I have read quite a few Danielle Steels over the years and this one is a real disappointment plot-wise and character-wise. A couple well in love suddenly fall out of love, nothing to it. This book is pure fiction and fictitious. The author has tried too much and too hard to show that a marriage can break up by simple will of destiny without one of the spouses being necessarily wrong or at least more wrong than the other. All of the characters have been made out to be too likeable. People are fla...more
This book was about 4 times as long as it needed to be for the story, because she basically kept repeating the same 3 facts over and over: Steve and Meredith are happily married and love each other lots. They both work too hard - he as a trauma surgeon, she as an investment banker. He wants a baby, she's not sure. Getting to this point took up the first half of the book, then we discover what happens when she has to move away for a great new job, he gets left behind, and they both meet other peo...more

this is a book about lust, not love!! This book legitimize couple to be unfaithful as long as they were not love each other again.
Typical Danielle Steele blueprint but rather enjoyable. A good quick read "in between" novels.
I didn't like this book. She repeated herself too much.

my feeling about having read this book is similar to the existentialist entropy experienced when i find myself in the checkout line at a grocery store staring at magazine covers. i.e., something in my soul died a little, and i certainly lost a few brain cells.

but what do you do when you're working at a home and desperate to kill time anyway you can and this was the only thing to read.

bad writing. everything spelled correctly, but it was badly proofread, redundant word choices, definitely needed...more
absolute crap. I didnt finish this. If you want to read a book about a woman saying she loved her husband and "Im married" likes its some sort of superfluous label until you feel like peeling it off, this is the book for you. Main girl, Merri thinks shes in love with her husband even though she doesnt want his kids and puts her job first, husband steve is also fooled. Both fall for someone else, cheat on each other...and thats as far as I got. Good luck to other readers, some might actually enjo...more
I noticed this when reading 'BIG Girl' but Danielle Steel takes a long time to get into the actual story because she spends alot of time repeating herself. We know from the back of the book that Meredith and Steve's relationship is going to be in trouble when they end up living in different states but it's almost like Steel doesn't think that her readers are smart enough to remember this so keeps reminding us that Meredith and Steve have an amazing relationship and are really in love, for nearly...more

First of all,I have to say that GR is kind enough to actually give one star for "didn't like it".
Irresistable Forces nearly made me go to sleep.Literally.I'll never read this book again even if you give tons of gold.

Anyway,I'll come to the topic. At first, the book was not so bad.And the way it was written was not so bad either. But the horrible thing was the story.Hate is a strong word,so I'll just say I dislike this book.

This book was extremely mediocre and a waste of my time to read. Many of Danielle Steel's books are engaging, but this one is definitely not a shining example of her best work. The characters are flat and one dimensional. They are all paragons of virtue. Steve and Meredith are honest married people with the purest intentions who never want to hurt another living soul. The book mentions how much they both love each other and how perfect their relationship is many times (to the point of boredom) y...more
This was the 17th Danielle Steel book I've read. It also is the 2nd book in her collection that I just couldn't get through. I didn't mind reading about Steve, I understood him and his job, but Meredith bored me. Maybe it's because I don't really know what an investment banker does, but I found I didn't understand her job. So sorry Danielle, this one was no good.

I decided at age 27 to read my first romance novel. This was it. To be frank, it was a horrible waste of life. If you want to bore yourself to death, read this book. The writing is not interesting, the characters are contrived and the book was about 300 pages too long with a plotline that I could have come up with at age 13.

Danielle Steel é a minha autora favorita!

In Danielle Steel's Irresistible Forces, she told us a heart-warming story about what might fit seem so right, when Fate had other plans for us. For fourteen years, Steve and Meredith Whitman had the perfect marriage--except, they were missing one thing...children. Meredith kept putting it off, claiming she wasn't ready yet, since she became a partner at an investment banking firm in New York. Steve worked at a urban trauma ward as a physician. When there was an opportunity to reach for the bra...more

Hmm. Even though I am not entirely a big fan of reading airport novels, I do, however think if one does not read them they would be left wondering what is good literature. Anyhow, this book.....Irresistible Forces, is in fact, a total trash. As worse as it gets. Now, am I sounding too rude?

Well, if you read the book yourself and give a sincere thought you would be the first one to agree with me. And by the way, this is the second novel by Steel I read. The first one, though, I could not finish....more

Irresistible Forces by Danielle Steel
Meredith and Steve are married and live in NY. He's a trauma ER Doctor and with her career of trading and taking over stocks, making them public keeps them both away from each other more than with each other.
She travels all the time, even overseas and it keeps her very busy. The last public stock she was in charge of was running smoothly.
Cal had 2 teen girls and divorced and was helping her with the transfer. He had taken her out of dinner in London and even...more

The characters were too perfect during most of the book. At times it felt like they were robots. They finally, near the end of the book, showed some of their flaws and some guts to get to what they wanted. Easy read and not one Danielle's best.
Predictable plot..half of the book tells that they were perfect for each others(yes,DS keep repeating this).but then everything went wrong when Merrie moved to San Francisco. All I can say,I don't really enjoy the reading.

the story was fine and interesting in the beginning. there were some conflicts in the middle. but i hate the ending part. i mean, come on, they spend fifteen years living together, and suddenly it was over? haihh.

Typical formulaic Danielle Steele. When you start her books you know the ending by page 25. Only read it because that's all I had to read at the time
This is a story of 2 people in love and married for a long time, who fall out of love with each other. People do drift apart even after years of being with one person. Sometimes you just find someone who is a better fit for you. It's perfectly fine to drift apart and find happiness elsewhere if both of them do the same thing. if u believe in moving on and not holding grudges, this is an OK read, it's tad too long with the initial half, if u get past it you will find it an o.k. read.

It was a good read, kept my interest, but for the most part you knew what was going to happen, but it was a nice relaxing read for sure, definitely repetitive to some extent

Geen aanrader, j...more

Could have been smaller, lot of repetations.

This is about a couple who while they love and support one another grow apart when they give into working across the U.S. from eachother. Both are very successful at what they do, and are both very well shaped and beautiful (this is a danielle steel novel) but they seem to fall into their sperate lifes to eaisly and eventually find equally attractive and successful people, with whom they end up with in the end. Kind of a disapointing story, that is entirely unrealistic.
This is the first Danielle steel book that I have read and I really enjoyed it, it was a good story line and I enjoyed being surprised by what was happening in the book. It was written quite well and it is the kind of book you can read and not expect or predict what is going to happen. Once merrie left to go to California what Cal I enjoyed their relationship with each other and how everything just fell apart from there. It's a good read and I recommend it.
This book was horrible. It was so predictable, you knew as soon as Meredith and Callan met that they would end up being together. The only reason I finished it was because I hate leaving a book unread, but it was so bad. I was hoping for some twist, and I thought I was getting that at the end with Steve, but no.
Dont think I'll ever pick up another Danielle Steel book. It bored me to tears..
Lady Sharmaine
This book doesn't satisfy me. Although I forced myself to finish it. Meridith is quite a stubborn lady who only thinks of herself even though she did care for her ex-husband Steve. till she fell in love with Cal her boss who has a kids. Irrisistable forces tells how can two people seemed to be destined even though they're already tied with another person...
