Possible minor spoilers if you haven't read the first book and if any of my random ramblings turn out to be true...
At the beginning of the book, we join Mac just after she finds out that she was adopted. Immediately, she begins to act like her parents just dropped off the face of the earth, and she starts referring to her sister as her only real family. Her attitude instantly turned ungrateful. Yes, she was just being a drama queen, but I know for a fact that you can love someone who More...

I don't like Mac. I don't like Barrons. I'm not even really enjoying the story. So why keep reading, you might ask. Masochism? Some vague sense of loyalty toward friends on here who constantly berate me with, "Keep reading, it gets better!!!" Or, is it really just my obsessive compulsive NEED to see how something ends? Probably a little of all three.

First I want to thank Kat for recommending this series to me. So far it's been exceeding my expectations and I hope it will continue doing so.
In this installment MacKayla Lane continues her search for Sinsar Dubh, a power Unseelie artifact containing the deadliest Fae magic. She is recovering from the ordeal she experienced at the end of the previous book and at the same time has to face the aftermath of her actions - Inspector O'Daffy is getting very interested in finding out more ab More...

Ok ok… I'm starting to get it. This second instalment was Much better than the first. It has lots of action and with all the mayhem it gets pretty hard to put down. The mystery, though, is still there picking away at my brain cells. We got no real answers in this one, especially from Barrons. Only more questions. Which ended up being ok because the book is fully loaded and it couldn't possibly all fit in here. Plus the anticipation is kind of fun.

Hmm, well, yes, four stars.
Bitches.
I wanted to come in and say that the writing has improved, but I'm pretty sure it's not that, exactly. Moning continues to do things that frustrate me, the prologue being the worst of her sins, imao. The prologue here is as least partially justifiable, given that it's the second book in the series, and recap may be in order. (Although, seriously, why would you pick up this series in the middle? Assume we read book one and go on.) The pro More...

Lost weekend.
I read this in a few hours, the same way I read the first book, the same way I read the next, and the next... I picked the book up, opened it, and looked up several hours later. I resented every interruption. I thought about canceling plans with friends so I could stay home and read. I skipped meals. I ignored the internet. I didn't sleep.

Yeah, okay, I'm offically hooked. I stayed up until late last night to finish reading this book, and even then I was tempted to start reading the next book. I'm glad I didn't, or I wouldn't have made it to work this morning.
Well, what can I say about this book... I could fangirl (my default mode ever since I started reading these books), or I could swoon over Barrons (that pretty much takes up 98% of my day already). I just don't know. I feel like singing. For those who don't know me More...

re-read 2011: still a five star book for me :)
Original Review 2010: Oh. My. This novel epitomizes why I love urban fantasy. Reading it was like a form of literary cocaine to me. I'm as bad as an addict. EEK!
I actually had the paperback sitting in front of me, but I chose to listen to the audiobook instead of reading it --- even though I could have read it much faster myself. The reader on the audiobooks does an awesome job with the accents and voices for all the dif More...

Why does this stuff have to be so addicting??? I should be reading the books I already have, and not buy new ones! But I just can't help myself ...
What the hell is it that makes this series so addicting? I mean, I have read quite some Urban Fantasy series and although I liked a lot of those – sometimes even more than the Fever books – none of them are that addicting to me. I’m perfectly fine with reading at a normal pace and I don’t even have problems waiting for the next instalment to More...

CAUTION: This review contains minor spoilers and some spoilery quotes at the end.
More often times than not, sequels are either a hit or a miss, and I'm happy to report that, for me, this one was a definite hit.
Bloodfever starts off slow and steady, letting you get back into the story of MacKayla Lane and the enigmatic Jericho Barrons, a man who's not only more mysterious than he is trustworthy, but who's Mac's mentor and only protector without an alterior motive (at least More...

Are you freaking kidding me? I can not believe this author. I swear she types using only her steel plated balls. That's right. I bet she is banging away on her keyboard with a pair of hairy larrys. This book is fearless. I really would love to be in the room when she just said, " the hell with it, My main character is going to just face everything, all the time and be solid awesome throughout." her awesome sauce is so thick you could pave a road with it. This is my kind of book. I'm no

Holy Shit! This is just getting better and better!
Still on the search for the ancient magical book- the Sinsar Dubh, Mac and Barrons, a very unlikely team, find ways to overcome
there...disagreements and unit as 'detector and director'.
The plot is fast paced and gripping as hell. It's dark and dangerous and distrubing.
I gotta say, I am loving Mac and Barrons!! Yes she's a rainbowed covered barbie and he's such a jackass, but they work. True, they have one of the most More...

I have no words to say how good this series is.
If you enjoy UF and Paranormal romance (not that it has much romance in it but what it has is awesome...) you'll love this series.
It became one of my faves since I started it, but after reading the 2nd book in the series I have to say that it is on my top faves. I love everything about this new world Moning has created, and I absolubtely recommend this serie.

