Max se narodil jako kožoměnec a rané dětství strávil se svou matkou ve vyhnanství v bažinách za městem. Po smrti matky se Maxe ujal Jimmy. Nyní je z něj zabiják poslouchající Jimmyho na slovo. Je mu naprosto oddaný a v jeho nepřátelích vzbuzuje strach. Přesto je uvnitř citlivý, zranitelný a trpí ztrátou matky a odcizením. V dětství trpěl nedostatkem lásky, nyní chce pro sebe něco lepšího a touží po ženě, která v jeho nitru naplní prázdnotu. Kvůli jeho tesknivým stavům a pocitům nejistoty ho někteří čtenáři mohou vidět jako naprostého ňoumu bez vlastního názorů a s fixací na boty, někomu ovšem muže právě jeho nejistota připadat okouzlující.

Cé Cé sice na místo činu často přijde v minisukni a na jehlách, což je její nejoblíbenější civilní oděv, je ovšem drsnou a odhodlanou policistkou, která jde všem nepřátelům zákona tvrdě po krku. Alespoň to se nám autorka snaží namluvit. Cé Cé je tak odhodlaná dostat Jimmyho za mříže, že se dle svých slov vyspí s kýmkoli, aby se jí to povedlo. A tím někdo je Max. Navíc vůbec neváhá Maxe, který k ní už dlouho něco cítí, využít, zradit, manipulovat s ním a při každé možné příležitosti podupat mu poměrně křehké srdce. V druhé půli knihy se karta obrátí. Drsná policistka odhodlaná dostát svým cílům za každou cenu se úměrně s tím, jak v sobě začne objevovat city k Maxovi (a kolikrát ho dostane do postele), zapomíná na veškeré své zásady a postoje.

Příběh je doplněn záblesky minulosti, které jsou poměrně nesrozumitelné a podané téměř filozofickým způsobem, že poslepovat jednotlivé kousky skládačky může být pro čtenáře složité. Ústřední linie příběhu se ztrácí v častém střídání vyprávění v er-formách z úhlů pohledů různých postav. Orientaci v tom, kdo je kdo, neusnadňuje ani velké množství francouzských jmen, která si čtenář může nejen těžko zapamatovat, ale navíc si pro jejich podobnost i poměrně nevýrazné vedlejší postavy plést.

První díl série nabízí sice čtivým a lehkým jazykem psanou, nicméně stále podprůměrnou romanci s hrdiny, kteří čtenáři rozhodně k srdci nepřirostou. Autorka se soustředila především na vykreslení vztahu hlavních hrdinů, z nichž jeden je člověk a druhý se za člověka vydává, nadpřirozené prvky se v příběhu tedy téměř vůbec nevyskytují a ve větší míře se objeví až v poslední čtvrtině románu. Nancy Gideon nicméně právě v poslední čtvrtině otevřela dveře do fantaskní verze New Orleans a čtenář může doufat, že v dalších dílech se do tohoto světa ponoříme ještě víc.

Dojmy po dočtení:
Spousta nezajímavých a splývajících postav s francouzskými jmény, on naprostá bačkora s fixací na boty, ona dost podlá ženská typu všechnovímvšechnoznám. A ani nevím, jak shrnout zápletku týhle knihy. Divný, komplikovaný. Ale je to čtivě napsaný a spousta věcí především z pozadí daného příběhu je jen naznačena, takže na další díl jsem zvědavá. Přesto tuto knihu hodnotím slovem "průšvih". Těch pár zajímavých stránek někde na začátku třetí čtvrtiny hodnocení nakonec vylepšit nedokázalo.(less)

When an author has so many publications they're numbered so readers can devour them in the correct order, you know the series is a hit. This first in Nancy's "By Moonlight" series is a great hook, because it's also a stand alone Tour de Force.

In fact, the romance is more dominant than in many books I'd classify as romance. The love story between Max and Cee Cee is heart-wrenching, beautiful and sad and poignant. Max's devotion in particular was fantastic. I can see why people don't like Cee Cee and the way she turned on Max at several points in the book, but, considering their positions and history, I can see why she reacts like this. Masked by Moonlight definitely piles on the angst, and, if you don't like this, you'll probably find this overwrought. For those, like me, who do, it'll just keep you turning the pages.

