^^GIDEON UP!^^

The second book in the NightWalker series is not as good as the first but it does spin a very interesting story and introduces you to characters that you cant help but love and be intrigued by. This world of demons is unlike any other, they are the earth able to rule over the elements with strength and power. I give this book a 3.5 out of 5. I liked it but I didn’t love but I still gobbled it down.

Gideon is an Ancient being one of the oldest demon all he knows is solitude, and has...more

Gideon, the second book in the Nightwalkers series, was an okay read.

Unlike Jacob, the first book, which I loved, this book felt long, analytical, somewhat boring, and very redundant. The author kept reiterating the plot from the first book. These books are meant to be read in order, and it was disappointing that the author didn't treated it as such.

Also, the two main characters, Gideon and Magdalena, had very little, if any, chemistry between them. I even found myself, toward the end...more

Re-read by audiobook. I'm a little tired of the Romanian-ish accent. And then they threw in a Russian accent. I didn't like this one any better

Previous review 07/15/10 I'm going to give this book 3.5 stars. The beginning was a little boring. I thought Legna was a little weird around Gideon and couldn't figure out why she was throwing fits everytime she saw him. When it was finally explained that about 8 years before he saw her in the garden, gave her some really intense kisses, pushed her away...more

After a slow, rocky start (the first 2-3 chapters), this second book in the Nightwalkers series really takes off and doesn't slow down for breath. There was too much exposition and re-capping in the beginning, no matter how relevant some of it was, and this lost it a star (it took me two tries to read this). But the chemsitry and development of Gideon and Magdelegna was excellent, and you get to meet the Vampire Prince, Damien, and the Queen of the Lycanthropes, Siena. Bella and Jacob feature pr...more

Okay, my rating on this book is low even though I love the story. In fact I will continue on in the series specifically because I love the storyline and the world Jacqueline Frank built.
My complaint is the way she writes...it is unnecessarily and overly formal, repetitive and way too overly-analytical.

My best example was when Gideon and Legna finally got to the point of being intimate and the author spent like 8 pages on the mental foreplay. But...more

This is the second book in the series.

Gideon is an Ancient, a healer, who has taken his duties seriously for the 1000 years he has been alive. He is known for great wisdom and is well respected among his race of demons. But he is vulnerable to the primitive desires of his race during the time of the hallowed moon, Samhaim. Nine years ago , he lost his composure with his king's baby sister, Magdelegna. He berated himself for his weakness for Legna is but a mere child to his age. He exiled himself...more

The second book in the Nightwalkers paranormal romance series, and I'm really liking it. Many fans of this genre complain that it takes 228 pages before this book has it's first sex scene, but I didn't mind. Ms. Frank spends those 228 pages endearing the characters to you - you get to know them inside and out and see them interact with all sorts of situations. Personally, if I don't love the characters, then I don't enjoy the book. This series does a great job of making you "part of the family",...more

I did read the first in this series Jacob , and felt it was a decent start to a new series. So, when I found a cheap used copy of this one, I figured what the heck?

Ugh, I wish I hadn't bothered. I didn't even finish it, and I just don't NOT finish a book. It's only happened less than a handful of times.

I felt like it took way too long to get to the story for this book. It seemed like a quarter of the book was spent rehashing the first one. And not even creatively. The dialogue felt so forced and...more

I can't believe the reviews on this book are not more positive, I really loved it. I enjoyed the first book, Jacob, well enough to read the next one at least, and I'm very glad I did because I loved Gideon.

I've seen some complaints on other reviews that the first love scene doesn't appear until quite late in the book, but for me, this really built the anticipation and when it did finally happen it was lovely. The love scenes were certainly not the hottest I have read, but I felt that they were...more

I did not enjoyed the second installment in this series as much as I did the firt book in it, Jacob.

I got a bit bored at the beggining. It took me half the book to get a bit onterested in this couple. The chemestry between them wasn't too stong. I did not feel a strong conection between them. And in my opinion, Guideon wasn't too interesting.

Although I did like a lot to know more about the Lycans and the vampires. I found really intriguing this new paranormal world that Jacquelyn Frank has crea...more

If new to the series, do not start with this book. You really need to read Jacob first. While many series keep characters in the fringe, this series appears to keep the characters from previous books very much involved in the story line and you will have difficulty following if not read in order.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as Jacob. The characters are still likable, but for some reason this one lacked the excitement. Maybe because unlike the first book, this one focused not on a mystery, bu...more

I really liked Gideon! Despite the typos I was totally taken away. I think Ms. Frank is now my second favorite romance writer (next to Kresley Cole)! I love the way she writes the emotions, romance, & action. She really has the gift writing convesations between the couples. There's a lot of talking, but hey that's what I'm in it for, so I didn't mind in the slightest.

I was slightly irritated by the amount of backstory/retelling, but that's probably because I just read Jacob a couple weeks...more

I read this via Audio--by Xe Sands.

This is the second in the series about "Demons" a very long lived elemental group that belong to a group of races called "Night Walkers". Gideon is the oldest of his people, and Elena the sister to the king-and highly empathetic. They are destined to be together--and as they learn to navigate their relationship they must fight the continuous dark forces bent on destroying all night walker races.