This series is like craic to me.
Or this series is so full of craic it is pouring out its petunia.
Er, is craic a noun or an adjective?
Either way, <3

Reread in January 2011
Reading this book a second time in preparation for Shadowfever.
Once again, the reread is so much better than the first reading! It is really a lot of fun to look for all the clues in this series. Who/What is Barrons? Who is the Lord Master? Why does everyone want the Sinsar Dubh?
Mac has been in Ireland for a little more than a month now and so much has happened to her. I am really liking how her character has evolved. I am beginning to belie More...

I liked this one better than the first.
What worked:
There's less "this is what Barbie is wearing today" junk going on.
The building tension between the two main characters.
A trip to the beach
Description of the rabbit
Some fun word combos - I reread a couple sentences because I liked them. That makes me happy.
What was clunky:
Regarding the beach trip - The exchange rate on time isn't something I can think too much about without it More...

Another amazing read by Karen Marie Moning. I love this series! My bff and I are reading it together and we can't get enough! I actually downloaded the Kindle app on my pc at work so I could get my fix during breaks. *lol
Mac is definitely maturing as the series progresses. I love Barrons and can't wait to find out "what" or "who" he is - although I have a pretty good guess. V'Lane has definitely grown on me more in this book but I still wouldn't trade Barrons fo More...

Once again, I was blown away with the vivid description, characterization, and intrinsic world building that exists within the fever series. It is a nerve wracking, emotional roller coaster of a series.
I’ve got to hand it to Moning, she is a master at revealing everything and nothing at the same time. None of the questions raised in Darkfever are answered in this installment, and yet light is shed on a few things. Sadly, this light only illuminates all new questions we hadn’t though More...

I finally am starting to get it.......I am not an alien after all
I was quite reluctant to begin reading Bloodfever. I really only enjoyed about 50 pages of Darkfever; needless to say it was not a good start to a series. I generally won’t buy the next book in a series until I am certain I want to proceed and truly was not going to read book two. There is no need to torture myself. I read for pleasure, an escape it is my own personal oasis. More...

Bloodfever is the second book in Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. It is your typical second book in an Urban Fantasy series. Book one usually sets up the world and its players. Book two is typically a transition book. The book that reminds us of how the world works in the series, shows us how the hero or heroine has developed from book one and guides the reader in the direction that the series is ultimately going to take her. Yes, Bloodfever is your classic book two, but with Karen’s tale

Book review:
Overall, I'm a little confused. Part of this is because I'm trying to listen to it at work, and surprisingly enough, work does occasionally require my brain to focus, and I'm missing stuff. But I think mostly it's because there's no real coherent storyline. There's sort of an "ultimate goal" looming in the background, but mostly Mac and Jericho are just getting themselves into little (or big) messes and then trying to get out of them again. I'm not sure they've made a More...

No longer the spoiled rich girl.
MacKayla has more questions than answers. And every time she asks questions, some are ignored, evaded, or answered, but not directly. Mac is getting frustrated. She doesn’t know who to trust, unsure of where to turn. She wants answers desperately and is doing anything she can to find them.

Bloodfever is the second book in the Fever series and I'm proud to say: I still don't hate Mac. Yes, she likes to make things harder on her self, yes she can be extremely self centered (I was shocked to see she was hardly affected by the death of <spoiler>O'Duffy</spoiler> and found the subsequent police interrogation to be both harassing and boring) and yes she describes herself as 'pretty' a little too often... but Moning's writing style makes up for it. It's engaging, smart and fu

In this second book of the Fever series, Mac Lane continues to fight the Fae foes of mankind, and uncovers some secrets about herself along the way. Still fighting alongside, and often times with, Jericho Barrons, Mac does battle against a "vampire" and learns first-hand some of the power of the Fae. Special guest appearances by a few characters from Moning's Highlander series.
I liked this book even more than the first. It's a bit darker, a bit edgier, and even somewhat bet More...

After what seemed a fumbling start in the Fever series, Karen Marie Moning seems to have found her footing with Bloodfever.
Unlike the first book in the series, Darkfever, this book has quick pacing and direction. The characters this go around are more defined, interesting and likable, thereby making you want to turn the page. There are still many unanswered questions, but what would a good fantasy series be if all the questions were answered in the first two books?

In Bloodfever, the second installment in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, our heroine Mac discovers there's a little bit more to being a sidhe-seer then just being a person with the ability to see the beautiful and horrible otherworldly beings who are invading our realm once again. (Fae creatures far more fierce than the little winged pixie's most people think of when picturing faeries.)
Apparently she's not the only sidhe-seer around and there's a whole myth and sub culture surr More...

this was a 3.5star effort. I guess I haven't caught the Fever yet. But I am trying so I will keep plowing through the series.
This story had more action than book 1, Darkfever, but we are still trying to get to the Dark lord and we are still trying to figure out the players in the game for the Sinsar Dubh. First who and what is Jerricho Barrons? Second, who and what is Mackayla Lane? Sure we know she is sidhe-seer, but what are her extra special powers. I feel like we have only seen More...
