Not exactly sure why I liked this one, since it was kind of random, had few explanations, and little to no character development.
Maybe because I like Kim Dare's writing, and because Leland was admirable in his exasperated/fond/protective mien. Keats had the potential to be another interesting character, if he hadn't flip-flopped so often. At first he was the excited, naive little man who was willing to walk around a room naked because he thought everyone else there were only PRETENDI More...

I really liked this story. It starts out as a somewhat unusual D/s situation between a vampire and a human.
Leland and Keats have been best friends for a while, with Leland resisting any advances for fear of subjecting Keats to a type of submission the vampire isn't sure the human is ready for. Keats has been secretly fantasizing about Leland topping him. When push comes to shove, Keats is forced to act like a submissive in public. But he has certain ideas about how their relationship More...

Kim Dare's novellas are always great fun! You can read one over a lunch break if you're a fast reader or as a bedtime story if you're like me and it takes you a little longer to savor a book. Blood Slave is one of those great reads that moves fast toward a decadent climax.
Summary: From a kinky brat to a vampire's perfect blood slave. Keats's education starts tonight!More...
Keats may have reluctantly agreed to admit that vampires are fantasy and not reality. And he may have prom

It's always a red-letter day for me when a new Kim Dare book comes out, and Blood Slave is no exception. Blood Slave is a little bit of a departure for Kim -- into the world of dominant vampires, who take submission a step farther by requiring their submissives to be a source of blood as well.

I don't know if I am completely objective anymore about Kim Dare books. I always love them. The law of averages would mean that at least some of them would have to be average or *heaven forbid* below average but to me, they never are. That is why I question my objectivity.
I think I'm like Pavlov's dog. Conditioned to react favorably to a Kim Dare novel like a dinner bell. I think I might even salivate a little when I see the title on the website.
Either way, I loved this More...

I've been complaining lately about sex heavy books where I just found myself wanting more plot. I lied. Apparently I just needed mind-blowing sex as opposed to mediocre "are they done yet?" sex. *fans self*
In this book, the sex was sizzling. Hell, the entire book was erotically charged. Love that. Don't even need much in the way of actual sex when that charge is so potent. Yum.
What could be better - vampires, D/s, and hot guys making out?

As a story of BDSM between a vampire and a human I really enjoyed it. The characters were both strong and the world they lived in had potential. I didn't actually think Keats was a brat, as submissive as he was (which I doubted at times, at least outside the bedroom) he was no pushover and had no problem in establishing his boundaries. I smiled a lot at Leland's confusion at Keats' antics and wish we'd gotten more of a background on their friendship before Leland was forced to collar Keats at th

As often in a Kim Dare’s story, this is a funny and light intake on the D/s world. Due to the gothic cover, that is a common cover for these vampire novellas by Total-e-Bound, at first I didn’t understand if it was an historical or contemporary setting: Leland has cornered his best friend Keats and collared him; in few words we understand first, that Keats is a brat and second, that Leland is a vampire. Other than being a brat, Keats is also a magnet for trouble, and he managed to volunteer for

I can't seem to sort my feelings about this little story.
YES, I liked:
Keats - He was funny, sincere, and a bossy human sub. I liked how he was clever enough to get what he wanted and to serve Leland's interests as well. I really, really liked how he refused to let Leland walk all over him. He was a great character if a bit naive, silly and occasionally stupid? in a TSTL sort of way, but maybe that attitude of his in wherever Leland found him was him just tr More...

You can’t help liking the characters & the whole vampire/blood slave angle was great.
As to Dom/Sub – I’m very new to this theme & have had a few reservations in some of the books I’ve recently read. However, I had no such qualms with this as it was not hardcore & it just seemed to fit
A very enjoyable short story & I will be reading more from this author in the future

This book was only 2 dollars and some change on my Nook, so I said hey, what the heck. Bleh. I didn't like it that much bc it was only 131 pages and it was extremely rushed. They turned into submissive / dominant like super fast and then all the sudden they love each other, and i am not feeling hardly any chemistry at all, it's kind of like reading a play or something.

"Overall I found this to be an engaging story. Keats and Leland are well written and the progress of their relationship was fun to read. The sex scenes are hot and the promise of a happy future for them makes this a truly enjoyable story. Fans of Kim Dare will not want to miss reading her latest story."

Keats has to be one of the most annoying, pushiest and most mouthy bottom I've read about and as pesty as he sounds you can truly fall for the bratskie. Excellent story and and utterly interesting and very amusing short read.

No idea why i read this one, i was just bored and it was there. And since it's only 47 pages long, i thought why not? A light, fun and kinky short story. Meh!

Sort of scattered and nonsensical. Didn't feel like a complete story, stuff seemed to happen for no reason, and the characters were not developed at all.

Good kinky paranormal m/m romance about a vampire who doesn't realize that humans can offer submission without being broken to do so.

nice vampire bdsm story.
since I read it after With a Kiss, I was wondering if it's the same vampires world.

This was a very quick, fun read. I was left with many scenarios and "what happened then" questions and wish it were longer.

This story had good potential, what there is of it is good, unfortunately it was way too short.

Overall, an okay story. The dialogue was engaging and of course the sex was hot, something that Kim Dare always does well. I just hate when I feel like an issue could be resolved by just a simple conversation, but isn't. I can see that that isn't the point here -- instead, it's a game of testing limits between the two characters. Still, I just never really got into it.

There were things in this story that were left unexplained. The MC's had a few funny moments. Although there was a spanking scene, this book was a little too light for me.
