Opening line: "B.J Chase had worn her black tank top and khaki shorts for too many hours to count in the Venezuelan climate, where the heat and humidity were often measured in terms of ripe, riper and for God's sake, take a shower."

FEEL THE HEAT is the forth instalment in Cindy Gerard’s fast paced and super-sexy Black-Ops series and fans won’t be disappointed. This is yet another great ride, filled with action, adventure, exotic locations, sweet lovin and top notch writing. Although for some re...more

Another winner in Cindy Gerard's excellent, butt-kicking Black Ops series. I don't know how she does it, but CG manages to offer up a different action-packed story every time for each of her Black Ops characters, but always pairs them with a strong, capable, sexy woman who can hold their own with these charismatic alphas. This was handsome Latino Raphael("Choirboy") Mendoza's story, and it's a good one.

Rafe has a heartbreaking childhood which he manages to overcome by enlisting in the military,...more

H/h: Raphael "Rafe" Mendoza/BJ Chase
All the boys of the BOI team, and a nice little surprise, two people get together and I would not have guessed that was coming.
Where: The Washington DC area and Venezuela

Feel the Heat was not my favorite in this series for several reasons but the number one reason was that I simply could not relate to BJ. She was just too hard core for me. I've known a few women like that and frankly I can't picture them ever changing so it was hard for me to see hope for her...more

I felt the heat! And the emotion. I'm really enjoying the Black Ops series by Cindy Gerard (thanks for the recommendation, Buggy!) Each setting and story is unique and compelling.

This time the main character is a woman (BJ) so hurt by the past that she's terrified of falling in love. Typically that's a role reserved for a man, and it was refreshing to read this gender twist. BJ works as a U.S. Defense Intelligence officer whose sting gets interrupted by a group of BOIs. Quite an auspicious meet...more

Fourth in the Black Ops, Inc. romantic suspense series revolving around the BOIs and their futures. The primary couple focus is on Raphael "Choirboy" Mendoza and B.J. Chase with a secondary focus on Stephanie Tompkins and Mean Joe Green.

My Take
This was cute. A totally reluctant woman pushing the hunky Rafe away. Guns and bombs? Bring it on. Possible relationship? Watch her run like hell! Then there's the treat of a pair of women foiling the bad guys and doing it well.

Too cute when Raphael meets...more

"Feel The Heat", Cindy Gerard's fourth book in her "Black Ops, Inc." series, unfortunately left me more lukewarm than hot. Pity, because I was so looking forward to Rafael "Choirboy" Mendoza'a story. But this one took a major detour from where I thought it was headed...

From hints in past books, I thought Rafe was finally going to tell Stephanie (his fallen comrade's sister) that he loved her...and I was really looking forward to it. But -- back-the-truck-up! -- he quickly changed his mind and, w...more

Amazing! The places Ms Gerard takes us with this series, and the terrifying plots she comes up with are nothing short of breathtaking.

When the threat of an E-Bomb in terrorist hands and a plan to attack the US surfaces, DIA Agent B.J. Chase (her name gave me serious giggle fits and when Raphael alludes to the obvious, I snorted my coffee) is ordered to shadow and protect Stephanie Tompkins, an NSA cryptologist. When Stephanie is nearly killed, B.J. is forced to team up with the BOIs and she fin...more

WOW -- There was so much for ME in this entry of the Black Ops, Inc series. My only regret is that I was so tardy to the BOI party.

Alpha males; a take no prisioners female; spies; betrayal; battles; romance; treachery; international intrigue; a plausible plot; charismatic characters and vivid writing. Let's not forget a train; a little levity via clever banter; affectionate, sensuous & intimate exchanges that feel natural. If any of those things appeal to you - this may be a great diversion...more

Too predictable. The conflicts worked out too easily and smoothly. Character combinations not different enough.

STORY BRIEF:
BJ has hurts from her past – mostly due to an alcoholic mother. She has no friends or love relationships, and she doesn’t want any. She is a field agent for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). There has been a leak inside the NSA. Stephanie works for the NSA as a cryptanalyst. BJ is assigned to work with Stephanie to help discover the source of the leak. Stephanie uncover...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I went into it not even really wanting to read it, mostly because I had no real grasp of Raphael's character, and B.J. is the type of heroine who really turns me off of a story: cold, unemotional, closed-off, tough. In the book she practically makes fun of Stephanie because she is the type of woman that men want to play white knight for... and that's usually MY kind of heroine. I did warm up to B.J., though, simply because she was so vulnerable and so com...more

Another Big Hit!!!

Cindy Gerard amazes me, I was taken on another wild fun sexy ride!

Raphael and the Black Ops team and DIA Agent B.J have to stop the bad guys. And to do that Raphael has to go back to his roots and deal with old family ghosts and issues. The beginning was hard for me to follow honestly, and i started skimming paragraphs. The it started to get fun, exciting and steamy! B.J. kinda got on my nerves, she appeared standoffish and bitchy, not just with him but everyone. You eventually...more

The fourth book in the Black Ops series. Loved the H/h in this one. Rafe (Raphael) Mendoza and B.J. Chase both were strong characters and easy to like. Though B.J. had her moments I felt she had to be cold and detached to properly do her job. Fast pace and a satisfying addition to the series. Highly recommend!

