My first impression when I first picked up this book was: Is this an inspirational story about a mysterious person doing random acts of kindness?

So I snuggled into bed and turned to the first page and read.

All at once, I was whisked into a boy's world where he struggled with previous life's choices and made the commitment to walk brighter pathways. Suddenly, he is faced with many trials that could possibly lead him into relapses while others believe he has lost his way. It wasn't until I was fiv

An Angel On Main Street by Kathi Oram Peterson

I have so enjoyed reading Christmas books this past few weeks and this little charmer hits a home run. An Angel On Main Street is about young Micah Connors, who wants to do everything he can to save his younger sister, Annie, who is very ill with a life threatening illness. With he, Annie and his mom just moved to a new town after his dad had died in the Korean War, he is seeing someone mysteriously putting up a large Nativity set in the middle of to

Covenant has a precious and poignant Christmas release reminiscent of two timeless stories that each became classic must-watch holiday movies. "An Angel on Main Street" oozes with the nostalgic childhood innocence beloved in "A Christmas Story," while also capturing the moral struggles of the brilliantly tender film, "It’s A Wonderful Life."

Tenderly written by Kathi Oram Peterson, (The Forgotten Warrior), "An Angel on Main Street" takes the reader back to small-town Idaho during Christmas week 1

All Micah wants to do is take care of his mother and his sister, but he seems to attract trouble, even as he tries to avoid it, no matter how hard he tries. He misses his father, wishes his mother didn't have to work so hard for so little, and is afraid his sister Annie will die from the side-effects of rheumatic fever. Annie loves looking out the window and watching the mysterious nativity take shape in town. In her simple faith, she believes that when the baby Jesus arrives in the manger she c ...more

An Angel on Main Street is such a sweet story. It is only under 100 pages long and I was intrigued with the story from start to finish. A perfect story to read during the Christmas season. I look for more by Kathi Oram Peterson.
5 stars.

This was a sweet heartwarming little story. It would be especially good to read around Christmastime. I liked how the story ended, but throughout the book I was upset by some of the bad things that were happening. It was hard to read about how poor the family was and how sick the little girl was. I know that there are real situations like that, though, so it's good to remember that there are people in really great need and we need to do all we can to help them if we are able.

So, this wants to be a heart-warming, tear-jerking story. I know it will be for some, but not for me. I might have to embark on a study of literature and other art forms to discover what exactly it is that allows the medium to touch me, if it is even possible to make such a discovery. All I know is, this did not. It is a little more on the sentimental side, a little sappy, trying a little too hard for the emotional connection. Mercifully, it is very short at 99 pages.

This is a great Chrsitmas story. I gradually came to identify with the central character Micah Connors. About halfway through the book I was feeling frustrated with him. Why was he being so stubborn and making so many wrong choices when his musings made it clear that he really wanted to do what was right? It reminded me of myself. I can also be stubborn. I'm interested in trying another book by this author.

I enjoyed reading this book and found myself thinking about it at times. I guess I appreciated the goodness but guess that I was a little skeptical about how the ending turned out with his father's spirit appearing and the little "miracles". They didn't seem as plausible to me as the rest of the story.
