I thought the first book was okay since my library didnt have the second book I just went on to the third & I was very very disappointed. See, when I read the first book I was a high school freshman & now I'm a junior in college & this book just seemed so dreadfully disappointing.

Here it’s telling at Raven Madison’s town Amityville (Dullsville) is being taken over by a group of vampires named the Maxwells, plus her vampire boyfriend Alexander Sterling. Each character has a dark side and light side. But, which will they pick? The path of good or evil? Would the plot change? Or would it be the same? Would the story change to evil or stay on the side of good? Would the point of view change? What would happen?
Each character has a side to his/her story. On how they act, on how they think. For each character the author gives fantastic detail. Their hair, eyes, clothes, down to the little detail. But, overall none of them are the same. Raven is loving and caring, but is still Goth on the outside on in. Alexander is a lovely artist and great taste in music. Jagger is the guy you wouldn’t want to get on his bad side, but still loves his sister and brother. Luna is the girly goth and can’t stay away for a guy she likes…a lot! Each character is either round or flat…by that it means that Raven is round; she changes throughout the story. Unlike Jagger, Luna, and Alexander they stay the same. All the way through the series.
The plot of this story is on that Raven finds out that Jagger and Luna want to get back at Alexander. That he left Luna and never to turn her into a vampire. Mad and up-set Luna gets back at him and Raven of taking Trevor, to turn him into a vampire. Afraid of what may happen if Trevor did become a vampire; Raven and Alexander are out looking for the twin sibling’s coffins. With little luck Raven and Alexander try to seek out on the twin siblings and Trevor. Finally, Alexander and Raven find the coffins, in Billy-boy’s nerd mate’s tree house. Scarring the two vampires into hiding again, Raven is worry about what if Trevor is a vampire?! A party was being held at the graveyard and Alexander and Raven can see that this isn’t going to be good. Trevor is still with Luna and something will happen. What is Raven going to do?
The style of the story is a one character point of view. This means that one character throughout the WHOLE series. Raven Madison is the girl who is giving her thoughts and feeling without the books. Alexander and the other characters say what they feel. Raven can’t read minds! XD But she is different from the other girls that Alexander has met. She gives us what her room looks like to what she is wearing. She gives each character a way they act and talk, but also how they do in school or after school hours.
Seeing that the characters, plot, and style are each part of the story, but can change the little things that may be changed or added to the story. Choose a side and stay forever. Raven Madison Goth, caring, different, and most wanted to vampires…but one is hers forever…and only one…

Read.. Currently on break from the series. I'm on maybe book 6? The first 4books are tolerable. A LOT stupid but there's a little story behind the silliness. Book 5 I remember the story vaguely and it was ok up until the end where my poor mind just couldn't cope with the silliness that I had to set the whole series aside. I finally came to the conclusion these books are the (very) rated G version of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Complete with a mystery, odd ball girl with spunk who doesn’t fit in and a hunk of a beau.

