home. I have a friend who reminds me of The Oracle.

I have to say, I More...

Kayla is an oracle. An Oracle of Dating, to be specific. She doles out relationship advice to anyone who contacts her from her website (after paying a small fee!) and makes a pretty nice business out of it. But she must keep her Oracle identity a secret from her friends. If they knew Kayla was the Oracle, they would laugh, because Kayla's never been in a strong, long relationship. When suddenly some advice she gives out goes wrong, Kayla begins to doubt herself. To top it off, her on again/off a More...

This story got three and A HALF stars. It was definitely better then I was expecting (I've looked over it more then a couple times) and really surprised me in a few ways.

LIKES
1. Kayla was actually really funny and kind of relate-able
2. HER SISTER <3 she makes me wish I had an older sister like that
3. Her friends(:
4. The romance tips! Fabulous!

While I was reading plenty of great reviews about this book, I was more interested in the fact that, the protagonist is a relationship advice giver -who wants to be a relationship counselor. For some reason, I'm very interested to know more about what relationship advisers would do while they pursue the profession. And, written for young adults in a way that is entertaining and insightful, got me into reading this book.

Kayla has a secret. She loves her friends dearly, but she’s pretty sure that if they knew she was the Oracle of Dating, they wouldn’t understand. Especially since Kayla hasn’t exactly had an active dating life herself. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t full of good advice! Despite her lack of experience, Kayla is thoughtful, listens to people and knows how to read body language, making her an expert in what people are really thinking but not saying. But when she gives some bad advice to a friend, More...

Well this book is absolutely adorable. A teen dating guru--who is believable--who helps people through her Web site/IMs/phone calls? Where was Kayla when I was in high school?! The author sets the heroine up nicely as a sort of therapist in training with interest in/access to all kinds of relationship books, making her believable as a wise-for-her-years advice source who screws up once in a while but mostly gets it dead on. The heroine's own stance on dating--not interested --takes a turn for th More...

The Oracle of Dating is one of the sweetest, cutest and most fun books I have read so far this summer. I adore this book and literally smiled my way through the entire book.

An adorable read. It took me back to the best moments of high school, made me feel the romance and just took me out of life for awhile.

Kayla is a typical teenage girl, in fact her and her group reminds me more of my crowd in high school - the ones in the middle, neither popular or unpopular, friends with everyone. So that made this a winner in the first place. It made it really easy to relate with her and her friends. I think all girls will find it easy no matter what their popul More...

The Oracle of Dating is such a cute girlie book. Kayla is a teen with a website called The Oracle of Dating where she anonymously gives out dating advice. The thing is, she hasn’t had much dating experience herself and one time in particular her advice is off the mark. She tries her best though, and there are lots of laughs.

I just love every little thing about Kayla. She is close with her mother and sister, she is a good friend, she means well, and she has a nice sense of humor. Kayl More...

This was a lighthearted read, and the story was overall enjoyable. I found that Kayla had very sage advice, and I think this book would be a good one for teens (and certainly adults) to read. All of the relationship advice seemed to be spot on. I did find that the book seemed to be too short, and that it wasn't as in depth as I hoped it would be. It had a lot of good advice, but it just seemed like the story was lacking in depth. That is not to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did, I just wanted More...

Very fun read. For a Young Adult book, it’s not too mushy or wrapped up in hormones and angst. The story is well written and the main characters are endearing. The pace is great, not too fast that there are gaps, and not too slow that the reader feels like a plow horse. The interconnectedness of technology with today’s youth is portrayed well, as are the (mostly) harmless antics of teens dating in secret or using fake id’s.

Kayla is very mature for her age and has sworn off dating (af More...

What a fun book! Can not imagine how fascinating it was read, from beginning to end.

I really liked the story, not a book like those that abound now, there is plenty. The plot is well thought out, have a script and a perfect pace. It is not a superficial book is full of true stories, palpable, that could be easily identified with any teenager today (and not so young too.)

Great teen novel! This is a very light read, there is no drama or anything. A perfect lazy day kind of book. It reminded me a lot of how it felt to be a teenager. The Oracle of Dating is such an easy, quick read. Finished it the same day on only 4 hours sleep which really attests to it's likeability. Kayla's voice is real without trying too hard, it was like she was narrating the story to me directly. I even felt the pain of when she says Jared looks like he shaved over a zit - urgh!
