This is the book that forever shatters the Dark Hunter world...

Wow the plot was Amazing...it was mix with a lot of actions and romance, and they didn't overlap each other...problems arises in just a snap yet they were solve too, it would leave your heart ache for the characters and some went crushing along, it made me cry to many times in the book and the romance squeal I'm so happy with the story so much!

OMG!! 6 shining stars!!! I freaking loved this book and can’t believe everything that happened! My mind is still reeling.

I love Tabitha… LOVE her! We have seen her a few times throughout the series so far, and when I realised that she was going to be matched with Valerius… OH YEAH!!! Valerius refers to her as a “brazen temptress, vampire slayer, complete unco...more “Life is serious.”

OMG!! 6 shining stars!!! I freaking loved this book and can’t believe everything that happened! My mind is still reeling.

I love Tabitha… LOVE her! We have seen her a few times throughout the series so far, and when I realised that she was going to be matched with Valerius… OH YEAH!!! Valerius refers to her as a “brazen temptress, vampire slayer, complete uncouth lunatic woman … who should, by all reason, repel him and yet completely captivated and beguiled him.” And that’s just the beginning! She is an absolute free spirit who knows what she wants and is not afraid to take it – and to hell with what anybody else thinks (this makes for some sensational verbal sparring).

Valerius (or ‘Val’) was a wonderful hero. Again, we had seen him in earlier books, but always as the standoffish Dark Hunter whose family was responsible for Kyrian’s torture and death. In the last book, Kiss of the Night, we started to see a new side to him and, truth be told, that’s when I started to fall for him a little. As we got to know him more in this book, I absolutely fell in love. Another poor, tortured soul, he has resigned himself to the fact that everybody in his world hates him because of his family and where he comes from.

The two of them together are absolute dynamite! They meet when Tabby accidentally stabs Val while fighting Daimons, and he wakes up naked in her bed *snicker* - yeah, really! The chemistry is intense from the beginning, and it doesn’t take long for these two total opposites to get under each other’s skin. It was fun to watch Tabby draw out the real Val, and there are some absolutely gorgeous moments as she helps him realise that he is not alone and that he is actually a good man. There is a bit of a ‘you and me against the world’ feeling as the two of them fall in love despite all that is against them, and I loved that they didn’t fight it, but just went with it. And he even calls her ‘My Lady’ *swoon*!

Acheron shines again. What I loved most about him in this book was, again, seeing the love he has for his friends. He is fiercely protective of each of them, and was the one who came to Val and Tabby’s defence when everybody was giving them shit about being together. I wanted to stand up and applaud. His friendship with Tabby is gorgeous, and I just love when she watches him at the start of the book and thinks to herself... "there was something about Ash that made every hormone in her body stand up and pant for more". You and me both sister! We get a bit of a glimpse into his private world this time around, but the question still needs to be asked – What the hell is he???

And then there’s Nick. OMG Nick!!! I can’t even say anything about Nick, just OH.MY.GOD!!!

The HEA is absolutely satisfying as a number of loose ends are all tied up in a pretty little bow.

I am absolutely in love with this series and need to send out a huge shout out to my GR friends who encouraged me to start it. Thank you!!

Valerius. I’ve been hearing mention of this name since book one in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series. Valerius is portrayed as a heartless and cruel Roman bastard in the earlier books. He is described that way before we even get to really meet him. But in Seize the Night, he has a chance to shine. Since this is his book, he has the opportunity to completely redeem himself. And he does. He really does. By the end of this book, I was totally in love with Valerius. And Tabitha and Valerius have...more Valerius. Valerius is a Roman General. He is used to being pretty much alone since everyone either misunderstands him or blames him for the actions of his family over two thousand years ago. (Yes, these Dark-Hunters tend to hold grudges for a long long time) So being alone means he’s not used to answering to anyone. He is very particular about what he likes. Let me put it this way: He pretty much has a stick up his bum. All the time. Oh, and he is Kyrian’s number one enemy, the hero from book one.

