3.5 STARS. Nothing particularly memorable here but it's a very fun, boisterous and colorful alphabet book. I like the variety of animals included, and some of the things chosen to represent the letters are unusual and fun. In addition to the main animal/object highlighted (like the Kangaroo for "K") there are other animals and objects with the same letter for kids to try to find (there's a list in the back to help if they are stumped).
I loved this picture book! It can be used very well for younger aged children to help them learn words that start with each letter of the alphabet. The illustrations are also perfect and students can come up to the book and point out certain animals and objects. This book also introduces rhyming and could tie into useful poetry themes such as alliteration. Please check this book out if you have not already!
This book is good for chldren who need help with beginning letter sounds. Especually ELL students. It can be used for 1st and 2nd grade readers.
Extend: Have children create their own alphabet book similar to this one. They can creat thier own pictures or use magazine cutouts.

Kids think this book is funny, and there's a lot for them to see. Probably better for one or two kids at a time than a whole group, as they'll want to linger over the pictures to find everything that starts with each letter of the alphabet.

Whew! I’m relieved I liked this so much. I took one look at the cover and wasn’t impressed, but decided to try it anyway. For some reason, the illustrations, which I had to admit were on the garish side, were very appealing to me. They’re colorful and there’s a lot (but not too much) on every page, and most of all, the expressions on all the animals’ faces are just so cute. I like the rhyme that continues from page to page, even though this is not a storybook. And, I loved how there is more than...more