I was put off buying this book because of Max's position as a mob enforcer. (view spoiler) I'd have probably kept on putting it off, if I hadn't been in the mood to read about shapeshifters. However, it is clear that it is gratitude to Jimmy Legere (and brainwashing) that keeps him in the role. Jimmy is a truly nasty piece of work, particularly in his attitude towards Max, keeping him on such a short lead that Max literally doesn't know what to do without him. Another reviewer has commented that Max looks, but doesn't act, like an alpha male. In relation to Jimmy, I'd agree that he's very submissive, because of his conditioning. Jimmy is the only father he's ever known, but his affection is conditional, and keeps Max entirely subject to him. However, we see hints of the man Max could be, and I hope this is explored in later books.

As I've been writing this, I've been restraining myself from going to Amazon to buy the next book. I'm really not sure how long my restraint will last, because I'm dying to know what happens next.(less)

Nancy Gideon's Masked By Moonlight has it's ups and downs as a novel. She has a great talent for writing and delivers an intriguing story line, but it's her characters who drag this novel down and make you question this book.

Charlotte (Cee Cee) Caissie is a New Orleans detective who as of late, has been working more and more crime scenes with mutilated bodies. To her, Jimmy isn’t just another con man, he’s the man responsible for her father’s death and she wants nothing more than to bring him down.

Yet Cee Cee has one problem standing in her way: Max Savoie, Jimmy’s right-hand man. She knows Max is attracted to her and sees her opportunity to finally get to Jimmy and enact her revenge. What she doesn’t expect are the intense feelings she’s developing for Max. The more she’s around him, the more she cares for him. They both know their relationship is impossible. She’s a cop...and he’s on the wrong side of the law. Will they both be able to follow their hearts?

The premise was smart, the hero was sexy and fascinating, but the heroine was about as prickly as a porcupine. Max was vulnerable, confused and mentally suffering. He was alone in the world and looking for someone to comfort him...and Cee Cee was not that person. It seemed every other chapter she was betraying him, manipulating him and stepping on his heart at every opportunity. So like a beaten dog that doesn’t know what else to do, he kept coming back to her. It was frustrating to read.

I also extend the possibilities of reality with most, if not all books I read. I understand bending historical accuracies or the norms of reality can make for a great book. With that in mind, I accepted the attraction between the muscles of a crime mob and a cop. It had great potential to make for an dynamic story about an impossible couple. What I had difficulty believing was the lack on consequences each side faced. There was no mention of a supervisor threatening Cee Cee’s job when it became very clear she was crossing lines she wasn’t meant to cross. Max and Jimmy’s people were committing crimes and she was either looking the other way or willing to supply him with an alibi. I couldn’t determine if that was romantic or depressing.

The heroine was the main problem. Some of her issues ultimately just made me dislike her. Max on the other hand, was a well-crafted alpha who had insecurities that made him absolutely charming. His youth has been full of emptiness and lacking love, so his feelings towards Cee Cee filled a void in this lost man. It makes him see his life and situation in a different light and makes him want something better for himself.

Max was fragile on the inside, but to the outside he could be a force to be reckoned with. It was easy to see why Cee Cee would become weak in the knees around him.

“Nice coat,” he said at last.

“You like it?” She adjusted the lapels of his black trench and stroked her hands over the smooth fabric. The Armani label said it must have cost him a small fortune. “It’s hard to find the right fit when you’re as tall as I am, and so stain resistant, too. Even the nastiest stains.”

“Are you saying I’m the right fit for you, detective?”

“That’s not what I’m saying at all, Max...You want your coat?”

“You hang on to it.” His gaze swept over her, the small, self-satisfied smile still on his face. “It looks right fine where it is. Think of me when it’s wrapped around you.”

Will I read book two? Probably. More than anything, I’m curious where this storyline is going. Maybe I haven’t had enough time to acquaint myself with Charlotte and perhaps the next book will shed a little more light on her character. While Gideon’s writing is solid, and her alpha hero is dead sexy, her storyline is full of holes and her heroine is cringe-worthy.

One of the more enjoyable shifter stories I have read in awhile.

The sexual tension in this story is off the charts. The characters themselves are wonderful and enigmatic. I enjoyed the plot and I still wonder at the bad guys and who is pulling strings behind the scenes.

However - even though the author tried I still couldnt find myself accepting their relationship. A good cop and a criminal king pin. Its just not working for me.

Generally speaking it was ok, but really frustrating.
Although the plot isn't really consistent, it is the first book in the series so it's not too bad (you just hope the 2nd book will develop everything).
What attracted me to this book was the potential in the relationship between Charlotte and Max, but throughout the book it didn't evolve as I expected.