Tabitha is a free spirit. One of 9 sisters, she is used to saying what is on her mind, mostly filter free, in order to have herself be heard. Tabby is Amanda’s twin sister, the heroine from book one. You can see how this couple may seemed doomed from the get go. She is everything Valerius is not and her brother-in-law is Val’s mortal enemy. But after accidentally stabbing Valerius and bringing her home to tend to him, Tabitha is drawn to him…and him to her. I love how their relationship plays out. We have known Tabby since book one and she is a recurring character in some of the previous books. In other books, she is portrayed almost as flighty and short tempered. But in reality, she is a caring friend and sister, very compassionate and overall just someone who fights to protect human kind. There is so much more to her than I first assumed. And how she brings out just a bit of tenderness from Valerius…it’s perfect. I really like how Sherrilyn didn’t go overboard with this. How Tabitha didn’t make Val completely change. Through the book, she is still she and he is still he…just enhanced. Brought a little more to life.

Let’s talk about one of my favorite characters in this series, Acheron. Ash appears in each and every book and in each and every book, he becomes a little more of a mystery. Well, and get ready for this, in Seize the Night he becomes…even more of a mystery. You are left thinking “Whoa…blue?…fire spitting?…lightning bolts?…immortal-er?” I guess we really do have to wait for his book to finally get some answers. *sigh*

And Nick! Whoa again! There is a little side plot that comes pretty much out of nowhere but that you can tell will play a significant role in future installments. This little development were Nick is concerned makes you think “OMG…Nick?…A what?…And…whoa!” I can’t wait to see where his new adventure takes him.

I am loving this series. I mean really really loving it. (I know I’m one of the last people on the planet to read these…let’s not talk about that.) I am finding myself being pulled into this fabulous world that Sherrilyn Kenyon has created more and more and although I’ve met many already, I can’t wait to fully get to know the characters in the following books. And Ash?… I’m starting to think the ‘mystery of Ash’ will soon be on par with the ‘mystery of Barrons’. Seize the Night reminded me how much I enjoy everything about these Dark Hunter books…and it has made me want more. Thank goodness there are still 13 books left for me to read before I’m caught up to the series. And Sherrilyn is still writing it! That is an epic win.(less)

Adorei-o. Sofri todo o livro com ele. Já a Tabitha, arre que mulher. Valente!

Quando a acção começou à séria e a confusão se instalou em Nova Orleães, as minhas lealdades ficaram divididas em tantos aspectos, que nem sei se vou conseguir explicar-me muito bem em todos eles, mas é uma coisa que sinto necessidade de partilhar com vocês. Mas aqui vai uma lista das minhas lealdades repartidas.

A primeira foi entre o Val e o Kyrian. Por um lado, compreendo o sentimento do Kyrian, mas por outro, o Val, também teve mais do que a sua dose. Claro que gostava que eles pudessem ser tão amigos como o Julian e o Kyrian são. Não sei se tal é possível. É que gosto tantos dos dois, que não suporto que eles não se entendam. Assim, sinto sempre o meu coração dividido.

A segunda: Nick e Ash? Ohoh, isto não traz nada boas notícias! Sinceramente, Nick, no que é que estavas a pensar?! Era suposto esperares por mim!! Jesus, como foste sequer capaz?!
Mais uma vez, me vi completamente grega para decidir de que lado ficava eu. O Nick entra no meu Top 3 de DH. O Ash também. Óbvio que não compreendo porque o Nick fez aquela atrocidade e, bolas, compreendo o Ash.

Mas também não era preciso exagerar. Eles eram BFF. Por um lado estou feliz, o meu Nick nunca se irá embora. Mas por outro, estou desiludida por ele perder tanto. E aposto que ele já nunca mais vai ser o mesmo.

Terceira: Kyrian e Amanda imortais? Valerius e Tabitha imortais? OH, Please!! Ok, adoro-os e ainda bem que nunca se vão poder ir embora...mas e o Julian, coitado? Que grande injustiça. (Calma, agora lembrei-me: O Julian é mortal? Ou a mãe dele, deixou-o permanecer imortal? E a Grace?) Bem, a sério. Agora não quero que nenhum DH fique mortal. Simplesmente não iria conseguir aguentar.
E o Vane? Muito injusto. Ele não é imortal. A vida dele é finita! Quero fazê-lo imortal(less)

I have read every book in the Dark-Hunter series and prior to reading "Seize the Night", my favorite story was Zarek's in "Dance With The Devil". I thought no one could be more tortured than poor Zarek. Wrong!

