I loved this book! I'm not into YA books, but I loved this one. Maybe it was because even though it was a YA book, I didn't remember it was about a girl of 17 until she said she was that age. The heroine in this book doesn't behave like a teen, and Dimitri for sure isn't. I can't wait to read more about them.

What a great first book to a series - I really enjoyed this, I couldn't put it down it was so good. I was expecting something a little more 'young' adult (along the lines of the House of Night series) but instead the characters are all quite mature. The book itself is written with more of a mature tone than other YA books I have read, and I much prefer this style of writing. I think it helped that one of the characters was twenty-four years old.

I was first introduced to this series when a young woman saw me hopelessly scouring the Barnes & Noble Teen section, desperate to satisfy my vampire fix, and recommended the series to me. Best. Vampire. Saga. EVER. Just that. I dare anyone come and tell me otherwise. It is funny, witty, the plots are amazing, and the characters are great (well.... maybe Lissa is not great, but hey, she is just the one flaw). If you like vampire books, you must read it. If you hate vampire books, you must read it. What the hell, whether you like or dislike books in general, this book is a MUST HAVE. Where I come from, there are these type of girls who would literally throw themselves out at any white boy. I'm not sure why, but it seems that they have this idea that Caucasian = hotness. Boys, being boys, well ... they snatch up every opportunity. What really bugs me though, is not only the immense cheapness of these girls, but the extent to which they will go out there and hunt these western boys. I didnt LOVE this book... but it was pretty good. The authour tended to waffle on a little bit, so it felt like the story was shorter than it actually looked. But otherwise I did like the story. I adored the kickass female heroine and I think I want to marry Dimitri.
Overall it was a 3.5 out of 5 rather than a four, but since it doesnt give ".5" of a star on goodreads, I may as well give it the benefit of the doubt. Four stars it is!

Vampire Academy sucked me right back into the vampire world. I was a bit of a vampire addict a few years ago, but with all the Hollywood hype and television shows, vampires seemed to be everywhere. First, I have some mentions to make:
Maybe I'm wrong (as I've never paid too much attention to the horror mythical creatures in my culture) but as far as I can remember I've thought that 'moroi' were similar to what you call 'zombies' (without a virus making them living-dead, but nevertheless similar in the appearance and the need to kill human beings), and 'strigoi' were some sort of ghosts, the harming kind (if you've read 'Anna dressed in Blood' you'll have a pretty good idea...more

Well for crying in a bucket, THIS, is a good series.
It was only about 6 months ago that I became a frequent reader.

I’m not just joking around when I say that this book—and the series it belongs to—is super famous. No, not even famous, it is PHAMOUS! Seriously, everyone has read this series. This book is very...sensual, if that is the right word. Which is normal and not necessarily means freaky. To be honest, I think most people are attracted to 'underworld' stories for its sensuality (CMIIW). The animal instinct these creatures possessed is both scary and sexy at the same time. Hell, even bloodsucking scene is sexy (damn this dirty mind of mine!) Throw in the rage of puberty, and you have one hell of a book...

I think it's definitely better than twilight, especially because the lead character here, Rose Hathaway, is such a stronger character than the i-fall-apart-when-my-vampire-boyfriend-abandons-me Bella. Ok this was a really good book except for one major thing.... the ending. I was disappointed by that ending that I really wanted to scream.
I felt it was way too rushed with the whole Victor Natalie thing tied up in a bow. I don't want to spoil things so I won't say anymore.

i loved this book.
i finally decided to read it after sitting on my shelf for about a year. lots of people told me to read it and sed it was amazing, so i finally took there advice and gave it a go and i have to say i was not disappointed. at the beginning i was like, it's okay but i dnt see what all of the fuss is about but then after a couple of chapters i started to really enjoy it and it has become one of my favourite series.

His fingertip gently wiped away a tear that had escaped down my cheek. "That's part of it," he said. "But also... well, you and I will both be Lissa's gaurdians someday. I need to protect her at all cost. If a pack of Strogoi come, I need to throw my body between them and her."
I know that. Of course that's what you have to do." The black sparkles were dancing in front of my eyes again. I was fading out.
