This review is technically for the entire series as oppose to this last book.
There was a lot of problems I had with this entire series.
The never ending world-saving that goes on. One thing after another after another. The constant dying that the main character goes through. Like seriously how many times can you die and yet stay human. I think my favorite was when she was a Djinn. But too bad she died while being an immortal being only to come back alive as a human. And then from there it was pr...more

Of course once I started I couldn't stop. Just finished the book and it was a beautiful ending to a great series. Aside from the Ma'at dead plot, everything was wrapped up so freaking perfectly. Sometimes when a series ends I'm a little disappointed with the way it's wrapped up, but this one was extremely satisfying.
So many powerful and emotional things happen in this book. I wasn't sure how Rachel Caine could fix everything that she had done in the previous books, but she did. I am so, so glad...more

Much as Urban Fantasy is by far my favorite genre, a depressing trend has emerged lately: the author, for whatever reason, keeps the series going long after they should have called it quits. I'm pleased to say that that's not really the case with this series, and I thought that Rachel Caine really ended this on a high note.

‘Total Eclipse’ is the ninth and last book, in Rachel Caine’s ‘Weather Warden’ series.
The ‘Weather Warden’ books are set in our world, but not as we know it. There is a covert organization of humans, called Weather Wardens, with special talents for commanding the elements: earth, fire, wind and water. They use these powers to control Mother Nature – from tornadoes to tidal waves. The Wardens work tirelessly and fearlessly to prevent and handle natural disasters, and save humanity from the worst...more

This is another blockbuster, and unfortunately also the last, installment in the Weather Wardens series. Jo and David, along with Cher and Kevin, are racing against time to make Mother Earth go back to sleep and try to save everything on Earth. Nothing is going according to plan and Jo must give more of herself than she ever has. But will it be enough and will it be in time to save everything Jo cares about...including David?

Holy Moses On A Pogo Stick!!! That was by far the most exciting book of the series. Miss Caine most certainly out did herself with this one. I could not have thought of a better ending to such a thrilling series. This book had it all, Suspence, Love, Heartache, Passion, Wisdom, Bravery, Death and Birth. I loved this book, Joannes fight felt like my fight and I just held my breath until I nearly past out from lack of oxegen. This is the best series to read and is my second favourtie series ever :...more
Total Eclipse is the last book in author Rachel Caine's pulse-pounding Weather Warden series. Though I'm sad to see Joanne Baldwin's story end, it came to a thrilling conclusion in Total Eclipse that's perfectly satisfying for Warden fans and paranormal romance fans.
Having settled down (or, trying to) with husband and Djinn David, Joanne thinks (well, hopes) that life as a Weather Warden is over. But when David is poisoned by a substance that slow seeps the life out of him. Joanne must embrace h...more

Finally and with much relief – and end to Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin's cliffhanger escapades in search of happiness with her beloved David, leader of the New Djinn, though, of course, the world almost has to end before she finally gets her man and a bit of peace to enjoy him. Frankly this series lost its charm for me after book five or six, but Rachel Caine's cliffhangers always tempted me to just one more and just one more. This ties up all the loose ends and they save the world – again.

Mother Nature's awake and she's taken control of the Djinn. She's beyond angry and is pulling no punches and she's on a campaign to wipe the plague of humanity from the face of the Earth. The only ones standing in the way of the annihilation are Joanne and David - both sans their powers - and an rapidly dwindling number of Weather Wardens trying desperately - but with little success - to use their magical control over earth, air, fire and water to mitigate a plethora of natural disasters. For fans of Joanne and David, Total Eclipse is the last and final installment in the epic, thrilling, and adventurous Weather Warden series penned by the talented Rachel Caine.
Joanne Baldwin Prince is facing the awakening of Mother Earth and her frightening fury (think the Apocalypse). Now that she's waking up, Joanne, David & co. have to find a way to save the world (as cliche as it sounds) from the disasters sweeping the planet that are effectively turning humans to savage and selfish cre...more

'That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes ... It's the end of the world as we know it'
They might as well have been talking about this, the final book in Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series.
Again, picking up directly from the end of the last book, this has Joanne and David still on board the liner sailing home from their showdown with 'bad Bob', and with the 2 lead characters stripped of their powers. Not long before making lan...more

Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series comes to an end with Total Eclipse and it was a very fast read. Mostly because I couldn't put it down yesterday and finished up the last few pages this morning. I'm sad to see the series go, but the characters deserve some rest after all the chaos they've gone through for the past 8 books.
But first they have to endure the chaos of book 9 before they can rest of course! And that's just where Total Eclipse starts. The Wardens are still on the cruise ship after...more

“Excuse me,” Lewis said, a little too loudly. “Somebody want to clue me in?”
David was the one to say it, which was good; because I wasn’t sure I had it in me. “It’s the Mother,” he said. “It was her scream, echoing through the Djinn. She’s been hurt, and she’s angry. She gathered the Djinn to her. They’re in her power now.”
Spoiler Alert! In Cape Storm, David and Joanne finally concluded their wedding vows which had been interrupted by Bad Bob at the end of Gale Force. Joanne became infused with...more

