When I started reading books and ended up losing some of my to-be-read, I always ask my friends for recommendation and usually they give me author's names. I begin collecting Danielle Steel's novels when I was in high school but never have the chance to open them or read them. Although I only read two of her works and I was amazed how fast I can finish her book but not contented in the end. So I keep searching for more authors and collect their works that I nearly forgot that I still have books ...more

I read the book twice within 2 weeks....cried & cried! This story tells about how deep her love to her late husband & to take care 5 young children.Shes a strong lady facing up all the challenges and cope with her future life!

heart warming story about a woman who had lost her husband on christmas' day. I was soaked in tears when i read it. it was heart wrenching to read and felt like enduring her emptiness without her late husband.

when bill entered the picture, her life was seemed like a tinge of fresh air. but the way the writer describe her short-term relationship looked so desperate and from what i saw she was again weakened by it.
The way she asked her (sort of begging him to be with her) was a bit 'turn-off' for

Almost every time I read Danielle Steele, I'm amazed that her books sell as well as they do. Her writing is very unsophisticated (almost juvenile), punctuation is horrible, etc. With as many books as she sells, you'd think she'd have a decent editor! Anyway -- this was a decent enough story, if somewhat predictable. I was bothered by the fact that Liz could fall so in love so quickly with the first guy she meets after her husband's death. I wanted to warn her about that! The book ended rather ar ...more

This book.... Can't think of an appropriate summary.

ALTHOUGH I finished reading the book, it was. very easy to put it down. Even in the middle of a chapter, which isn't something I normally do. I tend to stick my kindle in my bag and try to read at any free moment that I have. The plot is repetitious to many of her novels. At one time, about 15 years ago, I could read her books, maybe 10 different ones then actually go back and read them again. Thurston House, Silent honor, Jewels, The RIng... H

During their eighteen years of marriage, Liz and Jack Sutherland had built a tremendous life together. A close-knit and loving family, a successful law practice, and a warm, happy home somewhere near San Francisco, in a house on Hope Street. The couple truly loved one another and were living the good life - life honestly couldn't be better for the Sutherland family.

However, on a bright, crisp Christmas morning, amid the laughter of children and the joy of the Season, tragedy strikes. In an insta

I am sure that I read this before, although I could not remember just what was going to happen. I was a bit bored by the story. It was so predictable. Maybe she had to whip one out to fulfill a contract or perhaps I have outgrown Steel's work.
Liz and her husband Jack are family law lawyers. He gets killed on Christmas Day by a client's husband. She and their five children are devastated, of course. But they work through it. Then the oldest son gets hurts while fooling around by the swimming pool

This was one of her better books, but its also an oldie. I really enjoyed the main character. She did a great job at writing her like your normal everyday woman. I cried thoughout the book several times, which never happens with me. This book has mixture of romance, touching moments and suspense.

I love love love this book. Amazing book with such a good message. I would read it 100 times over and still love it like the first time I read it.

Liz e Jack Sutherland têm a vida perfeita.

Aliás, o nome do meio deste livro é cliché. Se eu me im

The House on Hope Street, near San Francisco, is the home of the Sutherlands. Liz and Jack Sutherland have been married for 18 years, and are successful lawyers at family law. Their house is teeming with their five children and everyone knows that they are crazy about each other. The author's description of the family and the love between the couple is so magical that everything is so picture perfect. All works out well till Amanda Parker, their client walks into their lives. Jack goes a bit har ...more

Like Johnny Angel, this contemporary romance was another emotional roller coaster novel about love and loss. The Sutherlands was married for eighteen years, built a family on Hope Street, and a successful law firm. But when Jack stepped out for a quick errands, his life was snuffed on Christmas morning from a car accident. This devastated Liz as she consoled her five children on that holiday morning. For Liz, she needed to be both parents to her children, especially with one with Special Needs. ...more

Ending let me down

Ending let me down

I love Danielle Steele and was deeply drawn into this story and it's memorable family. I appreciated all the time taken to develop the storyline and the great characters--then it felt like someone set a timer and said "fast forward to an ending!! It ended much too abruptly and I totally missed Liz and Bill's adjustment toward a new life together. I could totally see a sequel starting where this story left off.

The first two or three chapters were okay. But when I find myself rolling my eyes at the story, it's not good. Touching story, yes. But just too predictable. And Steele always feels the need to repeat herself about things..like we didn't get it the first time we read it. Jamie and Peter were likable. And Victoria. That's about all I can say.

The House on Hope Street by Danielle Steel
Liz and Jack are married and work together at their law firm, handling divorces. They compliment one another in their work and home lifes.
They have 2 older children and a younger boy who is handicapped. One Christmas day Jack heads back to work to handle a domestic case and meets with the ex husband as he shoots his wife and then Jack.
Liz is devastated but manages to keep things going for the kids year after year. One summer Peter-the oldest gets serious

Its purging how Liz and her children get through the ordeal of losing Jack that brutally and on Christmas too. To me, the healing process is the major part of the story and climax. Her falling in love again seems a normal way to end the story. I treasured the heart wrenching healing process.
Thanks DS

Good story about a loving family that has to cope with a HUGE tragedy in their lives. Nice to read about good parents who love each other and their children!! The story is about how they each have to grow and learn how to live after the loss.

Had read ages ago but just reread - sad

Expected to hate it, but actually enjoyed it. Rather short story that takes almost no time to read. Expect to shed a few tears along the way, but a happy ending to cheer you up.
