I heard really good things about the Bad Girls of the Bible series and thought I'd try this book, as I have always been interested in the personal life of this biblical character. This woman's writing style annoyed me. If she wrote "girlfriend" "sister" or any other womanish bonding term of endearment one more time, I thought I would scream. Her ideas about Mary's life were sort of interesting, but beyond that I don't have much to say. As I am not a religious person, I was not overly impressed b...more

This was not quite what I was expecting. The first half is a fiction tale of a modern-day Mary Magdelene, suffering from the demons of depression, grief due to a lost child and marriage, and constant thought of suicide who is rescued by a minister planting a church in inner-city Chicago. The second half focuses on who Mary Magdelene was (and wasn't) and what meaning her story has for Christian women in the modern church. There is a good deal of humor, and both parts of the book are very down to...more

I absolutely loved this story, and how Ms. Higgs brought the story of Mary Magdalene to life. The mix of modern day parable, the real story of Mary Magdalene, and Bible study was awesome. I wish there were more books like this one. Pick this one up soon if you haven't read it yet. You will enjoy every page.

This book is wonderful. I really like Liz Curtis Higgs genuine style of writing. I love Mary Magdalene's love for our Savior. When I read of the first Easter morning and Mary Magdalene's tears, heartbreak and love for Jesus, being one that is easily brought to tears, I love her heart so!!!! If you are looking for a bible study book, I highly recommend this one. The book says it is a "approach to bible study" being a novel at the beginning but giving facts from scripture and thought provoking que...more

Now that's a good book! This book was not what I was expecting, not what I heard, not what the movies, the painting's or even what I thought I knew about Mary Magdalene but it is what simply is written. I have discovered the Gospel truth about the most myth-understood woman of the New Testament!I now have so much respect for Mary Magdalene. She is a woman to admire. Liz Curtis Higgs is one of my favorite authors! (I am passing this book on to someone special asap!)

Unveiling Mary Magdalene is the new title for the old version Mad Mary. This book (not the workbook) has a fiction story about a modern day Mary and then contains a bible study that goes more in depth about what we know about Mary from the Bible.