Whilst in America I bought the 3-in-1 book (1-3). So I thought i'd buy it for the plane home to the UK. C’est une petite histoire mignonne, qui se déroule assez vite, en quelques jours en général. Mais ça me suffit bien, je passe quand même un bon moment en lisant, donc c’est ce qui importe.
Bon, cette critique ne va pas forcément être très longue parce que je ne suis pas inspirée et que je risque aussi de me répéter par rapport aux deux volumes précédents. Par ailleurs, les livres sont tellement courts et rapide à lire, que du coup, il est difficile de blablater dessus trois heures, surtout si c’est pour dire au final que j’ai beaucoup apprécié ma lecture, et que ce tome-là est aussi bon que les précédents. (Je suis sûre que vous ne m’en tiendrez pas rigueur, des critiques plus courtes, doivent faire du bien à vos yeux, non ? ^^).
Je vais tout de même raconter un petit peu l’histoire. Cette fois-ci, Raven est confronté à deux vampires : Jagger et sa jumelle : Luna qui veut se lier pour l’éternité à Trevor (on le voit dans le tome 2 et ça se confirme ici). Ainsi Raven et Alexander vont tout faire pour mettre la main dessus et les faire fuir la ville, où il commence à avoir trop de vampires (d’où le titre de vampireville). Raven se rapproche donc de Trevor pour le mettre en garde contre Luna, mais ne l’écoute pas, continuant de la mépriser en l’appelant « monstresse » etc. Raven poursuit également son idylle avec son amoureux de vampires, regrettant de ne pas être elle-même une vampire pour pouvoir vivre à ses côtés éternellement.
L’histoire est simple mais efficace je trouve. On se doute plus ou moins rapidement ce qui va se passer, mais on se laisse quand même prendre au jeu parce que c’est agréable de lire une histoire pareille. C’est bien écrit, c’est fluide, Raven en narratrice est vraiment extra. Elle a du répondant et en même temps, sous ses airs de filles gothiques et fortes, on a une jeune fille fleur bleue, même si c’est d’un autre genre parfois. Elle reste tout de même une adolescente qui vit une histoire d’amour et de vampires en même temps (tout ce qu’elle rêve depuis longtemps !). Donc elle nage dans un parfait bonheur. Tous les stratagèmes sont bons pour faire ouvrir les yeux à Trevor et a persuadé Jagger et Luna de partir, mais elle veut elle aussi connaître l’amour et pense l’avoir trouvé en Trevor. La fin nous entraîne sur une nouvelle intrigue. Vu que la principale du tome est vite achevée, l’auteur nous la relance avec d’autres personnages ou éléments qui permettent de titiller notre intérêt et de nous donner envie de nous replonger dans cette atmosphère gothique en compagnie de Raven et son amoureux de vampire Alexander.
En bref, une histoire mignonne, dans le même genre que les 2 premiers volumes. Si vous les avez appréciés, vous ne pourrez qu’aimer celui-là. Moi en tout cas, j’aime beaucoup et je veux bien lire la suite !(less)

Освен това май започва да ми харесва начина, по който успява напълно да разплете създалата се интрига от началото до края на книгата и буквално за последните няколко реда да те въведе в проблема, който ще засегне следващата книга и то без да загуби дори малко от онова, което всъщност ме кара да искам да разбера, какво ще стане после. Мога само да се надявам, че съм права и това няма да не се промени и при следващите части.

I decided to review all eight of these books together, as I pretty much read them all back to back and I don't think I would be able to go back and review them all individually.

Firstly, this is a series that I had known about for a while, but wasn't really too sure what the books were about. Going from the titles it's obvious that they are about vampires, but apart from that I hadn't really looked into them too much. One day in December, bored I decided to give the first book a go and see how I liked it.

All eight books are very short, not as short as a novella. But they are short, I'm pretty sure I averaged about 2 of these books a day while I was reading them. Although they are short they are enjoyable.
I would say they are aimed at a much younger audience than typical YA books. The writing in them is simple and straightforward making them that much easier to glide through one book to the next in the series, to me they all seemed to tie together which makes writing individual reviews on them too hard.

The main character Raven is likeable and funny. Although she does come across very young and immature for her age. I am used to reading YA novels where the female main character is usually much wiser and mature for her age. This is another reason why I feel these books are marketed to the tween market.

The plot itself is captivating and is full of twists and turns. There are quite a few laugh out loud moments as well which keeps the tone of the book rather light hearted. I did enjoy the different aspects of all the books, and the introducing of the new vampires to the town. I really liked the idea of the covenant ceremony to bond vampires for life, that was something I haven't really seen much of in other vampire books.

There isn't really anything negative to say about these books at all, they are fun, light and easy to read. I'm glad I read them all back to back as I don't think I would go back to them if I had only read one or two, they don't really have that captivating element some YA series's do, although they are enjoyable.

To me they were a nice break from some my heaver and thicker books that I need to get through, which was just what I needed at the time I read them. I am looking forward to the release of book 9 in the series, which I think is the last one.(less)

I'm not entirely sure whether to take these novels seriously or just to simply enjoy them for the very little content I seem to find in them. I am a sucker (excuse the tasteless pun) for romance novels, particularly the those of the epic Pride and Prejudice variety, however I am also a lover of the supernatural so I pretty much seek something of the latter when reading. Vampireville was quite a bit better than the previous book of this series, Coffin Club. I also need to be careful, while I’m used to reading young adult books geared towards the 16-18 range, I’m pretty sure this series is more for the 12-14 year old crowd, which has probably been my problem all along.