I was captivated by Valerius almost immediately! Gone were the black leather pants and the gothic/punk attire replaced by turtlenecks, slacks and style. Wow! What a breath of fresh air! Not saying I mind a hot bod clad in tight leather but...it was a nice change. *grin

This is one of my favorite Dark Hunter books, right up there with Dance with the Devil! I really liked the love story between Valerius and Tabitha... And I loved how the book was so connected to characters from previous books in the series -- Amanda & Kyrian from Night Pleasures, Zarek & Astrid from Dance with the Devil, and Nick, of course! This book is a huge turning point in Nick's story - and if you like this series, THIS book is not to be missed!

As for me, “Seize the Night” is one of the best books of 2012. It is the 6th book of the “Dark-Hunter Universe” series, the story of Tabitha and Valerius.

It is just perfect! Love it! The story is filled with unforgettable characters, incomparable romance, mesmerizing erotica, real drama and tragic losses, vicious and powerful antagonists, witty and deep dialogues, sparkling humor, forceful emotions, thrilling and dynamic action.

So it was no surprise that I own all of them, the minute I finished Night Play, I ran out and bought this. And I was glad I did, I really liked Night Play, but I loved this one and it has to be my favorite out of the whole series so far.

Seize the Night is about Tabitha (the crazy twin sister of Amanda that we hear so much about) and Valerius (Kyrian’s worst enemy, the grandson of the man that crucified him. Let it go, Valerius was what 6?). Well these two meet and you have your average Dark Hunter plot, which surprisingly I am not getting sick of, the plot: Dark Hunter meets human woman, they fall in love, she helps him get over the demons from his past in return they get married and live a normal life. Yep, the story is basically along that line, twists and turns of course.

I really liked this plot, there were some interesting things that happened. Plus I think the fact that Tabitha already knew about Daimons and Dark Hunters and could kick some major ass helped. The author did not spend like 20 pages describing the world (that we already knew about) to this new human being.

I liked both the characters and they are probably my favorite couple out of the whole series. They are just so crazy and together there is some real magic! I could go on forever about the characters so I will describe each of them in a sentence. Tabitha: Awesome Daimon slayer with super powers, also crazy and nice, offends peoples easily but they forgive her, loves oysters. Valerius: Sweet, everyone treats him like he is Lucifer incarnerated (thanks to Kyrian and the fact that he is Roman and the fact that he has a stick up his ass). That is them in a sentence.

The writing always captivated me, probably why I like the all her books; the writing always keeps me interested.

My favorite out of the series, I loved this one the most! The characters, the plot, the writing, all came together amazingly!

Glad I read this one, unlike some of her past ones, this one was a real hit and I loved, loved, loved it! Can I say that enough?(less)

Man, I had forgotten how this book is like a punch to the gut. Valerius had a pretty craptastic life before he died and, honestly, an even worse one once he became a Dark-Hunter. Seriously, to be hated by EVERYONE just because he was born a Roman? That sucks. Hard. Not in a sexy way.

Ok, here's the deal. I liked this book and I didn't like it.

Liked:
Valerius. Again, Kenyon does superb when she speaks for/writes about the Dark Hunter. For some reason her writing comes alive for me when she centers on their past and their emotions.

The Ending: Once again, Kenyon begins with a whimper but ends with a bang. There were a few jaw dropping moments here that, from a reader perspective, were gratifying to see. Tabitha: On the plus side, Tabitha certainly did not fade into the background like some of the previous heroines have in the series. Her part wasn't overwhelmed by Valerius' part. However, I think that in an effort to make Tabitha so bold and brash and quirky, Kenyon made her off putting to me. She is a kick ass slayer who hangs out with utterly fabulous cross dressers and knows everyone. And even though she flitted through college and changed her major 12 times, she still managed, at a relatively young age, to earn a PhD in Ancient Civilizations. She can quickly and instantly psychoanalyze everyone perfectly. She speaks Latin, Greek and Italian flawlessly and was the lead singer in a metal band in College.

Disliked:
The romance: Once again, I thought the romance was ho-hum. Just didn't engage me at all.

