This anthology belongs to the three-volume set of The Longman Anthology of British Literature (Volumes 2A, 2B, 2C). Each volume contains gorgeous color plates of contemporary artwork and portraits. A wonderful anthology! I thought the wide array of selections were great and informative! I especially liked the "responses to" section after most of the major works. Dettmar and Wicke do a wonderful job of introducing not only the authors and their own personal background, but also the cultural context surrounding the time period. This helped me place each text in a cultural context as well as analyze the different societal factors that played a role in the work.
