This is the third book in the Cape Light Series, and I found it enjoyable reading, although not as captivating as book 1. As this book opens, it is Thanksgiving and Cape Light Mayor Emily Warwick is delivering a pie to the would-be man of her dreams, Dan Forbes, who owns and publishes one of the small newspapers that serve the region. As you might predict, that relationship blossoms as this book continues.

Reverend Ben, the small community’s rock, is himself battered by life in this book, and he...more

Very enjoyable, as with the others in the series, but still some sad doctrinal flaws that are self- rather than God-focused, ex.:
Page 115: He gives the reason for giving: "Giving makes us feel good about ourselves... and closer to God." This is a needs-based view, and is self-focused, so it is not glorifying God.
Page 128: "...she deserved to be happy. She deserved better than this, at least." We are not to see ourselves as higher than we are without Christ. What do we really deserve, since we ar...more

A Gathering Place, the third installment in the Cape Light series. Coming back to Cape Light is where everyone feels at home reading these books. They are comforting.

With the Cape Light mayoral election over, Emily Warwick is now able to concentrate more on her relationship with her now found daughter, Sara Franklin, the daughter she gave up some 20 years ago.
She regrets all the years she spent apart from Sara due to her mother's (Lillian Warwick) influence. Emily, also, seems to be having more...more

I just love this series because the characters and the situations that their lives place them in are so true to life. There is love, anger, heartbreak, jealousy, competition, self awareness, friendship, believing in God, to questioning ones own faith, and having a sense of what family and community is all about wrapped up in one little town called Cape Light!!!! I love how the characters age range from new born, with their whole life ahead of them, to the very old, who are set in their ways and t...more

I find myself captivated by this series, enjoyable read, not deep and serious, just a good read with characters I've come to know.

Very easy to read, light book. Predictable, happy endings, but I was drawn into the characters. Very quaint. If you want a feel good book that is not super cheesy this series is good. I like to read them when I don't want to think too hard.

Thomas Kinkade was known as the "Painter of Light." His works, although spurned by the secular art establishment. were very popular with Christians and many others.
