I think that “Sanctuary Unbound” the fourth book in the Red Rock Pass series by Moira Rogers is my favorite in this series. I’ve told in my reviews of the previous books that this paranormal romance series isn’t a common one. A dark world-building and tormented characters manage to create a unique story.

I just finished reading this book, and wow, just, wow! I've read the previous three books in this series and enjoyed them very much; Sanctuary Unbound, Book 4 in the Red Rock Pass series is my new favorite.

As the book opens, Cindy Shepherd is taking care of the pack Alpha, Gavin, who's just had his 3rd heart attack. Gavin knows he's sick, and he's waiting for Keith to come back from Bedagi Creek, where he's wrapped up events from book three and is on his way home to Red Rock - and he's bringing...more I just finished reading this book, and wow, just, wow! I've read the previous three books in this series and enjoyed them very much; Sanctuary Unbound, Book 4 in the Red Rock Pass series is my new favorite.

As the book opens, Cindy Shepherd is taking care of the pack Alpha, Gavin, who's just had his 3rd heart attack. Gavin knows he's sick, and he's waiting for Keith to come back from Bedagi Creek, where he's wrapped up events from book three and is on his way home to Red Rock - and he's bringing a vampire. Cindy is the Pack doctor. We met her in the previous books but don't know much about her except that she was Dylan's ex-girlfriend in Sanctuary's Price.

Adam Dubois is the infamous flannel-wearing lumberjack vampire I've been hearing so much about. We met him in Sanctuary's Price, where he helped Dylan and Joe overcome a sadistic vampire who almost killed that local pack. He's come to Red Rock to help his old friend Gavin protect his pack from another threat.

Events from book 3 have led to an eventual showdown with another vampire who's stealing werewolf magic to try to take over Red Rock. With the help of Sasha, their resident witch (and heroine from book 3), Adam is going to try to save Red Rock.

I loved this book! From the opening scene, things were all action: There are some shifts in the pack heiarchy, and changes are coming in future books that I think will break my heart. Our heroes/heroines from the previous books are all present and very busy - Gavin and Sam are dealing with their own issues as well as trying to keep the pack safe. Keith has recovered, and he and Abby, along with Dylan and Sasha, are busy helping prepare for the attack. Joe and Brynn are still dealing with Brynn's wolfy issues.

Cindy and Adam have a chemistry that is undeniable. As soon as Adam pulls into town and sees Cindy, he knows he's in trouble. There's instant attraction on both sides, but they both fight it; they each have difficult histories but become closer as they decide to trust each other and talk out their issues. At first they agreed to get together because they were both lonely and attracted to each other but gradually realized they had so much more than just lust in common. They talked and shared and grew into so much more than bedmates. There was a scene at the end of the fight scene that had me holding my breath - Adam's love for Cindy is almost overwhelming.

The fight scene - oh, the fight scene! Moira Rogers wrote the hell out of the fight scene - I could visualize the whole thing in my mind's eye from start to finish. Cindy is definitely not a shrinking violet, and this flannel-wearing vampire was both glorious and terrifying in action. The two of them together are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I give Sanctuary Unbound 4 1/2 stars!

Upon arrival to Red Rock Pass the lovely pack doctor Cindy Shepherd immediately catches Adam’s eye much to the annoyance of the very protective Gavin as well as the other alphas in the pack. The interest seems to be mutual though, and Adam and Cindy waste no time exploring their attraction to each other. Before they know it, the flirting and physical relationship begins to deepen into something much stronger. But the moment of reckoning has arrived and Adam and Cindy, along with the rest of the pack must stand together to defend their way of life and secure for the future for the Red Rock pack as well as for neighboring packs suffering under the rule of ruthless Alphas.

I’ve always loved the Red Rock werewolves and I admit I was intrigued by the introduction of a sexy vampire into the mix. In Moira Rogers’ world of werewolves, vampires are not to be trusted and I wondered how Adam Dubois would charm his way into good graces of the pack. He did it Adam style of course. He bagged the sexy blonde, tossed a bit of bravado around the place and put out a ‘don’t mess with me or I’ll bite your ass for breakfast’ attitude—respectfully of course. Then he opened up a big ol’ can of whoop ass on some big time evil. Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about.

Our doc Cindy is no pushover either. She’s smart, tough, and can hold her own with the broody, abrasive vampire. When push comes to shove in the bedroom or battle field, Cindy is right there, every bit Adams equal. She can give an old vampire a run for his money no doubt about that. And although they are an unlikely couple, that doesn’t deter Cindy in the least when it comes to standing by her man…err vamp.

Sanctuary Unbound boasts one the the best action scenes in the entire series. The confrontation between Adam and the ‘evil one’ that threatens the entire Red Rock way of life is intense, bloody and thick with magic. Although I know I’m pretty much guaranteed a happily ever after in a book like this, I admit I had my moments when I thought things could take a turn for the worse. And they might have…you’ll have to read the book and see. *g* I very much enjoyed this installment in the Red Rock Pass series.