Mean Girls: What is it with the whole Heathers mentality everyone had toward Valerius? In the previous books, Kenyon had created a plausible basis for Zarek, Kyrian and even to some extent Julian for their dislike/distrust of Valerius. But for it to extend to people who are friends of Nick's to not only dislike but to actively persecute him, lessens the impact she's going for with his story. Instead of creating some emotional resonance, it just makes me roll my eyes and wonder what else the "mean girls" have in store for him.

Buzz Kills: I have only a hand full of pet peeves in books and Kenyon managed to hit about three of them in this one: 1) The Deus Ex Machina. I heartily dislike reading a book where all this stuff happens and then in a few pages in the end somebody comes by, waves a few fingers and *snap* all better. I think if things are FUBAR, then they need to either stay FUBAR or they need to be fixed in a logical, organic way. She's been using Acheron as a swoop in and clean up guy and it is, imo, a cheat. 2) "Arms Akimbo". Honestly, nobody but the late Kathleen Woodiwiss should use that phrase. and 3) "Spitfire" again, a phrase describing a (usually red-head) woman which should have been retired in romance novels circa 1989.(less)

You know...for how many times I have read this story....My heart still breaks for Val and I just love him more each time. Last summer we went to New Orleans together (a fellow minion on the flight asked to hold my book when we landed in NOLA just to have a moment with him in the city)...

We did the French Quarter up right...I did leave him in the hotel room on St.Ann's when my sister and I did Bourbon...you know how he hates to walk on Bourbon and I was dressed nice so I didn't want to get splash...more

Poor Valerius!! Everybody hates him for what his grandfather did and for being Roman, but no one understands him until Tabitha almost kills him. Brought in by Artemis to screw with the other Dark-Hunter's in New Orleans, Valerius is reserved and proper. Tabitha of the Devereaux clan is flamboyant and lives by her own rules. a me è piaciuto moltissimo questo libro, che a differenza di quello di Bride e Vane, non si occupa esclusivamente della storia dei protagonisti ma si estende all'intero ramo dei cacciatori oscuri.