This book is a bit different than other paranormal romances I have read. The first difference is the characters. The hero is the physical epitome of an Alpha male but his personality and brain were definitely not Alpha male. Masked by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon is an enjoyable romance with paranormal, suspense, and police procedural elements.

Detective. Charlotte Caissie of the New Orleans Police Department is investigating two violent homicides. One victim is a small time gambler in debt for big bucks to Jimmy Legere. Charlotte believes the criminal boss is the culprit. But before she can enter his grand mansion, she is confronted by Max Savoie, the personal bodyguard of Mr. Legere. Max and Charlotte have history. He often trades words with Charlotte and she enjoys their encounters. But she is troubled by her attraction to an employee of such an evil man. But her suspicions can not be proved after her interview with Legere. Unfortunately, the interview frustrates her, she can’t think of any logical reason why Legere would have for murdering the two victims. Soon her investigation leads to Max being a prime suspect but Charlotte feels he can’t be the murderer. Conflicted by her emotions, how far will she bend the rules when being a cop is everything to her?

Ms. Gideon has a sharp wit which is shown in her characters’ snappy dialogue. I loved how her main characters have flaws and strong emotional baggage. This story is a high action novel that will keep you turning the pages! The romance is volatile between two polar opposites. One is a criminal and the other is a police officer.

However, I felt the author doesn’t make use of the current events. Hurricane Katrina is still relevant and I thought it strange that it was not mentioned in the back story. This book reminded me of the movie Fair Game with Cindy Crawford. Hot woman, hot man, lots of action, but if you had to ask me afterwards what and why they were running (the plot of the movie/book), I couldn’t tell you. Masked by Moonlight is like this. The grand scope of the plot was a mystery to me. Because of this I felt unsatisfied at the end of the novel.

But this is a trilogy. I give the author kudos for getting me so involved with the story. I really want to know how the characters will settled their issues. As it stands at the end of this book there is still a lot of strife pulling them apart and yet their desires pulling them together. I couldn’t see how the problem would be fixed. I can’t wait to find out what happens in their next book!

The suspense is gripping. There seems to be no way out of danger at any turn for the two characters. I am so glad there are more books following their journey to enjoy!

I must admit a fondness for stories of revenge and redemption. Masked by Moonlight gives us a strong woman detective in "Cee Cee" Caissie - she's bi-racial, gorgeous, tough, and sexy. Max is tall, dark, and handsome with a wolfish grin - literally. He also just so happens to serve as the muscle for mob boss, Jimmy Legere. Charlotte is your typical "good" cop out to discover her father's killer while ridding the streets of evil one creep at a time. Under any other circumstance, we probably wouldn't see these two having much to do with one another unless one was trying to kill the other. Charlotte and Max are a fun couple to read about. Charlotte is fairly relatable to your average female reader and I found following her to be pretty entertaining. Max is super attractive and definitely a guy we wouldn't mind getting to stare at over coffee. Put the two together and it's like Ms. Gideon created an explosion of romance on the pages. The chemistry between these two is definitely one of the highpoints to me, although I will say that at times it almost felt forced. The relationship between Max and Charlotte was thrown impossible curve balls and yet still they manage to overcome them. I'll be excited to see where Ms. Gideon takes these characters in the second book in the Moonlight Trilogy, Chased by Moonlight.

Aside from the romance, passion, and the never-ending question of what will happen in Max and Charlotte's relationship, the underlying mystery and drama of the book makes for a fantastic read. The story is complex, holding multiple layers of depth, without being overly so. It is very easy to follow, but not so simple that your mind gets lazy and sleepy. Max and Charlotte both have questions from their past and it seems that the answers converge. Is there more to the story than either of them know? Ms. Gideon leads us through the book, easily hooking us with dynamic characters and her development of the plot. She throws questions at us, gives us a few answers and then tosses more questions our way. There really isn't a single moment in MASKED BY MOONLIGHT that leaves the reader feeling bored and ready to jump ahead.

I recommend this to any Paranormal and Romance fans out there. The passion in MASKED BY MOONLIGHT is intense and beautifully written, while the paranormal aspect of it gives it that feeling of "other" that readers find so compelling nowadays. Ms. Gideon appears to have a great series in the works here and there's no telling what she has up her sleeve for us next.

