This very well might have been the stupidest book I've ever read. (And yes, I know it's a sequel.) Jordan, the main character, who is supposedly an intelligence officer, acts instead like a mentally unstable 14-year-old stalker. She quits her career with the foreign service in order to run off and find Jared, her college boyfriend, after finding out that he had faked his own death and disappeared 10 years ago. Even though they only dated for about 3 months in college, Crazy Lady has been pining More...

Quite a 'nice' read....probably not the comment expected after the blazing credits on the book, 'an edge-of-the -seat ending...an antidote to James Bond'...Yes, it is a spy novel...the author's penchant to tell the story in back-to-front snippets is confusing and makes reading abit of a chore. Yes, it picks up about 1/2 way thru when some of the snippets start to fall into place...Female spy called, Jordan Weiss...incredibly incredulous plot...Her relentless devotion to a deceased former boyfrie More...

I just recently finished reading “A Hidden Affair” by Pam Jenoff and, all in all, it’s a great book. In fact, when I finished reading it I turned around and read it again.
The premise of “A Hidden Affair” is this: A decade ago Jordan Weiss’s life was irrevocably shattered when her college boyfriend, and love of her life, drowned in the River Cam. After graduating from college; Jordan attempted to put the pieces of her life back together and accepted a job with the State Department.

Jenoff writes in the afterward of this book that the story started in “Almost Home” was to have ended with that first book. Later, she felt the rest of the story needed to be told. Hence, “A Hidden Affair.” She puts a little romance, a little mystery, a few secrets and surprises along the way.

Jordan Weiss' world fell apart when Jared, her college boyfriend, drowns in the River Cam. Now, ten years later, Jordan is an intelligant officer for the U.S. State Department, and recently asked to be moved to the embassy in London. There, she can help take care of her ailing friend, but Jared's best friend Chris begins questioning Jared's death and soon Jordan receives new information that Jared has faked his death. "A Hidden Affair" describes how strong a woman's love can be for the man who promised to marry her and how enduring that love can last.
Jordan Weiss is on a mission. She's resigned her position in the Intelligence Dept. and is searching for her old boyfriend, Jared Short, who she thought was dead, in Monaco.
She has an old address and when she arrives there she sees a young woman, later identified as Nicole Short, entering the building. She asks Nicole about Jared but she is evasive, then, when Jo More...

A Hidden Affair' is a follow-on novel, continuing the story that began in 'Almost Home'. I have not read the previous novel but found it fairly easy to pick up the back story of Jordan Weiss, although I do suspect that reading 'Almost Home' first would give the reader a better understanding of the character.

A sequel to Almost Home, A Hidden Affair has Jordan off in search of her college boyfriend, Jared, who she thought was dead because of his dissertation on the escape of Nazi war criminals at the end of World War II.
The Nazis make a reappearance in A Hidden Affair, (well, sort of, as this novel takes place in the present) this time connected to a wine counterfeiting scheme involving a 1943 vintage from a vineyard owned by Jews. The real wine was hidden by the Resistance, and a woman connected to More...

Having read, and enjoyed The Officer’s Lover, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read and review this sequel, A Hidden Affair.
Jordan Weiss has left her role as a State Department investigating officer in order to search for clues into the whereabouts of her missing boyfriend, Jared. For ten years, Jordan has assumed that Jared is dead, but now has information that suggests that he is alive. Her search for her missing ex-lover takes Jordan on a hazardous journey across Europe, and is More...

This was the first book I had read by Pan Jenoff and I wasn't sure what to expect. A Hidden Affair is the sequel to Almost Home, I only realised this when I was reading the Acknowledgements at the end of the book - I never felt like I was missing out on any background information. The book does jump straight into the plot with the action starting within the first few pages, I loved this as it meant I got swept straight up with the book.

I was very much look looking forward to this book after thoroughly enjoying 'The Officers Lover', however I was saddened by the disappointment I felt.
Not only was there no recap to the previous story (which I read over 2 years ago) I couldn't help but feel the story descended into a ridiculous situation. As the plot unfolded, I was hoping it wasn't really going the way it seemed. On finishing the book I was left unsatisfied and saddened that the brilliant story of the first book was not conclud More...

Another Pam Jenoff book so soon? You betcha. After reading Almost Home I just had to pick up the follow up book, A Hidden Affair, as soon as possible. Part of my reading challenge for this summer is to read a book in a day, and that is exactly what I did yesterday after coming home from the library!

In my review of Almost Home, I said I wanted closure and I got it here. This book picks up exactly where the other finished off. Jordan has discovered the truth about Jared and that he is actually alive. She is on her way to the coast of France to his last known location. She has no idea what she is going to find or even if she will actually find Jared.
While Almost Home was about Jordan and her story, Hidden Affair was actually about Aaron who is a private investigator and Nicole who is linked t More...

