This one was a little slow in the beginning, but it got much better at the end. I enjoyed all the little surprises that Keri Arthur threw in regarding Riley. The Riley Jensen series has been one of my favorites for a while. Unfortunately, the last few novels haven't wowed me. It's feels like Riley is talking about the same issues in every novel. This is another six star, if not seven star book. Keri Arthur is easily one of my top five favorite authors, maybe even in the top three. Hers is the one universe I want to live most in. This series seems to be getting better and better. Unfortunately, the plot still kind of sucks. Some things just don't make sense - you don't kill everyone to keep the authorities from knowing you're breaking the law. Murder is the worst crime, you don't use it to cover up lesser crimes. Pretty ok addition to the series. Not as good as the last two books but for different reasons than the first four. I like to see Riley growing as a character, doing things like wearing sneakers to work instead of stilettos and trying to be--for the most part--a one man gal. So the main case Riley is working on is zombies! Someone is raising zombies and killing vampires, and Riley and her directorate team are trying to catch them, which of course involves undercover work at strip bar, and working around the interfering killer-for-hire Kye, while wondering what this new awareness is between them.

Riley Jensen's escapades are always a good read. Who would have ever thought that she would be paired up with a werewolf that is so outside her idea of home and hearth? I believe that she is fortunate to have to halves that allow for a shared identifier in soul mates. Aaah how I've looked forward to reading this book.
And it did not disappoint for the most part.

There's someone brutally killing vampires and another set of murders where young women are being killed. Both have suggestions of dark magic and the second set of murders is what brings Riley in contact with Kye Murphy. Again.

Well book 7 didn't disappoint. Riley and Quinn are doing great. He is being the perfect guy. But Riley has a nasty case of sorcerer's killing old vampires and having zombies killing young girls. For me, this book was a solid 4 stars. I've given four stars to all the books in the series, but sometimes I think I was being generous. So far, I haven't read the five star book in this series. This series is addictive; Deadly Desire being the seventh installment. I was happy that Keri returned to this series after her foray into her new other mythological creatures series, which is good but not as strong in my opinion. The Riley Jensen stories have strong and likable characters, fun use of paranormal and mythological quirks tied into the plots and just the right combination of trash, story and humour.
