I loved this book for the over-the-top characters and the schemes they got into throughout the book. This was almost like a group of connected short stories, with characters taking turns obsessing over various goals. I think a result of this was the story moving a bit slowly at times, but I found myself wanting to keep getting to the next chapter. Each section had its own value, making the whole read an enjoyable experience. Being familiar with the area also helps, but I imagine many of those ...more