The author goes off from what begins as a great story right to a horrible love story and kind of throws the rest in as an after thought. CeeCee who is supposed to be tough, strong, and in control cries. A lot. Entirely too much for a strong woman. Not saying strong women aren't supposed to cry but every other scene (or so it feels is too much) and Max the loyal "dog" that he is, defies his "father" for love at first sight? Oh and let's not forget about STUPID, STUPID, and more STUPID acts by a supposedly intelligent detective who knows HOW she maintains her job while wearing Max's Armani, openly stands up for him at the police department, openly sleeping with him and cohorting at the compound? Come on! Seriously? She is supposedly "trying to get close to him" and not once did the police chief say a thing to her, but her partner does? Really??? It's just a very weak story.

I, for one, don't care to read another one in this series. Too many authors are just pumping out fantasy/paranormal romances just to fill the shelves without even "trying". They are just getting the elements in, a weak story line, a cover with a sexy hero/heroine and fill it up with a horrible romance. Sigh

As soon as I heard there was a werewolf book set in New Orleans I knew I had to read it! I had such high hopes for this book and to be honest, it left me feeling frustrated.

I always felt a little bad that Jacob Black was so young. Well, and moody but I won't address that here. What if he was older so I could look at him, pant, and not feel like a cradle robber?

Masked by Moonlight is the first in a hot new trilogy by Nancy Gideon. I killed this book in two days- it was impossible to set down. I was devoured by the main characters as Gideon laced the pages with brilliant chemistry between Max and Charlotte. Under any other circumstances, these two wouldn't find themselves in the midst of a passionate endeavor, but Gideon delivers an action packed novel full of mystery and desire.

I found it easy to relate to our heroine, Charlotte, which is why I liked her so much. Watching her fight crime and deal with her life circumstances was enjoyable, to say the least. Max was just as fun to follow, making this an extremely entertaining couple. Although the chemistry between Max and Charlotte is undeniable, it occasionally felt coerced and I feel almost silly saying that as it was one of my most favorite aspects of the book. For the majority of the read, their chemistry popped right off the page. And I adore the obstacles and curve balls that Gideon throws at them, just to see them dodge one bullet after another.

Even if you're not passionate about reading romance, the plot will keep you flipping those pages. Really though, I think the romance between Max and Charlotte is enough to keep you on your toes. But the suspenseful, intriguing mystery just makes this one magnificent read. Maybe I went into this not expecting too much, as I truly thought nothing could top the previous book I'd read... However, Masked by Moonlight has depth, complexity and keeps the storing flowing so that I found it hard to become bored with the desire to skim. I loved that I had tons of questions, but enough answers that the story left me wanting to read more.

If you're into werewolves and or romance, you will love this one. And all of you Jacob Black fans have a gorgeous werewolf to dream about that isn't too young for ya. ;) Yep, brace yourself for an intense ride and clear some of your schedule because you won't be putting this one down! Chased by Moonlight, the second book in the Moonlight Trilogy, comes out June 29th and I'm excited to see where Gideon takes these characters next!

I wasn't exactly sure what I was in for when I started reading this one. There may be reviews for it, but they've passed me by. By reading the back cover blurb, it sounded like it could have been a paranormal and probably was, and yes, it is.

There is a whole lot I love about this book. But what really makes it a standout is one of the most shocking heroes I've ever read. He just about breaks your heart with his vulnerability towards the heroine.

This series could be compared to the In Death series in some ways I think. So far there are three books with Charlotte and Max and I really hope there will be more.

Charlotte, or CeCe is a cop in New Orleans. Years earlier she, along with her best friend, were held captive as a means to keep her father, a dedicated cop, from going after the leader of crime syndicate. They were finally rescued but only after unspeakable horrors were done to them. Her friend Mary Kate became a nun and CeCe became a cop who lives and breathes the job. After a particularly gruesome murder in which the name of the man she holds responsible for her father's death comes up, she goes to question him - again - as he seems to have his fingers in many of the crimes she investigates. His right hand man and enforcer Max is standing behind him as always. She has long had unwelcome feelings for Max, him being and enforcer for a crime syndicate and her being a cop. But they've only exchanged few words in the intervening years. But things are about to change.

What is so delicious about this book is Max is what he is - and then some. Yes, he's killed for Jimmy, his boss whom he also sees as a very strong father figure. He's a loner who has never had friends or lovers. And he's been in love with CeCe for years. And now that CeCe is starting to admit to her feelings for Max, he is torn between his love for Jimmy and his love for CeCe.