Quello che conta è il pacchetto completo: il libro e la storia per come sono e per quello che ti fanno provare durante la lettura.
Aggiungiamo che la Kenyon ha una penna magica nel creare personaggi maschili iper complicati, tenerelli e virili nello stesso involucro, e personaggi femminili fuori dai canoni e abbiamo la ciliegina sulla torta.
A distanza di 1 anno dalla storia di Bride e di Vane (Il gioco della notte), torniamo nell'universo dei Dark-Hunters con la storia di Valerius e Tabitha. Ora, se Tabitha è sempre stata un ospite fisso negli altri romanzi, Valerius ha avuto sempre e solo comparse negative. Nominato con disprezzo, odiato, escluso peggio di Zarek - ed è tutto dire - boicottato dai suoi stessi Scudieri, Valerius è il cattivo universalmente riconosciuto: è il cattivo, punto. A nessuno importa del suo background, di come e perché abbia compiuto certe azioni, nessuno vede le cose dalla sua prospettiva, dal suo punto di vista, nessuno eccetto Acheron. Sei un romano? Allora ti meriti tutta la sfiga del mondo. La pensano così tutti i personaggi comparsi fino ad ora - tranne Ash - e nessuno si risparmia dal rendere noto il suo disprezzo: Zarek gli lancia i fulmini e gli fa piovere addosso, gli Scudieri gli svuotano in testa secchi di acqua sporca insomma, la vita di Valerius non è certo semplice eppure lui non si lamenta, nemmeno una volta.
Valerius è il tipico personaggio che accetta la sua situazione senza fiatare perché, sotto sotto, si sente in colpa: pur non avendo colpe, o quanto meno colpe non così gravi, riconosce il suo ruolo nelle sofferenze degli altri. La sua famiglia era orribile, fatta di uomini malvagi, e per quanto si sia sempre sforzato di essere giusto, se voleva sopravvivere doveva per forza mantenere le apparenze. Per Valerius questo equivale ad aver compiuto gli stessi atti dei suoi fratelli e di suo padre, e accetta ogni singolo rifiuto sociale anche se soffre profondamente. Nonostante il rimorso, Valerius ha sempre cercato un porto sicuro: famiglia, amici, amore, qualsiasi cosa purché potesse sentirsi accettato e amato. All'improvviso, catapultato a New Orleans, si ritrova nel bel mezzo di un gruppo di persone affiatate, unite da amicizia e da uno scopo comune. Come un pesce fuori dall'acqua, Valerius rimane nell'ombra evitando accuratamente gli altri Dark-Hunters finché nella sua vita arriva Tabitha.
La citazione che ho scelto è la sua: ho adorato Valerius, ma Tabitha è la vera forza motrice del romanzo. Un uragano di vitalità, di ironia e di forza, Tabitha è la pecora nera di una famiglia stranissima, è la figlia esagerata, quella che nessuno sopporta per il suo carattere difficile e che - per quanto sia apprezzata - rimane sempre Tabby la strana. Tabitha è un personaggio femminile non convenzionale: combatte, bestemmia, prende la vita a muso duro e...accoltella tutti, compreso Valerius. Appena Ash mette Tabby e Valerius nella stessa stanza i due non si incastrano in nessun modo: dove Val è rigido come se avesse una scopa nel culo (lo dice Tabby, non io), lei è libera e istintiva ed è chiaro che il loro rapporto si basa sulla compensazione. Valerius raffredda i bollori di Tabby, e lei lo smolla, lo rende più alla mano. I due, dopo una serie di scene da schiantarsi dal ridere, raggiungono una sorta di tregua e diventano inseparabili: Tabby riconosce la sofferenza di Valerius, la sua tristezza nell'essere isolato e Valerius la prende sul serio, non la considera una testa calda.
Come sono dolci, assieme, ed è così piacevole vedere come le scene d'amore siano prevalentemente questo: amore, perché Tabby e Val sono due innamorati uniti against the family, se ne fregano dei pregiudizi e si amano.
Naturalmente c'è sempre qualcosa che non gira nel verso giusto: ad esempio Acheron è in difficoltà di fronte ad una serie di attacchi che non riesce a controllare, i D-H si dividono in fazioni e tocca a lui riappacificare gli animi, la sua Simi ha deciso di sperimentare la vita, litiga con Nick e gli tocca mettere tutto a posto a patatrac compiuto. Se non ci fosse Ash, bisognerebbe inventarlo. In più avvengono 3 morti che lasciano a bocca aperta. Insomma, la Kenyon non si è fatta tanti problemi, in questo romanzo, a far muovere la trama anche in direzioni più drammatiche ma il senso di soddisfazione a lettura finita rimane e non si smuove dal cervello.
La Kenyon è come la copertina di Linus, è sicurezza e conforto paranormale.

My favorite so far out of all the dark-hunter series I've read. I just love Valerius. *^_^* Even though everyone thought of him as a prick, he was actually very kind. He has a big heart and I love him for that. It's just so unfair that other people, who don't know him, treat him the way they do. This series is wildly popular, so I'm in the minority, but for me, this is silly, with too much deux et machina. All problems are far too easily resolved, making it impossible for me to become seriously captured by the plot. Life and death mean little in this book. It felt like playing cops and robbers when I was little -- hey presto! In the game again!

Uno dei libri che aspettavo maggiormente di tutta la serie è “L’eternità della notte”, il libro del bel Valerius; di lui mi sono innamorata alla sua prima apparizione nel libro di Zarek, ed ero proprio curiosa di capire come si sarebbe evoluto il rapporto con i suoi vicini di casa Kyrian di Tracia e Julian di Macedonia, e come avrebbe fatto Tabitha a farlo diventare il suo uomo; lei che nel modo di porsi e comportarsi è proprio l’opposto del bel dark hunter romano.
Fin dal primo incontro tra Tabitha e Valerius, si capisce che questa coppia è destinata a “fare scintille”, e la loro diversità di carattere da’ vita a situazioni comiche che mi hanno fatta ridere in casa, sotto lo sguardo sbigottito di mio marito che non capiva il perché di questo mio comportamento. Mi sono talmente tanto affezionata al modo di essere (le sue emozioni, i ricordi della vita passata, e le paure per le persone a cui è particolarmente legato) di Valerius, che in certe occasioni ho poco gradito il comportamento del suo fratellastro Zarek; per fortuna che Astrid, come al solito, è sempre presente nella vita del suo tenebroso uomo per farlo ragionare. Unico neo di tutto il libro è una decisione presa da Ash che mi ha lasciata con l’amaro in bocca, e mi ha fatto odiare (per quanto lo si possa fare- parliamo del fantastico Acheron ) per un attimo questo personaggio che ho sempre amato (il suo è uno degli altri libri che attendo con ansia); fortuna che nel corso della storia “T-rex” farà un cosa che ho apprezzato tantissimo.
Tirando le somme, posso sicuramente dire che questo è uno dei libri della serie che mi è piaciuto di più: infatti penso che sia un gran peccato non poter dare oltre il cinque come valutazione.
Se qualcuno di voi non ha letto questa strepitosa serie, posso consigliarvi di andare a prenderla in libreria (a breve usciranno tutte le ristampe con le copertine a tema)? Sono sicura che amerete anche voi il mondo creato dalla Kenyon.

