I loved this book even if it was a little cliche and I could not stop reading. It killed me to have to stop when I got to work with only about 40 pages left to read. Watching Sarah's character was like watching a whirlwind of efficiency blowing through life as she tried to be the perfect wife, mother, employee and yet never really satisfying anyone fully, including herself. After she drives her car off a bridge and plunges into the river she experiences something akin to The Christmas Carol i...more
Any Minute by Joyce Meyer, Deborah Bedford is a inspirational story of one woman's drive to succeed no matter what the costs. A story of insecurity and child hood emotional abuse that will send Sarah into turmoil and making her see that faith is all it takes to overcome what has been done.

There were a lot of cheesy adjectives in the first chapter of this book, so I almost quit reading it. But because I wanted to see what would happen to a woman whose car plunged over a bridge and into a river I plugged along and was soon rewarded; the cheesy adjectives waned, and I began to see why the author might have chosen them. I think she was trying to show how shallow the main character's life was prior to her near-death experience.

What a great uplifting book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and its message. One I would read a gain to b e uplifted. Easy read with a great message. I will look for more books from this author :O)

Joyce Meyer may be known for her non-fiction books filled with inspiration and spiritual insight, but she might just have something to offer the fictional world as well. Together with Deborah Bedford they have presented us with the book "Any Minute". What happens when a wife and mother obsessed with her career has a brush with death (maybe more than a brush, more like a punch)? Can she get her priorities straight? Can she salvage her relationship with her children? Her husband? Is it t...more
This was a good story in a "Christmas Carol" sort of way. The first 100 pages or so didn't grip me, but there was a point to be driven home about a driven woman. The second half of the book brought a 3-star rating up to 4.
Good quote from page 4: "Sarah liked to keep her to-do list as finely tuned as the engine in the Lincoln she drove. This, she had decided, was the way to happiness. Sarah had similar expectations of other people. As a matter of fact, she stron...more

Any Minute is about Sarah, a high-octane stock broker, who will settle for nothing less than perfection in her professional life and as a wife and mother. This is a story about choices. Hard choices about what is important in life. At her core, Sarah knows sheās letting her children down and that her marriage is suffering, but at the same time, pressure is building at the office, and in an attempt to juggle it all, her world falls apart.

I picked this book up at the library because of the near-death experience of the main character. I found it a little too Christian fundamentalist for me at times, but I was able to ignore that for the most part. The main character, Sarah, is too harsh, too driven to be too likable for me. However, it was written well enough to keep me reading it all the way through. I actually felt more connected to the husband. I liked the lessons about putting family first, and giving to others (random acts of...more
I was very excited about this book, I read Deborah Bedford a few months back and enjoyed the real feeling and characterization she puts into her fiction. I have also heard wonderful things about Joyce Meyer but have never read her.

Sarah is determined to provide for her family, no matter the cost. She is constantly making promises to her family only to let them down at the last minute when something "comes up" at work. She is stressed out, overworked, exhausted, and not sure where God is in her life. She doesn't take the time to get to know her children's nanny, but is constantly spying on her with a nanny monitoring service. When her boss calls her and tells her that once again he schedule an appointment that sh...more
Listening to the audio book: where it takes place in the windy city, Chicago, and Chicago Cubs. Joyce Meyer is not only a nonfiction writer, now writing fiction.
So far, this book is too descriptive and not getting to the meat of the story! It was extremely slow for me. Some parts were rushed, and wondered how Sarah survived (unless I missed it on audio) and her son Mitchell falls from the Scoreboard at a Chicago Cubs game, did not hear if he lived with any injuries. If this is the ca...more

I can't say enough good things about this particular audiobook. It was fantastic! The topics that were touched upon, I could really relate to. Sarah is so busy with her life that she sees that she is neglecting her family but doesn't know how to go about solving her problem. She can do things for everyone around her but when it comes to her family, the people she is closest to, it is so much more difficult to make things right. Throughout the book, Sarah forms a closer bond with God and learns t...more
This book was just okay to me. I have a hard time NOT finishing a book or a movie once started. I think I am hopeful that it will get better and if I quit prematurely that I might just miss it.
Anyway - this book is the classic "life flashing before your eyes" story where you see the past, present and future. I didn't like the detour that went on forever in the middle of the most dramatic part of the story.