This book wraps up the Weather Wardens series, although the Outcast series continues in the same universe with different main characters.
We pick up where we left off last book on the cruise ship post-battle. Then we segue into the familiar road trip with killer car that Caine does so enjoyably- back to where the series began. There is a problem with lost magic powers that looks like it will be a big problem, but it ends up resolved rather anti-climactically. Joanne is her usual sassy self, the s...more

After a long period of being too stressed even to read, this series was the perfect antidote, and it got me back on track, so thank you Rachel!
This is the Mills & Boon of the fantasy world, easy reading with very mild sexual references, quite a lot of slushy love stuff and far too much emphasis on fashion. Having said all that, the heroine loves fast super-cars as much as her Manolo's (designer shoes) and whilst she is certainly described as attractive, beauty is NOT her thing, model status...more

An epic conclusion to the series. After the slight disappointments of the previous novel, I was not sure my enthusiasm could be clawed back in its entirity for this one.
I was wrong.
I believe it is the cataclysmatic, apolcalyptic nature of this book that truly appealed to me. Caine is not afraid to tear apart the world as we know it.
However, I can't help but think there is another story here - the addition of Cassiel to this plot may have confused me - had I not realised (several books ago) that...more

Total Eclipse provides a fitting conclusion to the Weather Warden series. The story itself is rich, and fraught with sufficient peril to actually merit some concern from characters have proven to be quite good at surviving the unsurvivable. The conclusion to this story (and the arc that runs through the hole series) is also well handled, with sufficient support woven in from the very first books to give it the feeling of a culmination, rather than an ass-pull. The epilogue also does a nice job o...more
The last couple of books got a little repetitive in some ways as the author was trying to build up certain story lines, but it was definitely a fun series. I like that she had a plan and played it out, then ended it, not like some authors who try to drag a series out forever or who don't seem to have any idea book to book what the characters are going to do next. The first five books were better than the last four, but overall it was full of great characters and I enjoyed it. It was fun to find...more
It was time to put this series to rest. The last couple of books had become repetitive and I was ready to let it go and not even read this one until I found out it was the final book in the series. Over time I got tired of the heroine and I started equating her reactions and descriptions of David with the Twilight freaks and how Bella acted with Edward. Tiresome. Actually, I would've preferred to have seen all of this episode from just about anyone's point of view except her's. I won't spoil the...more
This was probably one of my favorites of all the Warden books, an excellent ending. It had everything that one enjoys. The name of her kid though was kind of enormous but I get the naming after important people, etc. still a big ass name.
These books were a huge ease during the last semester, the writing isn’t the most intense thing but it’s not supposed to be. It’s just a good addictive easy to read series, it’s entertainment. Some were terrible but I wouldn’t have made it this far if overall I...more

This is the last book in the nine book Weather Warden series. Some humans have magic powers and control of the Dijinn, which they use to save the human race from weather related disasters. In this book, former Weather Warden Joanne has lost her powers as has her Djinn lover David. Meanwhile the Earth is waking up and has seemingly decided to kill off humanity to save the other species. And it has seized control of the Djinn to do so. So Joanne and David need their powers back. But if David becom...more
I had been an avid fan of this series since I picked up the first book. However this book ended that love affair for me. What a crappy way to end the series. So what? Her best friend becomes and immortal Djinn, her lover/husband stays an immortal Djinn and she's just back to old human Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin? What kind of happy ever after is that? So now they'll live together for fifty or so years while Joanne gets older and dies, and then David gets to watch their son grow old and die, an...more
This series is purely awesome. The it constantly builds up and then falls before rising higher is kind of addictive ;P. I think the ending where lewis in concerned was kind of expected since the similarities between jonathan and lewis were pointed out every so often.
But i wasn't expecting Joanne's ending to be the way it is and even though part of me wished that it could have gone a different way. You kind of know that the way it ended was the only way to do justice to the series.

Technically there was nothing really wrong with TOTAL ECLIPSE, the latest installment of Joanne/David/Lewis. True to form Rachel Caine gives us high-speed chases, upheaving earth and crazy, take-your-breath-away situations.
I actually felt like I was reading the first several books over again because, at this point, there's really not much more that can happen to Joanne that hasn't already happened to her.
The ending of the book redeemed the book for me, however- and I don't want to spoil it but...more

The series ended up pretty much the way I predicted so I'm feeling more generous to this installment. Joanne is still a disaster magnet and watching her powerless was a nice diversion. We get to see a lot of the mother nature is waking up apocalypse and things get a whole lot worse than they've ever been before. I think the ending was pretty easy to coming and there weren't as many I'm making the rules up as I go along moments so it all balanced out. I'm just glad I survived all the wtf moments...more