I enjoyed Seize the Night, a paranormal romance in the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It was my first Kenyon book. I got a big a kick out of it's being set in New Orleans, as I'm a frequent visitor to that eccentric town.

For those uninitiated in Ms. Kenyon's world, I'll describe it as best I can. I'm bound to get it wrong because I found it a little confusing. Daimons are evil vampires. Dark Hunters are vampires sworn to protect humans from Daimons. Squires are sort of personal assistan...more I enjoyed Seize the Night, a paranormal romance in the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It was my first Kenyon book. I got a big a kick out of it's being set in New Orleans, as I'm a frequent visitor to that eccentric town.

For those uninitiated in Ms. Kenyon's world, I'll describe it as best I can. I'm bound to get it wrong because I found it a little confusing. Daimons are evil vampires. Dark Hunters are vampires sworn to protect humans from Daimons. Squires are sort of personal assistants in Daimon fighting to Dark Hunters. The characters in STN have been alive since ancient times and still carry grudges, so even Dark Hunters don't get along. All the Dark Hunters hate our hero, Valerius, for crucifixions, conquests, and tortures his corrupt Roman family did to them and their kin back in the day. And therein lies the book's charm. Valerius is a stuck up cultural snob who's rich, immortal, and superhero strong, but he cannot even walk down Bourbon street without ancient enemies pouring cheap beer on his head from a second story window. His own brother, a demi-god, makes sure it rains - only over Varlerius' head. Being gorgeous gets him no breaks either; he gets lucky but he's never loved. Until he meets a Tabitha, a gothed-out human, self-appointed Daimon slayer.

I also liked Tabitha a lot. She's bold, outspoken, intense, and uninhibited. People often find her too much to take in long doses, but everyone loves her anyway. Ms. Kenyon made the development of Tab and Val's romance believable, sweet, and sexy. I really liked the romance part of the novel, which is dominant in the ratio with Daimon fighting at about 70-30.

The battles escalated. New enemies emerged with new agendas that took several gods, goddesses, and worlds to explain. Ms. Kenyon lost me. I had a hard time caring about the outcome of the battles, even the epic one close to the end. That is why I gave the book 3 stars instead of 4.

I've bought a few more Sherrilyn Kenyon novels since I picked up this one. I think I'm going to enjoy them.

This is the only book I have read of the whole series because I don't like to read series that have minimum 10 books...the writing and the characters can become very repetitive (I don't know, I just don like it). Of course, none of the other Dark Hunters seem to either and Tabitha would be prepared to admit that the fact Valerius is the spitting image of his grandfather - the man who crucified her twin sister's husband, Kyrian - and apparently made in the same mould probably has something to do with it as well. Things get even more complicated as she begins to discover the real Val under the surface of the cool, urbane Roman. He's a man who no longer believes he can change anyone's opinion of him, so he's given up trying, instead hiding himself behind the Dark Hunter equivalent of a 'stiff upper lip'. They're polar opposites with a whole lot of baggage between them, but they seem to be falling for each other all the same.

Soon, both Amanda and Tabitha's lives are in danger, Kyrian and Valerius are being forced to work together and death is on the horizon.

This is a great addition to Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. One of her great talents is to take characters who have previously appeared to be less than sympathetic and turned everything around until we're cheering for them. She does this with Valerius here, and we get to watch the gradual transition through Tabitha's eyes. Their love story is a lovely one and they will complement people beautifully through the years; after all, Val needs to loosen up a bit and it wouldn't hurt Tabitha to calm down a little.

