A killer is loose in Washington D.C. Two young blonde women are found murdered - strangled with an amice, a priest's scarf, and a note attached to the scarf reading "Her sins are forgiven her". With nothing to connect the two women and no leads on the killer the police are feeling the pressure and bring in a psychiatrist, Dr Tess Court, to help put together a profile of the killer.
One of the cops on the case is Detective Ben Paris, a man with a...more
One of Roberts' earlier works -- the difference is obvious. I can say that, while nowhere near as rich as her later romantic suspense, psychological authenticity makes SACRED SINS at least the equal of the...more

Esse livro me surpreendeu...
In the lazy days of summer, a merciless heat wave is the biggest story in Washington, D.C. But the weather is knocked off the front pages when a young woman is found strangled to death. A note left behind reads Her sins are forgiven her.

Mostly, it has to do with Ben Paris. How Tess falls in love with this man is beyond me. He is nothing but horribly rude to her for most of the book, even after sleeping with her. But at the same time her 'he has an illness' take on the killer started to get on my nerves too.

“Sacred Sins” opens with the murder of a young woman, the first in a series of murders. There are a number of characters in this novel, which is the first in series. (I just discovered this fact.) The story involves Detectives Ben Paris, Ed Jackson, Lou Roderick, Lowenstein and Bigsby; Captain Harris Dr. Frank R. Fuller, Father Logan, Dr. Tess Court and many incidental characters, and of course, “The Priest” which is what the media had dubbed the killer.
Many themes run...more
Some sins are unforgivable...
There's no escaping the sizzling heat of the Washington summer ... or the twisted ministry of "The Priest--a madman who is strangling slender, pretty blondes with the white silk scarf of a priest, leaving notes that forgive his victims.
But it's the flame of white-hot passion that is giving Tess Court and Ben Paris real trouble-two professionals who can't quite keep a professional distance from each other.

Book Review: Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts
This book begins well and really comes to life with the entrance of Dr Tess Court a psychiatrist. She is a feisty woman and in command of her job, emotions and personal life. When she is invited to contribute to a serial murder case she immediately clashes with one of the main detectives on the job Ben Paris. Their sparing works well except when they immediately arrange a date after one of their duels. After another duel they end up in bed. I wanted the pa...more