Ten years ago, intelligence officer Jordan Weiss’s life was turned upside town when her college boyfriend Jared drowned. But in a shocking discovery, Jordan realises that she has been lied to and betrayed by those closest to her. Reeling from the knowledge that Jared faked his own death, she sets out from London to find him.
Jordan races all over Europe trying to find out why her boyfriend has let her believe all these years that he’s dead, and we get a lot of emotional turmoil from her as she in More...

"Hidden Affair" is the sequel to Jenoff's "Almost Home." While I enjoyed "Hidden Affair" the book started off rather slow and it took some time to engage me in the plot. "Hidden Affair" starts where "Almost Home" ended with Jordan Weiss having left the State Department to search for a boyfriend, who up until just a week before, she had thought was dead. Her journey takes her to Monaco, then Austria, down the coast of Italy and to Greece in search of what seems more like a ghost, if anything.

It rounded off The Officer's Lover nicely. It wasn't quite so brutal, though had its fair share of blood and death! The main character was dealing with issues in her own life as well as chasing a rainbow and it was all very satisfactory in the end. Its a tad shorter than the previous book, it seems the author was working to a bit of a schedule, but its none the worse for that. I have not read her other books, Kommandant's Girl and Diplomat's wife, but I probably will soon!

This was a good conclusion to the story Jenoff started in Almost Home. Jordan's love for Jared was somewhat annoying - but I found it sort of annoying in the first book. So he's alive, ok, great. But 10 years have passed. Does she really think he's the SAME guy? I understand wanting closure, but it's annoying how she is so idealistic about it. But I suppose in the same situation, who wouldn't be...
All in all, not quite as good as the first, but a satisfying ending.

Suggestions for reading this book:
a. Read Almost Home first. This one will likely not make sense if you don't.
b. Stick with it past the first few chapters. I was ready to throw in the towel because nothing of interest was happening, but the action does pick up.
It's not my favorite of Pam Jenoff's novels, but it was an entertaining read and after the first few chapters a very interesting one as well.

It would have been helpful if the book jacket indicated that this was a sequel.
The plot had a lot of holes in it, but most disappointing was that the main character simply was not convincing. She seemed entirely too naive and emotionally needy to be a successful intelligence officer.
I wanted to like this, and while it wasn't awful, I was looking for something more than lukewarm diversion.

Well, I didn't realize this was a sequel to Almost Home (which I have not read) until I was about half way through it. At that point I had too much invested in it to quit. You don't have to read Almost Home first to get the story, but I'm sure this book would have been better had I read the first one. I really loved the two other books I've read by this author. This one was somewhat of a let-down comparatively.

I wasn't so impressed with this book. I didn't realize that it was a sequel, but I found the narration somewhat boring. I also had a hard time with the name Jared. I hate the JARED commercials, but that was my problem, not the book's. I thought about not finishing the book, but I ended up reading it to the end. It was just OK.

Didn't realize this was a sequel until 2/3 of the way through. I was getting some idea that something had gone on before since there was hints but no real details. Finally figured out that most of the good stuff had played out in the first book. This was ok. Picked it off the shelf at the library so no harm ($) done :)

I have recently become a fan of Jenoff's, having read all the books she's written thus far. This one disappointed a bit. The plot seemed implausible and the action jumped around to too many cities and countries to suit me. I have no quarrel with the ending, just didn't care for the journey this time around.

Not sure if this was second in a series, as the dialog kept referring to events that happened years before, and they could easily have been another book entirely. Made it a bit confusing now and then, but with the country hopping ex-State Department agent searching for the old flame she thought was dead and the hunky Mossad agent searching for his cousin, who happens to be married to the old flame, there was enough action (not to mention sexual tension) to keep me turning the pages.

This is the sequel to Almost Home. Loved both books. I had a hard time putting them down! I got Almost Home at Border's on the clearance rack for $3.99 and then couldn't stop reading sequel and actually bought hard back-A Hidden Affair for $23 to continue the story!

I like this book. My only problem is it is an adult book. There is an abortion theme and a scene that is a little too steamy. I do like the War World II angle. I have never heard about the wine industry during the war. An interesting book but I don't recommend it.

I liked the feel of the first book and the cliffhanger is so open that I wanted to keep going with this book. While I enjoyed it, I almost wish that I had stopped after the first. It's not that I didn't like the resolution, I just found it a bit mixed up and waffling at the end.

I was glad to know more of Jordan's story. I loved the first book and was horrified when it ended with her off to find the boyfriend she had believed dead. I wanted to know more! It didn't end how I expected, but it was a satisfying end.

This book involves spies and espionage with British, American & Israeli personnel. I do have a problem with the woman with 10 years experience in the field who goes off la-la-la with a stranger who tried to strangle her.

This book is the sequel to Almost Home. I don't think it's as good as the first book, but you have to read it to find out how it ends. It seems like it gets a little far fetched, but it's still good.
