Contrary to the titillating description on the back cover, this paperback views the history of ghosts and ghost hunting through a skeptical lens. Zoehfeld briefly covers a few ancient ghost sightings, then focuses on famous cases in the western world from the 1800’s forward. This volume effectively covers the major ideas in ghostly history, such as spirit photography and ectoplasm. This book gives a history on ghosts, hauntings and some of the more well known cases of hauntings, such as the Amityville house.

The book was okay. Not bad, but just okay. I did like the illustrations.