In case you haven’t heard, Moira Rogers has penned a spin off series based in the same universe as the Red Rock Pass series called Building Sanctuary. It’s a step back in time to 1933 where it all began. Adam Dubois was there back in the day and in he offers a little introduction to the origins of Sanctuary when the werewolves first turned their back on the corruption plaguing their society. I look forward to this new—or old, depending on how you look at it—take on the Sanctuary Universe. (less)

Adam has a little bit of knowledge with how to fight this kind of power, and teams up with local wolf doctor Cindy to do everything he can to help out.

Cindy and Adam’s instant attraction throws them both a little off guard, but with them both being a little lonely, they decide to not fight it and take a chance on each other. They both must take a hard look into their pasts, and overcome some dark times before they are comfortable moving on and starting over together.

Being the huge fangirl that I am of Moira Rogers, I’m totally addicted to all their series! I enjoyed watching the characters of Red Rocks really coming together to defeat this latest enemy. I hated seeing Gavin, the awesomesauce alpha, getting to an older stage, but loved Keith stepping up and taking over.

I loved Adam, I thought he was such a great hero. Our poor vampire lumberjack did a great job at playing the reluctant hero, and the poor guy had a real warped view of his good deeds in life. I just wanted to give him a big hug, pat his back reassuringly, and sing his praises throughout.

I wish I could say that Sanctuary Unbound was my favorite, (because really… vampire lumberjack, what’s not to love?) but unfortunately, for me, this book didn’t live up to the first few. Maybe it’s because I was never a fan of Cindy, although she really did do a lot to redeem herself in my eyes this book.

To me, if felt like this book was the end of the series, and I know that there are currently no additional books in the works for our current Red Rocks characters. I am looking forward to The Building Sanctuary Series, featuring Seamus and Joan, who were featured throughout.

All in all, I give Sanctuary Unbound 3.5 our of 5 Vampire Lumberjacks!(less)

Who knew that a vampire lumberjack can be sexy as hell? Apparently Cindy does as she gets the fever for vampire Adam when he rolls into Red Rock to help out his old buddy Gavin.

I loved this book because Sanctuary Unbound was more focused on the main couple and their budding relationship and not on the werewolf politics. This was an enjoyable story, and we get followup from A Safe Harbor as vampire Adam Dubois leaves main and comes to Red Rock Pass to help.

Cindy is the werewolf doctor in Red Rock, and she's lonely. She's immediately attracted to Adam, and he to her. Since Adam plans to leave after the war is won, both know this isn't a long term thing but agree to be together while he's in town. Only of course things don't stay that way.

Ok so I know I said that Joe is my favourite, but Adam has just topped him by a mile.
I loved that from the very beginning we get to see some of his great sence of humour. It made me laugh when he was trying to hard to drive the 'modern car' and was failing pretty miserably.
Cindy is another strong wolf and her personality is more than a match for Adam.
It was really sad to learn that this war has been taking a massive toll on Gavin, their Alpha. I think it has been very easy to forget that...more

Keith is back in town and he has brought one of Gavin's oldest friends with him, a vampire. The first time he sees Cindy he is drawn to her, as she is to him. She thinks they can have a casual relationship but soon learns that the heart wants what the heart wants.

Both Cindy and Adam are perfect for each other. They are both hurt and carrying demons that will destroy them if they don't find a way to heal. Adam is afraid of failure after what happened with his old pack while Cindy is afraid of being loved because of her past.

The Red Rock pack are in danger of losing their territory to a vampire that is controlling another pack. Can the big, bad lumberjack vampire save them? Definitely with the help of a local pack, a witch and Cindy. During the fight scene, you felt like you were right there with them. I was definitely rooting for Adam and Cindy when he took on the vampire.

I love that Cindy is a strong capable woman who realizes that her past has made her who she is. She's not someone that is willing to stand by and let everyone else take care of her. There are many appealing characters and I was touched with Sam's softer side we saw as she cared for Gavin.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that the book ended. I adore this series and hope there are more to come. It's a very fast read with just the right amount of action to offset the romance. I love this book and give it 4 flaming hearts.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series at Red Rock Pass, it had a mixture of everything warewolfs & vampires, it was rude, but with a good amount of story chucked in, I enjoyed the plots ofeachbook and how they all carried on through each of the four books andbythe end book all of the charactors that we readabout in the beginning come together.
If you enjoy Moira Rogers style of writing I would recommend these 4 books.

3.5 Stars. This was a decent entry in the series. The romance happened a bit too quickly for me, but the notion of a werewolf doctor having an affair with a lumberjack vampire was cute. The story is going in a different direction now, but this book continues to develop the characters.

Adam is a lumberjack vampire who has and still does care for werewolves. He's a recluse. He broods. He's sexy as hell, and dang, is this my favorite story in the series. SO much happens with the entire pack even though the focus is on Adam and Cindy. It's full of action, suspense, romance and emotion.

Cindy and Adam were fabulous together. I loved the way they balanced each other - the Vampire Lumberjack and the Doctor Werewolf. Each had scars from things in their past, and each really helped the other overcome some of the pain and grief brought on by those. I especially liked that both were strong despite having suffered so much in the past. Neither of them need to be rescued, only healed.
