My second Nora Roberts book and I loved it just as much as the first.

The chemistry between Matthew and Tate was sweet (as young adults) and then evolved into something fiery and substantial after they re-united (not without drama along the way, of course).

I liked both Matthew and Tate individually, as well as a couple, and enjoyed reading about their lives during their time apart. I thought this gave a lot of depth to their characters.

I enjoyed the twist(s) in the story at the end (Go Teams Bea

This is probably one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. The villian was certainly a man to fear. I had no idea that this book had 2 different time frames and thought it a bit strange that the story started out with a 19 year old and a 25 year old. For Nora Roberts readers you know that her main characters are generally in their late 20's early 30's. It made sense when the story shifted 8 years later. I really enjoyed this book. The other Nora Roberts books I have been reading lately, although en ...more

I loved all the information about diving/wreck hunting/ and scavenging. The ocean and adventures were beautifully described and it made me want to buy a boat and take some scuba diving lessons. Marla and Ray were a great couple and wonderful parents. Buck was a great crotchety old man and Uncle and I was glad that his character came around after the shark incident. Angeligues curse and the fabled necklace gave the book the right amount of magic and wonder.
Really, the only thing that kept this

One of my favorite Nora Roberts books of all time. It has all the elements that make a great romantic-suspense for me. 1) a treasure hunt 2) real nasty villain and 3) H/h who are reunited after being torn apart.

The young adult love of Tate and Matthew tears your heart out, especially after all that Matthew has had to live through. To have their dream of the Marguerites' treasure and happily ever after torn apart by one of NR's nastiest villains, Silas Vandyke, really made the first part of the b

The Lassiters and Beaumonts team up to salvage wrecked ships for treasure and share the "riches". Tate Beaumont is studying to be a marine archeologist and her focus is to salvage the whole ship and set up a museum to display what is found. The Lassiters are more interested in the money they can make. One treasure, "Angelique's Curse", is the driving force in finding the "Santa Marguerite" and the "Isabella". The rich Silas Van Dyke also has a passion for finding the amulet and will stop at noth ...more

Really good mix of romance and mystery! loved the emotion and heartbreak and passion. I got so into this book that I felt anger, betrayal, joy and so many more emotions alongside the characters. I thought really well written in my opinion.

Don't let the number of stars I gave this book full you - it was certainly a good story and I would recommend it to any Nora Roberts fan. This is the second of NR's earlier novels that I've read recentley, and I have to admit, I find them a bit refreshing compared to some of the books she is putting out now - same plotline, same couple, different know what I am saying if you have read more than one of her books. That's not to say that I don't enjoy her current works, I do, very much. ...more

I bought this book at the airport because I had finished my other book and had forgotten my second book at home. I knew it wasn't going to be the great American novel, but Nora Roberts, for what she does, usually delivers with a good beach read/plane read.

I have read some Nora Roberts in my day and this was definitely one of my least favorite. Well, of course I had to finish it. I mean, it's so easy to read and I bought the freaking book. But most Nora Roberts books, I want to go back and re-rea

I really needed a mindless break from work and literary reading I have been doing lately and nothing soothes me quite like a Nora Roberts book. The problem? I have read all of her books and don't normally reread....I made an exception and revisited the first ever NR book that I read (stolen off my mom's shelf in 1998 at the young age of 15). The white sand beach and palm tree on the front cover enticed me to enter the world of Tate, a 20 year old woman who is in college to become a marine archae ...more

I don't usually read romance novels, but this was lying around the house (my mum got it for my sister) and I was bored. I'm giving it two stars for the unintentional hilarity; the plot and characterisation get no stars. (Yes, she'd been kissed before. But she knew the difference between boy and man. It was a man who held her, drew from her. It was a man she wanted. [...:] "You want to make love with me." Her chin came up. Her eyes, all at once, were a woman's, and just as mysterious. If the library was a candy store, this book would be Sprees. At first it is sweet, then tart, I ate up each color like a giddy kid, and then I was left a little ill.

I liked the premise of the story but there are too many cliched plot points and archetypical characters.

I am also left thinking why is it socially acceptable for a woman to lose herself to anger and strike a man, but when a man strikes a woman it is abusive? Isn't this an ugly double standard?

In addition, I sincerely hope that Rob

One of the books that had the pleasure that I took at some point the time to re-read it. Usually I dont have the time to do that, but Nora Roberts is one of the few authors – if not the only one – I am willing to do so from time to time.

It is not only because of the style most of her older novels are written in, but some of them are now reissued and if it is a title I read many years ago, I simply cant resist to get it now and read it again.