This was one of my favorites in the series. Rafael Mendoza, a hot Columbian member of Black Ops, Inc. meets B.J., a US government agent, when they run into each other while running the same operation. They reunite when B.J. must cooperate on a Black Ops mission to foil a terrorist plot to disable the U.S electrical grid through a new weapon.
The greatest things about this book were the chemistry between the leads (a Cindy Gerard strong-suit) and the action which is always intense. Cindy writes g...more

Definitely a read for those involved in the Black Ops, Inc. Series that Cindy Gerard has written. Although, this is the 3rd book I've read in the series, I think I'm becoming a little bored with the topic, or perhaps it is because everybook appears the same for me. I will finish all the books in the series, but for me it seems a little stale during the series. Not enough grit, and story-line to chew on for me. Just because I gave it a 3 doesn't mean you shouldn't read it, it was still a good boo...more

While the action seems to be toned down a notch, the other parts of this story were still entertaining.
The Joneses were back! And I even more love Gabe & Jenna on their second appearance here. It's always fun to see their updates.

Love the secondary romance between...emmm... nope! No spoiler here ^..^

As much as I love Rafe, I don't think I can say the same thing for B.J
The way she keeps people around her an arms length away is childish, also the little drama in the end is wayyy so lame.

Overall this was a pretty good book. However, I didn't feel there was enough action. At times Feel the Heat was almost boring.

I also didn't connect with either of the main characters; I just didn't feel the love.

B.J. Chase: Some thought she was cold hearted, but I didn't think so. She built up a wall to protect herself and she had some trust issues. (Who doesn't?) Add that to the fact that she works in a mans world... Well she had to be he best that she could be. She also had a tough time growin...more

I loved Crystal in the previous book Whisper No Lies because she’s kick-ass! And now another kick-ass female makes a appearance in the series. B.J. Chase is a Defense Intelligence Agency officer sent on personal leave after blowing a mission in Venezuela. After a few days she’s summoned from personal leave to investigate an alarming national security breach. What she wasn’t prepared for was her investigation involving Raphael ‘Choirboy’ Mendoza. The man who was the reason for blowing the Venezue...more

If you enjoy red-hot romance, action-adventure, terrifying scenes that involve CIA, NSA,terrorists and modern-day weapondry (frag granades, Glocks etc.) as well as Big Bad Sexy Black-Ops characters, then anything written by Cindy Gerard is a great choice. I am never disappointed by Ms. Gerard's novels since they provide an entertaining "kick-ass" read from start to finish!!!! A Great read! I am smashing through this series nearly as fast as I did for Lorelei James Rough Riders Series.

I'm averaging one book a day!
This was about Mendoza and B.J also a bit of Stepahnie and Joe.

I liked:
the storyline.
the suspense.
the guilt
the hurt
the wondering
the action
the laughs
even Brittany!
But to be honest not enough "steam" and I didn't really like BJ.. She just wasn't like the rest of the BOI's women. I warmed to her by the end of the book, but she's no Crystal, Jenna or Abbie!

As much as I like Gerard's writing style, the characters seemed a little flat to me. I was much more interested in the secondary characters than I was in the protagonists. B.J.'s undercover persona was funny, the infiltration of the warehouse was worthy of a Jerry Bruckheimer film, and the threat of the EMP (which is a pretty damn scary thing) was a nice alternative to the over-used threats of nukes, suicide bombers, and epidemics. Other than that, though, I wasn't really feeling the book. Glad...more

"Spectacular" Feel The Heat is book 4 in the Black Op series and believe me, you will absolutely love this story. Cindy's style of writing without a doubt is masterful. How she can take a story and write so that the reader has such vivid imagery of the characters, the scenery, the story unfolding, truly is a work of art. Feel the Heat is filled with suspense, action, romance and sigh one delicious drop dead gorgious hunk. There are even scenes that will pull at your heartstrings. Yup, the series...more

Gerad's BOI series fills a void in my reading life due to the fact that my goddess, Suzanne Brockmann, can only write so fast. Gerad's books have a lot of similarities to offer, and in this, this second book that I've read in the series, I was able to push past them to enjoy Gerad's story in its own right. I love the interaction between the guys and would like to see more of that! I like that the action/romance is nicely balanced. BJ's own personal story arc gets nearly as much play as the roman...more

February - 3.5 - ok, but the plot reminded me of so many other books I've read - felt like I've read this before, from the heroine's mystery 'initial' name (and really, what woman would allow herself to go by the initials BJ?) which I read in an Erin McCarthy short story (CJ) and also in a Cherry Adair (AJ) to the South American good guy w/familial ties to bad guys to...I don't know, just it all seemed kinda "been there, done that." But - love the BOIs just the same and looking forward to pickin...more

I am a SUCKER for a man with an accent. Being an Aussie - I'm not turned on by the slang of Australian males AT ALL, so hearing the soft, sweet words of a sexy Columbian vibrate through my mind just makes me growl.

Did I 'feel the heat'? Oh yeah! I felt the heat all the way to my bones.

This story was a little different from Cindy's other Black Op books. This novel wasn't entirely focused on the connection between B.J & Rafe - it also focused quite a bit on the growing sexual tension between...more

Cindy Gerard continues her stellar Black Ops series with Raphael Mendoza’s book, FEEL THE HEAT. Taking a different but still interesting route this time, the author sets the first part of the book in Washington, D.C. where B.J Chase, an Defense Intelligence officer gets caught up in case where a stolen E-bomb is floating around in the world. This E-bomb has the ability to take down all electronics in half the country permanently. No cars, internet, gas pumps ever agai...more

It's been awhile since I visited the boys of Black Ops and it only took a page or two before I wondered how I could have been so remiss! Ms Gerard is the consummate author if one wants well-written suspense. It is obvious she takes time to research and acquaint herself thoroughly with whatever subject she is tackling whether that of terrorists tactics, drug cartels, military munitions or any one of the vast and varied subjects we, as readers, get to learn about in each of her novels. The genius...more

The only thing Cindy had in mind when she started writing her first book was finishing it. The issue of actually selling it came much later. Only after she made that life-altering first sale did she realize that one book would never be enough. Now, over 20 books and numerous awards later, Cindy laughingly admits that she can barely remember life before...well, was there life before writing?