But Max is not really human. He's a shapeshifter with uncanny abilities as far as his senses go. But because of what he is, he is also such a lost soul. He is both good and while I wouldn't say evil exactly, he has done evil things. And he is so gone for the heroine. I love it when the hero is wrecked for the heroine.

CeCe is a great heroine. Once she opens up to her feelings for Max, she will do anything for him including putting her job at risk. Although human, she's more than a match for Max and she is just as wrecked for him as he is for her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I'm more than excited to keep reading this very unusual series. All I can say about this one is WoWzers. (less)

Their attraction to each other is complicated by the fact that Charlotte is dedicated to putting away criminals and Max works for the city's Mob Boss. Max is an always-frustrating enigma for Charlotte. No one knows anything about him, no birth certificate, no SS#, driver's license, etc.

Max Savoie is "tall, dark and bold", Jimmy Legere's right hand. His silent enforcer. He's "confident without being cocky, powerful without aggression, and exudes complete control over what he allows the world to see."

Jimmy "rescued" Max when he was boy. He raised him to do/act/speak/dress exactly as Jimmy tells him to do. He's his "pet", given anything he wants, but owns nothing. Jimmy's world is all he's ever really known. As he becomes closer to Charlotte, the short leash Jimmy keeps him on becomes looser. For the first time in his life, Max wants something for himself, Charlotte. Max's past and despicable treatment by Jimmy have made him who he is and now he's becoming "more".

Tiny little annoyance: Charlotte is (almost) always referred to ask "Cee Cee" when speaking, but hardly ever when spoken to by anyone. It's always Charlotte or Lottie (??Another nickname??)

I will definitely be reading the whole trilogy. I love mob stories and this tied in shifters in a way that made it a super fun read.

I will admit that when I agreed to review this book, I thought it would be a light and sometimes sexy type of book. While I was correct on the second part of that assumption, I would exactly call this very light. That is a good thing. In fact, this book was written in a way that kept my interest and I even thought would be good for men to enjoy. Unfortunately, I don't think you'd get a guy past the cover, but if you did, I think he would be pleasantly surprised in how fun this book is to read.

Tahle kniha má klasické chyby prvorozeného dítka - většina dialogu se odehrává ve vysvětlivkách za přímou řečí, děj zběsile pádí ze stránky na stránku (mám pocit, že se snad vše odehrálo během pár, pokud nepočítám dvě nebo tři mezery odbyté "o několik týdnů později..."), zvraty v ději jsou náhlé, bez varování pro postavy i čtenáře, a tak nějak naivní, či možná spíše nepravděpodobné až nesmyslné.

I can totally understand why the reviews for Masked by Moonlight were mixed. A dyed in the wool cop dating a murder subject and suffering no professional repercussions for indulging in such a conflict of interest and the fact that a murderer - one capable of extreme savagery - was a leading man did give me pause at times. But I still liked the book despite its flaws and what made the book for me was Max.

Yes, not entirely human Max has the potential for a thoughtless brutality, but he is also protective, sensual, loyal, almost submissive with his boss/father-figure, naive, and hopeful - desperately wanting love but sure that no one can love him. Without these vulnerabilities Max, the mobster's enforcer would not be a very sympathetic character but Max does inspire sympathy and it is this odd mix which calls to Charlotte and causes her to fall for this totally inappropriate man. Charlotte is far more difficult to like, she does not trust easily, and really is quite clueless when it comes to personal relationships. She thinks like a cop first and even as she develops feeling for Max, those feelings are mixed in with figuring how she can use Max to extract revenge. If it weren't for Max's admiration for Charlotte, and his unwavering devotion to her, it would be hard to hope that Charlotte could some how open up enough to give Max the love that he so hopelessly craves.

Both Charlotte and Max are damaged and there is a desperate intensity to their couplings which makes the joinings quite steamy - even though the scenes aren't drawn out or very explicit. With their pasts and their futures getting in the way, the relationship between the pair is not easy on any level and while their explosive chemistry keeps pulling them back together despite hurt and mistrust, it's going to take some major concessions to bridge the gulf between their worlds. I am glad that I get a few more books to see how they possibly can get their HEA. The series continues in Chased By Moonlight and then Captured by Moonlight.

