Samplers (Shire Collections, #2)
Samplers have a long history in Britain and the United States, dating from the sixteenth century. They were originally a collection of patterns gathered together for easy reference to be used in embroidery and needlepoint lace. But they later developed into a schoolgirls' exercise, and today they are more often used to record stitches than patterns.

People into the history of historical samplers
This book was wonderful! It's easy to read. A relatively short book. The pictures are very detailed and the information about each sampler is impressive. It's hard to imagine that girls, even at the age of 7, could embroider such splendid pieces of art onto cloth. This book takes you back to the past and gives you great insight to this particular art. A Must Have in any embroiderer's collection.