It is always a wonderful experience to see how much I

This was a really nice read by Nora Roberts. All of the ocean imagery was done really well on Roberts's part. The details of the ocean life and diving really made me feel like I was a bystander on the boat watching the characters dive for treasure. Nora Roberts, in my opinion, has never had problems immersing the readers in her stories, fully committing to what the characters do. Now I don't know how a professional diver would feel reading this book, but for an unprofessional like myself (actual ...more

This is a fantastic romance novel if you can appreciate the cheesy parts that ultimately make it a masterpiece. Tate Beaumont is a beautiful young marine archaeology student who finds herself on board for an adventure with slightly older dive bomb Matthew Lassiter. The story is largely comprised of romance, suspense and action, as well as a villain so greasy and twisted that you can't look away. All takes place in idyllic tropical climes, under the heat of the Caribbean sun and cool blue depths ...more

I am not going to review every Nora Roberts book that I have read in the past because she is quite prolific and it would get redundant and I honestly cannot remember all the plots. I think someone finds someone else attractive but at least one cannot admit it so there is sexual tension, then lots of sex, and then they live happily ever after? Sometimes there is some magic , a family legacy, or a mystery. Certainly not great works of literature (however still 100% better than “the grapes of wrath ...more

One of the best parts about traveling for me it picking a book to take along. This time around we went to Hawaii, and I was looking for something good to lounge with on the beach. The Reef was it - a perfect beach read. It is a story set in the Pacific, entwined with murder, greed, passion, piracy, a nasty bad guy, cursed amulets, and romance. All of the elements which make for good vacation reading. Tate Beaumont is a marine biologist with a passion for treasure hunting. She and her family form ...more

I’m a Marylander, but I’ve never read a Nora Roberts novel until now. I took this one to Florida with me because it sounded like it would be a great beachside book – and it was.

The close-knit Beaumont family – Tate, her mother and father – are wreck-diving in the Caribbean when they encounter the Lassiters, treasure-hunting Matthew and his uncle, Buck. Sparks fly instantly as the bold, strong-willed personalities of Tate and Matthew clash. An uneasy alliance forms as the two diving teams agree t

This is one of the better Nora Roberts books even though it doesn't get mentioned as much as some others. I'm a sucker for the tropical seas setting (especially in the middle of the winter), there's something romantic about that. This is one of the books where you know who the villain is from the start; the question is, how are they going to deal with him considering how powerful he is. But that's just the backdrop; the main attraction is the relationship between Matthew and Tate which start

I am never a fan of deep-sea diving nor does it interest me to know anything about the world beneath but this book made me see a different world unknown to me and it has given me the most wonderful "deep-sea" adventure ever. Suspense, mystery, romance...all in one. I enjoyed every page! After Morrigan's Cross and now this, Nora Roberts has now become one of my favorite authors.

This is a fantastic book, I think it was the first book that I read of Nora Roberts and it's still a favourite. I love the main characters and how Nora writes it makes the writing leap off the page. I thought that the story had everything you could want, romance, adventure, a bit of a crime/thriller. Set against the Caribbean, just what you need during the winter months.

Over the years I had seen many books with the name Nora Roberts under the title. But The Reef is the first book of her's I had ever read. I always felt too cheesy to actually buy them off of a bookshop. They looked too girlish. This book, along with one other I received as a gift for previous Christmas. Here I am almost after 10 months, finally getting around to read it.

Surprisingly there is a good storyline with an actual story that can retain your interest throughout. There is nothing girly ab

This book had me captivated from the very beginning. Amazing writing skills and the magical world that Nora Roberts sends you to makes this one of my favorite books. Nora Roberts was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. She began writing when a blizzard in February 1979 kept her in her hilltop home with a three and six year old for nearly a week of canceled kindergarten and dwindling chocolate supplies.

During the now-famous blizzard, she pulled out a pencil and notebook and began to write a story for her own entertainment. From the first page, she knew it was wha

“I'm not asking you for a second chance. I know better than that. But you've got no right to ask me to settle for sex then expect me to give up the one thing that's kept me going. I gave you up, now I'm taking what's left.”
“You didn't give me up,” she tossed back. “You never wanted me.”
“I never wanted anything the way I wanted you. I loved you.” He dragged her painfully to her toes. “I've always loved you. I cut my own heart out when I sent you away.”
“You said we've got a new page. I figure I've got some say in what gets written on it. So I'm going to work on you. Last time around, you threw yourself at me.” “I did no such thing.”
“Sure you did. But I can see I've got my work cut out for me this time. That's okay.” He skimmed his thumb over her knuckles before she jerked her hand free. “In fact, I think I'm going to enjoy it.”
“I don't know why I waste my time trying to mend fences with you. You're as arrogant as you ever were.”
“Just the way you like me, sweetheart.”