After: Okay, so this wasn't the most unpredictable book that I've ever read. Really pretty standard for Christian fiction although that in itself is not always a bad thing. Quick read. I did find myself wanting to get back to it when I wasn't reading. That's always a good sign.
Before: Haven't started this but I do have it and I will start it... I'm checking it out because it's Joyce Meyer fiction and I'm curious. Not usually a Meyer fan but I thought I'd give her fiction a whirl...more

This was a clean book that tells a story about important it is to cherish our families and live good lives.
It was disappointing that the main event (described on the back cover) doesn't even happen until about half way through the book though. And, the likeness to A Christmas Carol (even noted in the book) was a bit . . . well, unoriginal.

I couldn't even finish this book; I got about halfway through and gave up. It was very cliched and rather unoriginal. The main character especially was one-dimensional and said all the trite things you would expect from a self-centered workaholic wife & mother who has a "life-changing, near death" experience.
This book started out rather slowly, but it wasn't long and I couldn't put it down. This is another book about heaven, but this one is fiction. But, it really makes you look at your life and helps you prioritize the important things in life. This is a great book and I highly recommend it!
This book was excellent. It was engaging and reflective into the importance we place on the things of this world. The author drew scriptural reference to the importance of God in the life of the main character and showed the transformation that took place. A definite read!
I really like Joyce Meyer's messages and non-fiction writings, and I really wanted to like this book, but it wasn't my favorite. It was a quick read and although I found that it was somewhat thought provoking, it was rather bland and a bit cliche. I don't usually read Chrisitan fiction, but I would recommend this to those readers that enjoy Christian fiction.
Sarah is a mother with a high power job in downtown Chicago. She puts work above her husband and children, and they are frustrated with that. Then a life changing event makes her wish for a second chance. If you believe in miracles and angels, you will probably like this book.
Although not at all an original story line (even Sarah, the main character, says she feels like she's in "A Christmas Carol"), the book kept my interest nontheless, probably because it is centered in today's society.
In the end, it's a little too heavy on religion for me, but I think that it does give us something to think about, and as I said, it's just the end that's like that.
A book that I would recommend.

This book was a very fast read. I learned that life is way too short and we must not get caught up in the meaningless things in life. What is really important in this life is family and seeking a closer relationship with our loved ones and our Lord.
This book was not so good. The first couple of chapters were, and then it just got hurried and a little lame. Tha character's new outlook on life was not believable, nor was her reconciliation with her husband. It almost felt like there were pages missing and you didn't get the whole story.
This was a good book. I enjoyed seeing the main character change and grow in her faith. The little boy reminded me of my daughter at my mother-in-law's funeral when she saw a white feather float out of the sky she said it was grandma in heaven.
Why must we have to go throught a traumatic event to recognize what's really important? This book helps you look at your own life BEFORE "the" event causes you to self exam. That may be death, health, loss, etc. Examine beforehand.
I loved the message of this book! It was inspirational, especially in times like these when one can get so caught up in moving forward that they forget to enjoy the here and now. The book was a bit predictable, but a nice read!
This was an okay book. A little slow and it took my a while to read it because I just couldn't get into it, but I finally got it finished. Not something that I would recommend or read again for sure.
A wonderful novel. I learnt that every Christian should live every day as if its her last on earth. This book reveals the importance of family over work and the importance of living a life that is ready for the after-life with Christ.
This was a selection for my Church Book Club and I found it to be very predictable but I would recommend for readers that normally would not pick a title from a Christian writer.
I appreciate the research that the author put into the character's career (stocks) and also the knowledge of the baseball team. I thought that was clever and a lot of hard work.