Popravdě, když jsem poprvé četla o Charlotte, měla jsem spíš pocit, že mám co dočinění s lehkou děvou z ulice, jejíž úbor je stejně jako Charlottin kožená sukně a vysoké podpatky a ne o detektivovi. Ale co už. Každopádně Charlottino myšlení je pro mě velikou záhadou. Občas jsem měla pocit, že trpí schizofrenií. Její rebelismus a vytrvalá touha po pomstě mi přišly asi jako její dvě jediné kladné vlastnosti.
Max. Max je prostě Max. Jimmiho bodyguard a jeho pravá ruka pro špinavou práci. Ale nenechme se zmást, za tou pokerovou tváří a zdánlivě vyrovnaným výrazem se skrývá bystrá mysl. Jednou z věcí, která se mi na něm líbila, bylo to, že to nebyl žádný klaďas. Autora jeho úlohu v celém příběhu vykreslila celkem barvitě stejně jako jeho minulost, u které mi ho bylo málem líto.
Jejich vztah je kapitola sama pro sebe. Byla to jízda na horské dráze plná zvratů, udobřování, podrazů a zase setkávání a popravdě jsem si nebyla vůbec jistá, jak to s těmi dvěma dopadne. Byla to jedna z mála věcí, která mě na knížce bavila a já byla zvědavá, jak ti dva skončí.
Co se týče překladu, ze začátku tu byl z mé strany celkem velký problém a to přezdívka hlavní hrdiny. Cé Cé. Nejdřív to byl rušivý element, ale nakonec jsem si po několika stránkách zvykla a prostě si ho četla v jeho anglické verzi. Místy mě iritovalo časté opakování slov. Přece jen jedno slovo zopakované pětkrát za odstavec je trochu moc.
Takže co tu máme? Jednu otravnou hlavní hrdinku, která si nedokáže ujasnit priority a jediné, o čem si je jistá, že chce, je pomsta jejího otce. Záporák Max, který Charlotte nutí přehodnocovat její stanoviska, a který se drží temné tajemství o tom, co je. Pak samozřejmě nějakou tu zápletku kromě románku hlavního páru.
Mně to dalo dohromady 5/10. Příjemně se to četlo i když záblesky z minulosti byly často velmi zmatené a musím říst, že francouzská jména postav mi moc nepomohla a já tak měla ve vedlejších postavách celkem zmatek.
Prostě průměrná knížka, která nenadchne, ale ani neurazí. Každopádně v tom vidím potenciál a jsem zvědavá, jak se vyvine další díl.

This is a fantastic beginning to the Moonlight series. The plot had many twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. The characters are compelling. Cee Cee and Max are troubled souls on opposite sides of the law. They're haunted by the past and longing to reach out to someone who would understand their pain. I loved Max Savoie. He was different than your typical paranormal romance hero. Sure, he was sexy, protective and strong, but he also seemed vulnerable with little identity and very few personal possessions of his own. His entire existance was controlled by Jimmy Legere until Cee Cee came into his life. Hot, passionate sex was easy between them, but learning to trust one another was far more complicated. I'd also like to say that I thought Max's shifting ability was unique, but I will let you discover the details on your own. This dark, suspenseful tale should not be missed!(less)

Masked by Moonlight is the first Nancy Gideon book I've read...and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed it. The hero is just dark and dangerous, and yet fully accepts his feelings for the heroine. But this creates a definite internal conflict for him, one that's as believable as it is suspenseful. This is an amazing paranormal romance with a huge amount of suspense and tension. I couldn't stop reading.

A prolific writer, Gideon attributes her creative output, which once peaked at seven novels in one year, to her love of history and a gift for storytelling. She also credits the discipline learned through a background in journalism and scheduling writing time around diaper changes, Scout meetings, band lessons and outings to the Zoo Boo...and, of course, OCD. The due date for her third book and her second son were on the same day...and both were early! When on deadline, she turns on the laptop between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. to get a chapter in before work.

While the pace is often hectic, Gideon, a Gemini, enjoys tackling diverse projects. One month it’s researching the gritty existence of 1880’s Texas Rangers only to jump to modern themes of intrigue and possibly a legal thriller or two. Then, it’s back to the shadowy netheworld of shape shifters, vampires and movie serial killers. When not working on her latest plot twist before sunrise or arranging medical depositions, she enjoys indulging in Netflix, hosting her critique group, and feeding a variety of wildlife on her fourth-floor balcony including a yearly family of raccoons.