Many old favourite characters appear in this book, including Ash and Simi, Amanda, Kyrian and Marissa and more. For those following the series and trying to decipher Kenyon's plans for the books and characters, we get a major revelation here, a major character development and a whole lot more hints and clues. There's a heartbreaking moment, beautifully done that will have long repercussions and a great story to enjoy.

I loved this book and it's probably my favourite Dark Hunter book so far. Go out and enjoy the fun. If you haven't already, discover the Dark Hunters.

I wasn't sure how this book would be when I started it. Val was portrayed as such a bad guy I wasn't sure that I would be able to like him. I will admit that I thought this book was solidly ok until towards the end and all hell broke loose.

I really liked seeing Val's background, how it differed from what Kryian and Zarek thought happened. I think Archeron said it best, that there are 3 sides to every story, yours, theirs, and what happened, this statement is very true. That would be a big fat NO. I found myself agreeing with Tabitha and loved that she took people to task for their actions towards Val. I loved that she got people to rethink how they treated him. I hated that Val thought he deserved, that may not be right, maybe more like he was resigned that this was his fate. He just kept accepting bucket after bucket of crap everyone tossed to him, braced for it, so that when kindness came to him he didn't know what to do.

I think that Tabitha is perfect for Val, she is so opposite and shakes up everything that is his world, which is just what he needs. I loved her yelling at him for bizarre things, the special pasta, his clothes, how he acts. Yet all the while she does this she does small things behind the scenes that shows she doesn't hate him, it is just the way that she expresses herself.

There was so much going on besides Tabitha and Val. Somethings made me laugh, Simi and Nick, some made me mad, Archeron, Nick, and Simi, and some made me gasp and cry out NO, Nick, his Mom, the Devereaux sisters and some of our favorite past characters. It was with these events that the book really kicked into high gear for me. I hated to stop listening and could hardly keep listening as one bad thing after another kept happening.

Being done with this book I am torn. Parts of me are happy, parts of me are weary, and parts are afraid for what comes next for our group. I am glad that I have the next book ready to go so I can learn what is up with them all.(less)

I have mixed feelings about this novel. I loved Tabitha and Valerius as a couple, but the romance between them started out a bit silly: Tabitha stabs a hot vampire, so she drags him home then jumps in his lap and starts making out with him the first night... Okay, I would have done that in a heartbeat, but in this novel it seemed to come out of nowhere -particularly since Tabitha spent most of chapter 1 fantasizing about another guy (Archeron). About half way through Zarek's book, Dance with the Devil, I looked up the publication dates of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and the Dark Hunter series. That was when I discovered that Zarek was the original Z. Not Zsadist. After having read Seize the Night, I found the original Phury!

I absolutely loved this book! “Seize the Night” by Sherrilyn Kenyon is definitely my favorite book from the Dark-Hunter series so far! Oh, god! This story was amazing! I really think that this book is the darkest and saddest book so far in the series.

This is the story of Valerius and Tabitha. Valerius is a Dark-Hunter that no one really likes. Actually, everybody hates him. He was a Roman general and the grandson of another cruel general with the same name. He is the number one enemy to Kyrian because his grandfather tortured him and killed him more than two thousand years ago. Now, nobody likes Valerius because everyone thinks that he is like his evil grandfather. Big mistake. Valerius is a very kind man. He is cold and untouchable because he wanted to believe himself that he doesn’t need anyone. He is just a man who wants to be loved. His mortal life was full of misery and he never knew real love. I was very angry with all the other Dark-Hunters in this book because their behavior was awful. When Tabitha came to his life everything changed for him.

Tabitha is a woman like no other. Some will call her crazy but the truth is that she is a very kind and caring woman. She is like a hurricane and she changes Valerius’ life forever. She can see the truth about him from the very beginning. She isn’t judgmental and she wants to do the right thing even if her actions put her in trouble.

As I said, I cried a lot with this story. Many of the secondary characters are having a really bad time here, but I don’t want to write any spoilers. I only want to say that Acheron, Nick, Amanda, Kyrian and Simi are some of the characters that I love in this book and I was so sorry for them too many times.

An absolutely captivating story, a very well-written and interesting world-building and some of the most amazing characters make this book a must-read!!!