This is where this series get better. Not only Raven pretends to be a vampire bonded to Alexander for eternity she is now acting as Nancy Drew while looking for the hidden lair of the nefarious Maxwell twins. Arch-enemy Trevor got entangled in this vampire revenge, Luna- vampire teen who got stood up by the altar was planning to take Trevor as his mate. Or is that really the plan? Once again join Raven and her cohorts in this enjoyable read.

This book is a little bit better than the other two books because it has much more suspense as Raven and Alexander try to keep Jagger and Luna from whatever their plans are. Anyways, you won’t miss much because this book only takes place only about a day or so after the previous book.

There is much more plot and suspense, and the author kept me wanting more. :) Even though the basic idea behind it is very simple to some people, I still enjoyed it. There are wonderful descriptions for both characters and events. And though Jagger and Luna are suppose to be the “villains” in this book, I just can’t hate them. So, the author does a wonderful job at making the characters appealing. I just had one problem with the description “goth”. The author uses it in all the books, and I’m starting to get annoyed that she keeps on reminding us of that fact.

Anyways, there are less romantic scenes than the other books, but it still has the witty/comic relief comments. Also, I’m starting to think that Trevor and Raven might like each other, at least a little bit. I am almost hoping Raven ends up with bad boy Trevor, instead of quiet Alexander. :|

The book still has a serious mood to it, and it doesn’t really lessen. The author ends the book with a sort of cliffhanger since they find out that Jagger’s and Luna’s brother, Valentine, was with Billy and Henry. Overall, I found the book a fun, simple, quick read with some exciting things happening.(less)

Vampireville is the third installment of the Vampire Kisses series, follwing Raven and Alexander in their escapades as they battle the vengeful vampire Jagger.

I would have liked this book better if Raven wasn't constantly referring to herself as "a lonely, 16-year-old, vampire-obsessed Goth." And of course, she refers to Alexander as "her knight of the night, her gothic prince of darkness." It is obvious that Schreiber herself is nowhere near Goth. Shelves: guilty-pleasure, young-adult-reads

Jagger and Luna have settled in town and Alexander and Raven try to find a way to get them out. That will be a challenge since Luna and Trevor have started dating.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who is getting sick and tired of Raven constantly explaining how goth she is with black clothes and black lipstick and black everything else. And enough with the freaking name dropping. Yeah, you like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Marilyn Manson, and Donnie Darko. Who gives a damn?

A classmate of mine from Second City and I created and performed a two woman show for a year before I braved it alone doing stand-up comedy. It was during this time I began to write an adult novel about a rock star--I had always enjoyed writing...

Fast forward a couple of years along with a move home where I was performing “stand-up” at comedy clubs in the area. On a plane to LA to decide my fate-- “to move to LA or not to move to LA” that is the question, my big bro, Mark, coincidentally with the same last name as mine (author of PRINCES IN EXILE, DREAMS OF THE SOLO TRAPEZE and STARCROSSED) handed me a young adult book he found at the library he thought I’d like to read during the flight.

As I read the book, I thought, ‘I can do this!’

I returned from LA, and instead of moving there, I wrote my story about the rock star as a young adult novel and called it JOHNNY LIGHTNING.
Mark, my writing mentor, edited JL for me. He was kind enough to send the manuscript to his publisher in Belgium--Facet--and they published it! In Dutch!

I was now on a new life path!

In 2001 HarperCollins made me an offer I couldn’t refuse! Not only was HarperCollins going to publish TEENAGE MERMAID, but it was in a language I could read and book stores I could walk into! HarperCollins also bought VAMPIRE KISSES and COMEDY GIRL.

It was a dream come true!

Since beginning my new life path, VAMPIRE KISSES, TEENAGE MERMAID, and MY MOTHER, THE CLOWN have been published by Facet in Belgium and JOHNNY LIGHTNING has been published in Germany by Ravensburger.

Then my fabulous editor at HarperCollins asked me for a sequel to VAMPIRE KISSES!
HarperCollins published VAMPIRE KISSES 2--KISSING COFFINS and now the soon to be released VAMPIRE KISSES 3--VAMPIREVILLE. I am currently writing VAMPIRE KISSES 4!

When I'm not writing about the love affair between vampire obsessed, goth girl Raven and my favorite mysterious dark-eyed hottie, Alexander Sterling, I enjoy working on my other novels, shopping for Hello Kitty items, and attempting to gain control of the remote from my boyfriend.(less)