I thought the story elegantly written--I enjoyed the interactions...more

The star rating is really more of a 2.5 than a three for me. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and I was looking forward to this one because Gideon and Magdalena were so fun and snarky in the first book. Gideon's cluelessness about women combined with Legna's girl power independence seemed like a slam dunk for a great book. Unfortunately, the romance didn't really play out like I thought it would. I thought there would be more sparks flying and snappy arguments, but Legna really seem...more

Inhalt:

I am sorry to say that I struggled with this one. It was an act of sheer will and perseverance that allowed me to even get to the end. I can't say that I didn't skim a few pages hear and there...but I did finish it!

I loved the first book, Jacob, and couldn't wait for this one. I could've/should've waited and saved my time. Legna is someone I couldn't wait to hear more about. I loved her heart and soul that she showed in Jacob, but unfortunately it didn't continue in this one. I found her charac...more

Iwill probably be in the minority with this book, but as Frank's Book One (Jacob) in the Nightwalkers series, "Gideon" is much the same: trying to read it is very difficult. The wording and conversations between the characters are very cold and mechanical. Other than mostly dialogue and descriptions of inner longer or angst for our two main characters, there is not much more going on. If you are a fan of nice love scenes also, there is not much more going on at that end either.

Gideon is that co...more

It’s not a big surprise that I loved “Gideon” the second book of the paranormal romance series Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank, because from the first book I found myself in love with the series!
The main characters are Gideon, an Ancient demon and Legna sister of the Demon king. Gideon is the oldest of the demons, very strong and respected in the world of the Nightwalkers. He has unique powers and he lives a lonely life. He wasn’t searching for a female company for many years but nine years befo...more

I gave this a four instead of a three, which is my original rating, for a lot of reasons. The author's writing style was somewhat narrative and it didn't really hold my attention for too long. There were times when I stop in the middle of it and surf the net, it just didn't absorb me. Here I'm spouting negative stuff while I rated it 4...here's why:

This one has the same tone as "Jacob", the first in the Nightwalker series. It's really serious, sure there was humor but the overall atmosphere for...more

Well, what can I say. The book was ok. A huge disappointment compared to the first one. But, I kinda expected that from the beginning. The characters were introduced in the first book and I wondered at the authors choice to write about this couple. Gideon is not the type of character that rapidly gains admirers. He needs to grow on you and being the subject of the 2nd book, well, it just wasn't enough time. He is too, I dunno, old and too..turned off to garner much interest. He's not dominant in...more

Well, as one who very much enjoyed Jacob, and then Noah which I read next for some reason, I was looking forward to Gideon. I found it was a let down. Not bad, per se, but not great either. I found the romantic tension that Gideon and Legna had in the first book did not translate to their own story...they were just kind of blah. Again, not bad but not great. Here's hoping the rest pick up a bit.

This book is the second book of the Nightwalker series by Jacquelyn Frank. As you can see, I've given it 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. I have only one major complaint: At the beginning, its very slow. Frustratingly slow! Let me give you a quick and dirty summary!

Now, if you haven't read the first one, you should NOT read the second one. In my opinion, these need to be read in order. The main reason is because you would already know that Demons aren't devily demons. They look like...more

Once again, the author does a great job of exploring her world beyond her characters. The characters themselves are great and if you really loved Jacob and Isabella from the first book, they are very present in this one as well. Gideon was the most interesting character to me in the first book and this book lives up to its expectations. We are also introduced to vampire culture and, more significantly, the lycanthrope culture of the author's world. Just as the author created a unique and rich de...more

The 2nd installment of Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series deals primarily with the contemptuous relationship between Gideon and Legna. There's acrimonious history there and the two of them don't get along all that well, hiding their emotions from the other.

There is info dump about Damien, the Vampire Prince, with whom Gideon meets, there's info dump about Legna feeling unlike herself lately and I was a little bored.

And then Isabella, mated to Jacob (Book 1) is viciously attacked and left for...more

Put against Jacob, I have to say I liked Jacob for it's more direct focusing on characters. In Gideon we got a more rounded point of view from all our past characters. It was nice, but the focuse wasn't directed to just Gideon and Legna.

Gideon and Legna were so different than Jacob and Bella. Gideon being the oldest of the nightwalkers is use to his solitude. The discovery of the Durids has really caused all his past mistakes to weigh heavily on him. He keeps him emotions under control and doesn...more

Jacquelyn Frank books and I have a fickle relationship with one another. Most I like, some I can't wait for their end, others I enjoy immensely in parts, none I adore, yet. I'm holding out great hope that I will soon adore one. The potential is seemingly always there which is why I continue my relentless search. Jacob (book #1) almost got me so after getting a little taste of the mysterious Gideon (book #2) I really thought that his book would be the new objection of my adoration. Alas, it turne...more

I was so ready for Gideon's book after reading Jacob's, he is the oldest of the Demons, but of course still mega hot, so don't fear there are no saggy man bums and wrinkly...other things, as the eldest, an Ancient he is the most powerful demon, but he has been living a solitary life as a self infliced punishment for the wrongs he committed in his long past. That is until Legna, the Demon King Noah's empath sister comes along and totally rocks his world.

I wanted to like this much more then I act...more
