DK has a winning product here. Written at the 2nd Grade level (AR 2.3) it's got lots of great photos that outline Luke's life-- starting on Tatooine and ending where his father, Darth Vader, ceases to be a bad guy.

In between, it talks about C3PO, Leia, Hans, Yoda, the destruction of the Death Star, and Anakin. It's all presented in a very abbreviated fashion, but most kids are going to be able to follow the plot without problems.

Be warned, this book covers events in all three movies of the original trilogy (i.e. New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi). The author does quite a good job simplifying the story, but there are a few statements that aren't quite true. (For example, Luke used the force to make his shot that destroyed the Death Star, but this book claims it was a "lucky shot."

This is pretty much a recap of Lukes life. If a kid has not seen the movie then it will pretty much ruin everything for them and not for any really good reason. It is fairly easy for a beginning reader to get into though. Grades K+

Illustrated with color photos from the Star Wars films, this is little book tells a very simplified version of Luke Skywalker's story. Perfect for beginning readers.

Luke has an AMAZING story! We're talking lightsabers, blasters, and this crazy dude named DARTH VADER. Shoowee. Must-read.
