Be forewarned, this is NOT a book you can read as a stand-alone. I made the mistake of reading the first in this series and unknowingly skipping the second to read the third. Boy, what a difference one book makes. Where "Untamed" had an element of magic an mystery, I felt it was still somewhat grounded in reality. "Enchanted" seemed as if the author was trying too hard and she overtook the boundaries of that magical element so that the end result was a book that was comple...more

This book was lent to me by annadlx as part of a sort of Elizabeth Lowell sampler. Although I had read Untamed a while ago, I am not always into medieval stories, but when they are well-written (such as those by Madeline Hunter, in my opinion), they are great. I enjoyed the mixture of history and magic in this tale, and found the characters credible and moving.

Whoever sees this book in my collections says, "Hey this isn't Ella Enchanted...". Well I wasn't looking for Ella Enchanted, dudes, this is another book, just Enchanted. I came across this hmmm wat should I say, it wasn't amazing, it wasn't boring, guess average is what I would say. So discovered this during a time when I wanted a change from the murder mysteries. Thought a romance would be fun. The plot basically is a will they, won't they... have sex that is. That's about it... the o...more

I am in a reading funk. I hate that! First, I finished the trio of Elizabeth Lowell beardy hero books. I loved the first two, Untamed and Forbidden. But the last one, Enchanted, was a super big bummer.

Reading books about raped heroines is not my favorite, but sometimes it's okay if.....(a) the rape is not described in gory detail, and (b) the "healing" part is appropriate for a "rape" book (in other words, don't have a rape victim get it on with a BDSM master, etc...more

I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire medieval trilogy by Elizabeth Lowell, which started with Untamed, followed by Forbidden, and ending with this book, Enchanted. Though they were, in some ways, a bit predictable, they were also quite satisfying in their conclusions.

I'm very sad that she has no plans for more medieval stories, but I do plan on reading more of her works.

Though each of her books can be read alone, I do highly suggest reading the entire trilogy in order.

This fantastical romance set during the reign of Henry I in England/Scotland showcased a strong pair of lovers who must overcome misunderstandings to find true love. Ariane is forced into a marriage with Simon--but because of her past she is deathly afraid of the wedding bed. Simon fortunately is not the type to force himself on her--but neither does he treat her with the tenderness she needs. Will these two come together--and will the magic in Ariane's clothes and the land around them help t...more

The book was good but not entirely enjoyable. It balanced between good parts and bad parts....but at least there was balance. Enchanted is the third book in Elizabeth Lowell's Medieval series. However it was the first one I read. I liked it enough that I would consider trying the other two in the series, but I don't know if I liked it enough to want to keep it on my shelves at home. I'll have to think about that some more.

ALthough part of a series, I felt it could definitely be a sta...more

This book really pulled the story together. If you love a good romantic tale of long ago you will love this series. It makes you want more. There are not Fae or druids but lots of insinuation of such - the wowmen whom are gifted are called "witches" and the men socerrers or Learned. Would love to see Erik and Cassandra get drawn more into the story. The plot is fantastic and the author does a great job describing the scenes in detail you feel like you are walking in the story with...more

This book is an old favorite, even though the hero was almost unbelievably oblivious through the main part of the book. I like the atmosphere of medieval England- the everpresent sense of danger from attack, magic interwoven with everyday affairs, and the sense that knights weren't just all about jousting and parading about: this was a land and a time that necessitated that society train and support specialized fighters in order to maintain safety and, hopefully, peace.

2 Stars...It was just Ok

I've seen nothing but pretty high ratings and rave reviews for this one so I'm kind of confused at what the heck's going on...Obviously it's my problem...

From page one I kept hearing the Twilight Zone theme in the back of my mind because this book was just no way around it weird! The characters were ok I guess so my issue isn't there...I like paranormal/truth seers/witches novels so that's not what threw me off...So maybe it's the writing or just t...more

Like it's title it's enchanting. I read this books years and year ago and have reread it a couple times. It's a great romance with a little bit of magic.

i couldn't get into the book the whole magical element was just to much for me and the ending was sort of there and then gone all of the sudden i checked out another book in the series hoping its better!!

It's been a while since I've read a medieval romance, and I forget how difficult those times are. Decent read.

Downside is I didn't realize that this is the third book of a trilogy. Now, I have to go hunting for the firs two.

Extremely purple prose. But reasonably entertaining.

I shouldn't have to try so many times to finish a book. For now, I'm moving on.

Just enough "paranormal" to be magical, not eerie or whatever it is that normally doesn't appeal to me about other-worldly stories. I don't know if it's just the novelty - since I'd already re-read the preceding two in the series, and this is the first time I've ever read this installment - but I like this one the best of the three.
Joy
Nobody was named Amber in the Middle Ages. This name did not come into use until the 19th Century. Strike one for this book. It wasn't very believable in other ways, but I did have a lot of sympathy for the heroine (She has a better name too) and that kept me reading. I recommend grabbing this one from the library.
Diana
Simon the Loyal must marry Ariane the Betrayed in order to keep peace in the Disputed Lands. Ariane's secret betrayal was a rape that led to her being shunned by her people and her father.

Simon and Ariane have real trust issues that are very uncomfortable. Just when things start to look up, something else happens.
Therese
Both Ariane and Simon have been deeply scarred emotionally by their pasts, and it's affected how they treat each other and those around them. I liked reading how despite their pasts, they are attracted to each other and that they could overcome their problems to make their marriage work.

“The sacred rowan is a woman born long, long ago, a woman whose refusal to see love cost first her lover's life, then the lives of her family, her clan, her people.
But not her own life. Not quite.
In pity and punishment she was turned into an undying tree, a rowan that weeps only in the presence of transcendent love; and the tears of the rowan are blossoms that confer extraordinary grace upon those who can see them.
When enough tears are wept, the rowan will be free. She waits inside a sacred ring that can be neither weighed or measured nor touched. She waits for love that is worth her tears.
The rowan is waiting still.”
