I love these MacKenzies! This can be read as a stand alone but if you've read the series, especially the first, Devil In A Kilt, you will appreciate Duncan, Linnet, and Marmaduke's appearances. Arabella is wanting to find her one true love and her father keeps running off all the available men so she takes matters into her own hands. She finds her soul mate in none other than Darroc MacConacher, the chieftain of her families last rival clan. He is determined to bring honor back to his clan and i...more

Seriously ... what was the book about ??
A mythical story ?? Love caused by magic ?? Pirates ??
okay ... I could have skipped all those things , if there had been steady progress of characters in the story ...& On the top of that the writing ....Does she do this intentional , make the reading part for readers so difficult that they lose the interest completely ... My sister had great reviews about this one , she is rarely wrong . Its because of her suggestion I started reading historical roma

Arabella is not like her other sister, who is bold and daring when it comes to men or even going after what she wants. Arabella has more of a gentle nature, compassionate, and seeks to please her parents, whom she loves dearly. But she is desperate to go to a island, which belongs to her, and visit a shrine there so that she can make a wish, a plea to find a man to love and cherish and to have a family with. With a absurdly over protective father, she knows it will be near impossible to find a h...more

I was asked to read and review A Highlander’s Temptation by Sue-Ellen Welfonder. The story is set in 14th century Scotland, a time when hostilities were high among the various Highland clans. The heroine of the story is the young and beautiful Arabella MacKenzie, daughter of the chief of clan MacKenzie. While on a sea voyage to a set of islands, Arabella I forced to abandon ship. The following day, she is found offshore of an island owned by the clan MacConacher. Darroc, the hero of the story, i...more

I haven’t read a book like this before. It was hot, steamy and just full of love. As always I read this book everyday for 8 days in the train and I absolutely adored it. When I had to stop reading, because I already was at my destination place I always had a big smile on my face.

Sue Ellen does a wonderful job creating this scene in Scotland, where the story takes place. As a girl who never visited Scotland, it really makes me want to know more about this country and .. the men.

There are allot of...more

"A Highlander's Temptation" by Sue-Ellen Welfonder is charming, funny, romantic and full of Highland heroism! Darroc MacConacher is such a sweet, strong hero! Gentle, yet very much a Highlander, ready to defend his land and his spirited fair lady. Arabella MacKenzie is the woman who haunts Darroc's dreams. He is stunned when she appears in person, the survivor of a shipwreck on the shores of his home. Their families are sworn enemies. Their attraction is intense. Darroc knows he can hold Arabell...more

I love me a Scottsman!

Arabella was such a likeable heroine - she was strong, feisty and opinionated. Darroc, although set on vengeance towards the MacKenzies, is given the opportunity of finding love even if it is within his enemy’s embrace - will he take the chance? I enjoyed all the supernatural elements in the story - you can’t read about a Scottish castle without a meddling ghost working behind the scenes. Ms. Welfonder whisks you away to the turbulent waters surrounding the Hebridean Isles...more

Arabella is the oldest daughter of the Black Stag MacKenzie, clan leader of the MacKenzies. Darroc is the leader of his MacConachers' clan. Arabella has been protected all her life by her father and as she's reached marriagable age, he's turned away all her suitors for one reason or another. Arabella sets out on an adventure to see Seal Island, her dowry island... but there's trouble at sea...
I love how Sue-Ellen blends humor, superstition, Scottish lore and romance into a charming tale... I als...more

Lady Arabella, eldest daughter of Duncan MacKenzie is lonely and longs for love, adventure and companionship. Mostly against her father's wishes she leaves home to find said adventure and maybe something more.

The sixth book in the MacKenzie series, A Highlander's Temptation was beautifully written. This is only my third time reading from the series, but I absolutely loved what I've read so far. In the prologue Ms. Welfonder writes about a stretch of coast in Scotland in such detail, you feel lik...more

Somehow Darroc has found the woman of his dreams, literally. He has spent many nights dreaming about a woman who is everything he wants and needs. When her ship wrecks and Darroc sees this woman that he can't seem to get out of his, he feels he's hit the jackpot. Nothing in life is ever easy and they will soon find out what being together will cost them.

A true romance that will make you ache for more.

Ahhh. as this was the last of the MacKenzie series, I will so miss them. I have to say Mrs. Welfonder did a great job in this last story. I was happy to see how everything turned out, however I do wish she would think of revisiting them once more maybe for a reunion book or something. For sure this is a series I will reread more then a few times!

Nothing wrong with the story. I just didn't enjoy the Scottish dialogue. I know that's probably (obviously) a big part of this genre but this is the first book I've read and I felt a bit lost and frustrated. Maybe a glossary would have helped (kind of kidding). So it's all on me, not the author. I think fans of the genre will like the book.
