I'm currently reading around in this book of Cuban's essays for bedtime reading and refreshers. He is one of the few researchers out there who have really looked at the path of reform policy and how it affects (or fails to affect) the classroom level. He does his best, in the absence of a lot of available data, to reach into the "black box" of classroom teaching and tell us what is going on there historically.
